Really? I thought they purchased them from Shirley at The Perfect Gift.

I think Shirley's folks help, but as much as she works with the Dreams folks I consider her one of the team by now.

I think there has been a misunderstanding with this.

The OP quoted was referencing posters who made a comment that their money as California cruises were just as good as those of us who sail from Florida, and it would seem they mentioned this as a possible reason why Dreams is only providing gifts for Florida port cruisers.

The poster you quoted then reminded them that Dreams more than likely hasn't found a Shirley in California at this point, so that is why they can't offer these gift baskets on sailings from California.

Not sure why people would assume that it's about special treatment, and not about finding a reputable and trustworthy vendor like Shirley in California?

It's a nice surprise but the problem with surprises is that it becomes an expectation. Treat it as a treat, not as part of what you paid for.

Yeah, that's the problem with message boards. I wish we could buy them in other areas though. I'm going out of Miami and I know we can't get them there (at least not yet, lol). They look so much better than the ones off the DCL site.

Ultimately it doesn't matter whether a travel agency makes the gifts themselves or purchases them; it is a lovely gesture on their part. The fact that they don't have a vendor for other ports is unfortunate for those guests.

Sorry, as Pooh particularly quoted the reference to getting the baskets out West, and since not available, then perhaps those cruisers could get extra OBC as substitution for the baskets not being available.

We may never know which people actually take part in crafting the baskets, but I agree with you that this is irrelevant in terms of the gift itself, as it is a luxury item provided for us by Dreams, and along with their OBC, they are very generous gifts!

I was going off what has been stated on the Podcasts. The Dreams folks seem to purchase all the contents and organize how many baskets are needed for each cruise, then Shirley's folks help assemble and deliver the baskets from what I understand.

I just wanted to give DU a heads up, I booked a future cruise on the Fantasy while I was on-board in May and put DU on the form so the reservation would be transferred. DCL first messed up the reservation and I had to fix that; soon I realized that I had never heard anything from DU, either.

I called DCL the other day to cancel the cruise (for reasons unrelated to messing up the reservation) and they didn't even have DU notated. You might want to check with them and see what their quality control process is for getting reservations to you.

If I ever book another DCL cruise, I'll call DU directly. The people in the Welcome Center were so very friendly the day I stopped by.

I had an issue like this once too! Not sure what the onboard rep is doing to mess up. After I book online I always contact my DU TA (Hellooooooooo Kelsie!) after I get home and tell her my DCL Res #. I've heard DCL can take a looooong time to contact the TA so I do this so I can get it all set up in the system. This is how I found out that DCL hadn't made the notation... but since it was their error they fixed it.

We did a 3 day a couple weeks ago, and were so happy and thrilled to get the gift basket! It was greatly appreciated and help bring a little more magic to our trip.

They really are nice and have a lot of things folks just forget to pack...very thoughtful of DU to send such a nice gift..

The basket I got for PCC 4.0 3 weeks ago did. But I have no idea if the baskets are all identical for every cruise.

Are the gift baskets currently available for the Dream? We sail on Jan 17th for a 3 night and I thought the baskets were only available for the Fantasy (which we have booked for Nov 2013)
