Dreams - Here we come March 17, 2011

Has anyone booked for Fantasy? I was wondering if the rates will go up between now and when we're on the cruise? I'd like to get the 10% discount and obc but not sure if it will end up saving money if the rates go up.

I had the same dilemma this time last year. We had 3nt booked end of March and in late Jan I found a great price on a Dream cruise for Easter 2011. I didn't book it thinking I'd do it while onboard. In those 8 weeks, all the reasonably priced cabins sold out.
Now, when I want a certain date, I book it online asap, then rebook it again while onboard. As long as you don't book with a TA, the onboard agent can rebook it keeping your same deposit and cabin selection. The only chance you're taking is that when rebooking onboard, early dining might be sold out and you'd have to be waitlisted. That happened to us a couple years ago but eventually got early dining back.

Good luck!

Has anyone who is booked as GTY get their cabin assignment yet? :confused:This is our 1st time with GTY or inside on DCL.
I don't know why I keep checking every day. There are people on Feb cruises that still haven't been assigned yet.

When I called DCL reservations, I was told that you can't rebook onboard, that you would have to cancel and rebook and it wouldn't do any good. Did I get someone that didn't know what they were talking about? I don't know what to do.

Yes, sorry to say.
Not only can it be done, but I did it for 3 other cabins of extended family members who weren't even sailing with me at the time of rebooking, and had never sailed DCL. As long as they were linked to me, they'd get the onboard booking perks of discount and obc. If I had cancelled or switched dates and they didn't switch with me, the link would break, and they'd pay full price.

Essentially that's what the onboard booking agent does, cancel out the old ressie and rebook it at new low price and with OBC attached and move the deposit funds over too. (That is why you could lose early dining.) I also name my TA at that time while onboard to get max obcs from my TA. She only gives half if I were to transfer it to her later.
It will have a new res # than the one you brought onboard. This takes her less than 1 minute to complete and you're on your way enjoying your cruise, with all the leg work done at home, not on the ship. :goodvibes

I also book a dummy date same way. Just pick the cheapest 3 nt cruise to book onboard just for the perks, deposit for onboard booking is 50% of land reservations so it usually isn't a lot, then switch to a later date you know you def want to cruise. As long as you don't cancel, the onboard booking perks move to the new date. Again I do the research at home so I don't waste precious cruise time trying to figure when is the cheapest date. Usually late Jan/early Feb is cheap or Sept but Sept 2012 isn't out yet so I chose late Jan.

hth! :goodvibes

Yep. Booked an 11C GTY and that's what we got...

We are cruising on the 17 as well, I have a 10 boy and a 8 year old girl. How do we sign up for the fish extender? Just heard about it from a friend, sounds like fun.

Hi everyone! We are booked on this cruise and can't wait to sail the Dream! It will be myself, DH, DD (12) and DS (9) on the trip. This will be our 11th Disney Cruise. We are interested in doing the FE exchange as well. There are some links you can access that will give you some examples of FE gifts if you haven't participated before. It's alot of fun and the kids love coming back to the cabin to see what's been left in the FE. Gifts we've received in the past have included candy, glow sticks, coozies, picture frames, disney related items etc.

Do we have a meeting date, place, or time yet? I heard someone suggesting 3:00 on the sail date in a lounge. Anyone good with spreadsheets to add the FE friends on a list? This is our first cruise, and I am just picking up on things from the threads on the main site.

We are looking forward to the AquaDuck and food!!!

It's getting so close everyone! Again, I'd really like to make some friends before the cruise so if you have kids around fifteen it would be great if you could PM me for us to get in touch. Thanks!

Hi everyone. I'm Julie, and I've been a lurker on these forums for years, but this is the first time I've posted. My DH and I will be aboard the Dream on 3/17 also. :cool1:It's our second cruise, and it was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing. We went on the Wonder last March with our two kids, and had a blast (I think we had a blast - it was kind of a whirlwind).:rotfl:

Anyway, we're taking some much needed adult time this time around and we're leaving kiddos (DD8 and DS4) with Grandma. We aren't booking any excursions, or special dining, or anything. Our goal is just to explore the ship without wondering when the kids club pager is going to go off. And, to actually spend some time at Serenity Bay. My personal goal (shhh.. don't tell DH) is to book a 7 day Fantasy cruise while on board. I'm sure I'll be coming off of this cruise with a full "next time" list.

:welcome:

We're in the same 'boat' so to speak. This will be our 1st DCL cruise w/o kids. I can't wait to see the Dream, be able to check out Serenity Bay and not worry about where our teens are.
This will be a super short cruise but sooo relaxing for us.

We just got our room assignment last night. No upgrade but nice to know it's getting closer!
We fly 6 weeks from today! :hourglass

Has anyone received their documents yet? I completely forgot the packet will come in the mail saying, "Your cruise documents!" on the front. Unless I can get my TA to intervene, that might wreck the surprise to dh. :scratchin :worried:

I talked to my TA and she contacted DCL and told her they've already been printed and went out in the mail. Too late to have them sent to her. Oh well, hopefully he's oblivious to the mail as usual.

Hello Jenny! We are from Texas and we will be on the Mar 17th Dream cruise also. My husband and I gave this cruise to our family for Christmas. I have four grandchildren going with us.. Bayleigh 13, Blake 10, Madison 7 and Chase 3. I am making fish extenders for three rooms but I don't really know how to play the game. Also how do we know who is in our meet/group? We cruise quite often just never on the Disney. This is a first but out of all the ones I have been on I am most excited about taking my kids and grandkids. There will be 11 of us in 3 different rooms.
I posted this on the March 13th thread but am gonna post again here:

Hi everyone! Can't wait to get to know everyone ;0) This will be our 5th Disney cruise and we can not wait to see the Dream! We are Greg, Jenny and our 3 kids Skylar, Taylor and Ryan. We also (finally!) convinced my mother and her husband to join us for their 1st cruise ever :thumbsup2 I haven't had a chance to read all the posts yet - but we are definitely interested in doing the fish extender. We did it for the 1st time on our last cruise and the kids loved it :) I do have a question though -- I am thinking a FE would be a fun Mother's Day gift for my mom, since she is so excited for this cruise. Is this something for adults too-- or mainly for kids? Oh, I almost forgot -- we are doing a B2B -- March 13th and March 17th -- which is a total surprise for the kids-- they think we are just doing a 4 day cruise - which they are kinda bummed about :lmao: Can't wait to tell them on the last day of the 4 night that they don't have to
pack-- we are going again!

We are in Texas and we are going the 17th and I just received one of the packets today. We have three sets coming because we have a family of 11 going and in three rooms.
We haven't received any documents yet.

This is our first Disney cruise also and I am curious how all this works also. I have collected trinkets for the kids to put in other FE'S but I don't really know what to do or how we know who to do this to. If you get any more info will you please let me know??? Can't wait to meet others and I have four grandchildren with us ages 13,10,7,3.

Hi Everyone!
We are booked on the March 17th cruise. Can't wait! It is going to be a birthday surprise for my DS (10)! We are interested in doing the FE exchange also. Any details yet?

I can't believe it's only a month away now! It's very exciting, but also a little stressful - I've got so much stuff to do between now and then that 4 weeks hardly seems like enough time!

I also received a summons for jury duty the day before we sail :scared1:. I've already mailed a formal request to be excused, but I'm still a little nervous about it. That, along with a few other deadlines before we sail, and I will be seriously ready to spend a lot of time exploring "the District". :thumbsup2
