Dreams, Tigers, and Roller Coasters, Oh My!!! 1/5-1/19

1/18 - MK

Another unpredictable start - phone calls, breakfast at the food court, and a bus ride to MK for opening;) We hoofed it over to BTMRR and rode 2 times in a row - isn't my mom brave;) . My mom really wanted to get Wendy and Peter Pan's autographs and I really wanted to go to Tom Sawyer's island (I'd seen the Dream Squad headed that way) so we split up.

I hopped on the raft just as the Dream Squad gave everyone coming off of BTMRR Dream FPs; very neat to see their excitement, however no FPs for me. So I figured I'd search for a paintbrush and try my luck. I did find one, and headed back to get my FP and certificate which I saved for scrapbooking purposes.

My mom had fun with Peter Pan and Wendy. They asked if she had any children and Peter was horrified at my age. However, Wendy said that in Neverland you add the numbers together - so I'm "only 10". :) Sure. And they had mortified some other teenager who was trying to hide from his parents. I sort of wish I'd been there for that. We went back to that gift shop because she had seen another of those trivia questions (like the one we'd seen earlier in the week) in the gift shop by PoTC. We answered the question correctly "what side of the ship is the aft side?" or some question like that. We got to pick some pirate stuff - once we told her we scrapbooked she told us to pick some stickers and other flat stuff. She was very nice:goodvibes

Our next stop was Fantasyland, we really wanted to see the Stepmother and Stepsisters from Cinderella. We asked a CM if they would be around, but since they were new at that time, essentially they couldn't tell us. Of course they themed the answer, but that was what it boiled down to. So we sat around for a bit before deciding to ride a few rides in that area and checking every so often. We went on Snow White, the Carrousel, and Small World before giving up for the time being.

We decided to try Pecos Bills for lunch and here we encountered another interesting guest. He had a very large stroller - it looked very comfy for the child - without a child in it - and had it in line with him. No family present, just him making the order. We didn't quite get it. Wouldn't that make it harder for you to carry your tray, get through the small area to pick up your food, place your area? It just seemed to make the whole process 10 times more difficult for him and for everyone around him. And he was one of them - you know the type - he ordered for 5, changed the order (hey, it happens), picked up said order, it was wrong (again, it happens), and then was very very nasty about it. We just didn't understand why he didn't leave his stroller with his family. I could see if it made it easier to carry his food, but it definitely didn't... When we got our order we retreated to the relative quiet of the furthest seating area we could find.

After lunch we saw Capt. Jack one last time. Then we tried to see if maybe, just maybe we could see a preview for Monsters Inc. Our luck was in:goodvibes We were one of the first ones in the queue and got to look around. We enjoyed this a lot and thought it was funny. After it was over we answered some questions and got 2 FP good for any ride in the MK. By that point my mother really, really needed a cigarette. And I really needed to ride Space Mt;)

I got on pretty quickly, we sped around the curve getting ready to blast off and.... Wait a minute, did the lights just go on? And there we sat for the next 20 minutes... popcorn:: Oh well. Fortunately we weren't in the blast off area yet; unfortunately we weren't in the loading area, so we couldn't get off. A CM came by and explained what they needed to do and what had happened - someone hadn't gotten off quickly enough or had turned back to get something they had left in the car, there is an emergency stop feature, and *poof* both sides of the track have to stop. The problem was on the other track, not ours; but both sides had to clear the entire track. The CM talked to us practically the whole time and was very entertaining. Once both sides were clear, they turned the lights off, and off we went. Once we got off, they told us to go through the chicken exit and get right back on:goodvibes So that was nice. At this point I was a little concerned that my mom probably thought I was dead, but figured that if she had been waiting by the exit, she'd probably seen that no one was coming out for a while. That's exactly what happened - and she was very happy that she wasn't on the ride with me!

After that we went on Buzz before heading back to Fantasyland to try to see the Stepmother and Stepsisters. On our way we ducked into the Pooh playground to see if we could find the 20,000 leagues sub in the tree and my mom was successful. And when we rounded the corner by the Castle there they were in all of their loud obnoxious glory (Stepmother and Stepsisters); we were lucky enough to just make the cut-off to get into their line. They were hysterical and we got a picture with them.:goodvibes

Then we figured we'd leave for AKL and try to be there exactly at 5 when Boma opened to check in for our 5:30 ADR. Last time we were seated much later than our time - and tonight we really wanted to see Wishes, so we wanted to be seated as near 5:30 as possible! Our tactic was successful, we were seated by 5:20:) . We enjoyed dinner tonight - some things were the same, but a lot was different than the other 2 times we'd been here (somehow we managed to hit the same night/menu). And for once we didn't have to wait forever for a bus back to MK from AKL!

We even had time to ride some rides!! So I took my chances and rode Space Mt. one more time, we rode Buzz 2 more times and then we saw Wishes one last time. :sad1: Then we headed "home" one last time and finished packing.

Up next: the trip home

1/19 - the trip home

So today we had a choice - we were getting picked up around 1, should we go to a park or not? For me that choice was a no brainer, of course;) . My mom decided to stay at POR. We got up together and called bell services to take our luggage and had one last surprising breakfast at the food court. Then I took the bus to MK for my last morning...

I didn't want to spend very long there, so I just walked through the whole park absorbing the atmosphere. We'd had 2 full weeks there, so it wasn't like I hadn't had enough time there and I was ready to go home; but I was still sorry to leave. WDW is one of a few places where I can really be in the moment and not worry about things. And I know that I'll always have fun there. So it's never fun to leave and go back to the real world where of course you can be in the moment and have fun, but it's never guaranteed;)

So I just enjoyed the last morning, took a few pictures, and picked up my mom's birthday present on Main Street (couldn't have done that if she was with me, now could I?). Then I took the bus back to POR and hoped my mom would be somewhere in the main building. She was, so we decided to get a fruit and cheese plate, a cookie, and some ice cream bars for lunch; you know our last truly healthy lunch for a while;)

Before we knew it Bob from Sunray was there and he was loading up the car to take us back to Sanford. This time we weren't exhausted... We talked about maybe coming back to use the vouchers we'd received from Allegiant; the pros and very many cons of August. And then we were at Sanford. We split a very yucky chicken finger basket from the snack place there and got on our flight. We were in Allentown freezing by 6pm. A piece of my mom's new luggage (a Christmas present) was ripped. Allegiant said that it was probably a defect in the luggage, and sure enough, when she brought it back, they replaced the whole set for her. So no problems there. And I saw my prince and we all lived happily ever after:) We'll be back next year:goodvibes

Thanks for reading!! :)
