Dreamy Spring Break 4/20/14

Nice sized group! I have a 13 year old daughter and 11 year old son. Of course they'll be a year older on the cruise.....;) Are they looking forward to going to The Edge? My DS is, my DD was kind of "Eh" about it when we cruised last year.
Where are you all from?

Grace is super excited the two older ones are quite cool about it but I'm sure this time next year they will be! We are from South Yorkshire England though we will be travelling via Austin Texas (visiting family) for the cruise. We were planning on going on one from Galveston but then Disney decided not do them next year from there and we were very disappointed so decided to fly down to Florida instead. I guess your children must have loved it if you are going again! Where are you from?

It was probably the best family vacation we've ever had. My daughter never stopped smiling and my son never stopped moving. It was worth every penny.
We are in Philadelphia. I understand your disappointment over Galveston. I would have loved a cruise out of New York. Oh well. Maybe one day.
How long are you staying with family? Are you going to the parks at all? Coming all that way I hope you are planning a long trip.

That's good to hear. Unfortunately we only have 2 weeks! So one week with our relatives then we are planning to fly down Saturday before the cruise and then we will only have one full day after the cruise which we are planning on going to Universal to see Harry Potter World. We have been to the parks 3 times. Grace only once as she reminds me! The HP world was being built last time so we are just going to aim for that. It's going to be tough not to go into a Disney park. So I am trying to get as prepared as I can looking at best hotels near Universal and also where to stay before the cruise at the airport or down at Coco Beach. This forum has been very useful for everyone's experiences that's for sure! :-)

We will be sailing as well on the 20th..it will be me, my daughter and her 2 children who will be 5 and 7 at the time.

More life! :rotfl:
Welcome!
You are going to LOVE it!
This will be our 3rd & 4th cruise & we are so looking forward to it! :cloud9:

Hi thank you! Yes we are very excited we have wanted to do one since we first came out to Florida a few years ago.

I'm going to post the link right now to this thread and the Fish Extender exchange in the FB group I have with the people going on the cruise with me!! Hopefully they'll join at least the fish extender exchange!

Hi All!! I am very excited to have found this group! Is there also a group on FB for the Fish Extenders? How do we sign up?

This is our first cruise as a family, we are super excited - 3 kids DS-12; DD-10; DS-6.

Welcome! :wave2:
My son will be 12 at the time of the cruise.

Most likely not. It seems like everytime I go to Disney I take a boat load of stuff..tee shirts with disigns from here, welcome letters, treat letters etc..so, I am not sure I want to do FE. It might be fun for my grandchildren tho..What do I need to do?? Is there a specific list for it? Thank you for the welcome and any answers you can give me for FE...

And sorry! The FB group I mentioned is a group I set up with the family and friends that booked their cruise with me! The Fish Extender exchange doc is on page 1 of the thread

We've contemplated driving from Chicago but I think I'd rather spend $900 on airfare for 4 than lose my sanity on the way there!

I completely agree! :goodvibes Our first cruise my hubby was insisting we fly. He flies a lot for work & loves it. I hadn't flown in over 20 years & wasn't looking forward to it. Even though I still am not a fan of flying, I did like gettin to Orlando so quick. :woohoo: We booked flights for our second cruise without mentioning driving. Only think that will keep us from flying next time is if spring break flights are crazy high. :sad2:

We always fly in the day before. My husband & I have read too many threads on here about people who have missed their cruise. I know a few families that do flight in the day of, but we don't.

ITA. Last year we flew in Saturday night, stayed at the Hyatt MCO and went to the port in the morning. So easy and stress free!
