Dreams Do Come True in Port Orleans. ~~*The End! Final Thoughts. 2/25 Pg. 41*~~

Down in New Orleans from The Princess and the Frog.

In the South Land there's a city
Way down on the river
Where the women are very pretty
And all the men deliver

They got music
It's always playin'
Start in the day time, go all through the night

When you hear that music playin'
Hear what I'm sayin' it make it feel alright

Grab somebody, come on down
Bring your paintbrush, we're paintin' the town
Oh there's some sweetness going 'round
Catch it down in New Orleans

We got magic, good and bad
Make ya happy or make ya real sad
Get everything you want and lose what you had,
Down here in New Orleans

Hey partner, don't be shy
Come on down here and give us a try
You wanna do some livin' before you die
Do it down in New Orleans

Stately homes and mansions
Of the sugar barons and the cotton kings
Rich people, poor people, all got dreams
Dreams do come true in New Orleans

Woo Hoo!!

Wednesday January 13th.

Let’s get this show on the road, shall we?

Yes, let's I'm very excited!!!

Arrival day is so boring. At least it was for me. I worked until 3PM, Marc picked me up from work and I drove to the airport. He’s a slow driver and I was a woman on a mission.

It was quite enjoyable texting with you via Marc has you were driving LOL!!!!!

Check in and security were both uneventful and before I knew it I was waiting at my gate with more than two hours to go until departure.

My flight was a normal flight. I was a bit more freaked out than usual. I’ve decided I do not like flying alone. I guess if I’m going to plummet to my death I want to die with someone I know. The guy I was sitting next too had way too much cologne on which gave me a slight headache.

I'm exactly the same way, if I'm going to die on a plane I want to be with someone I know and love. I'm a terrible flyer period so it always helps me to have Phillip along to help calm me down and hold my hand LOL!!!

The flight landed around 9:20, a full 40 minutes before our landing was scheduled. I went to baggage claim and retrieved my two suitcases and took off towards Magical Express. Of course I got turned around. For Southwest baggage claim is on the A side…opposite of the B side where Magical Express is (do I have that right, or do I have it flipped?) so I had to go up then back down and then across and I was all turned around. I think I finally found the bus and was loaded up on it around 10:05PM.

The ME bus didn’t leave until 10:35 or so. I was really getting cranky at this point. I was tired and just wanted to sleep. I had been up since about 4:30am.

Finally, we were off….to Old Key West…..then Saratoga Springs….then FINALLY to French Quarter.

I made my way to the lobby and oooh’d and ahhh’d a teeny bit before making my way over to the online check in desk.

Let me just say the CM at check in was less than magical. I would say this was the least magical CM of the whole trip. She wasn’t very clear in what she was saying, I was tired and I just didn’t want my freaking debit card on file for charges! She couldn’t seem to grasp that. Finally with all the patience I could muster I simply said, “No Charging. I understand that you have to keep it on file in case I damage anything in my room but I do NOT want charging with my key to the world.” Thank you very much.

She gave me our parking permit, the room keys and a nifty little map. We were in building 3 which is just to the right of the Main Building if you are looking at it from the front. It was a great room location. Close to everything and right near parking so we could see our car from our door.

By the time I finally made it to the room, there was no way I was going to do make it to all four parks the next day. Just thinking about it made me exhausted. I unpacked very little, put on my pj’s and went to sleep with thoughts of Disney dancing in my head.

Thursday January 14th:

I woke up not having any clue what I wanted to do that day. For some reason I didn’t want to start in Magic Kingdom because I knew it was an extra magic morning and I didn’t want to deal with the crowds. I regret this decision in retrospect but you live and you learn.

I showered and dressed still not knowing where I would head. I did my blister prevention and had no clue what I wanted to do. Speaking of blister prevention, I was so paranoid this day about my feet that I about made myself sick. I was convinced my feet were going to explode with blisters the minute I stepped foot into a park. I made my way to the bus stop and still didn’t know exactly where I wanted to go. It was down to Hollywood Studios or Epcot. Toy Story Mania was calling my name.

Here are some pictures of outside our room and the POFQ grounds.

I arrived at Hollywood Studios around 8:20. I went over and upgraded my ticket and was on my way. I stood in line for the gates to open, avoiding the American Idol cameras the best I could. I find that very annoying. I don’t to be put up on the big screen when I’m not even watching the show!

DisneyJanuary2010024.jpg

I was gearing myself up for the running of the Toy Story Mania bulls. Watched the little pre-show with Paige Turner. She was hilarious. Then the rope dropped….now I was probably about 5 people deep back from the rope so towards the front.

PEOPLE WERE CRAZY.

It was horrifying. People running with strollers, yanking their kids along with them. Pushing, yelling, crying. It was awful. The only thing the CM’s did was not let people cut through near The Great Movie Ride. No one was slowing the crowd down. It was nuts.

I had a stroller ram into me. People were backlogged up by the ride entrance because they were blocking the line trying to let the rest of their party catch up. It was awful. I hated every minute of it.

The good thing….I only had about a 15 minute wait for the ride but I don’t know if it was worth it. I think I would have had a complete meltdown if I had kids with me. It was that crazy.

DisneyJanuary2010031.jpg

After I took a few deep breaths after the Toy Story Mania craziness I headed over to Great Movie Ride…where I got the gangster side. Woot! Jen may love the cowboy but that is the scene I have always gotten so I love the gangster. It amuses me that we both have seen the others favorite more times than we can count LOL!!!What was neat about this particular ride is that I was in the second tram with the second CM and the first tram was empty with only 2 CM’s. It looked like one of the CMs was being trained. I took a picture of it in the Wizard of Oz scene. I thought it was really neat.

DisneyJanuary2010040.jpg

After the ride, I decided that I needed to find some breakfast. I headed over to Starring Rolls but it was mobbed and I wasn’t in the mood to stand in line plus I knew I should have some protein so off I went to Fairfax Fries.

For the whopping price of $5.99 I bought a bagel sandwich, sausage, egg and cheese. I didn’t eat the bagel but I did eat the other yumminess. It was pretty good and I needed to eat protein so it worked.

DisneyJanuary2010043.jpg

I found a nice seat and just enjoyed my breakfast. Listening to the screams of Tower of Terror nearly did me in though. I don’t think I will ever be able to ride that.

I did really enjoy the Rosie the Riveter that was on the closed food stand. I also really loved the little military set ups that were around the bar with the forks and other food stuff. So cute.

Continued in the next post....

After breakfast, I was pretty much done with Hollywood Studios and thought I should head over to Epcot. So that is what I did. I had to wait about 20 minutes for the bus to Epcot but that isn’t so bad in the grand scheme of things.

Once in Epcot, I headed right to Spaceship Earth with barely any wait. I just love the ending part where you can build your future, makes me crack me up everytime.

DisneyJanuary2010062.jpg

Then I headed to Soarin’ to grab a fastpass. I skipped Living with the Land because I knew I would ride it with Jen. I decided to head to World Showcase.

I decided to take a chance and ask the CM at Le Cellier if they had an opening for one. I knew it was a long shot but I went and said something like this….

“I know it’s a long shot but do you happen to have an opening for one today?”

The CM laughed. I wanted to say but I’m a DISer, I know it’s a long shot, don’t laugh at me! It doesn’t hurt to ask. The other thing that bugged me is that she didn’t even look or ask….I mean….I’m one person but whatever….I moved on.

I poked around the United Kingdom, looking for my favorite Nanny but she wasn’t around what I did find was a fabulous souvenir that I knew I would have to buy.

A Mary Poppins Cookbook!! I took a picture so I wouldn’t forget it. I knew I’d be coming back so I thought I’d be responsible and think on it to make sure I really wanted it.

I trekked onward to France.

Let’s take a moment to talk blisters. I had a little spot that was starting to bother me on my right foot…my little pinky toe was rubbing and it hurt. I was getting panicked that this was the beginning of the end. So I tried to remain calm and found myself a bench. I took off my shoe and sock and administered one of the body glide packets to both of my feet. After that my pinky toe did start to feel better but I wasn’t loving my sneakers. I was wearing my older sneakers since I had been freaked out by wearing new sneaks at Disney on my PTR.

I didn’t too much in France, just looked around and moved towards Morocco where I met Princess Jasmine! Isn’t she cute?

DisneyJanuary2010077.jpg

As a side note, I really liked the way my sunglasses worked as a headband. FYI, they are a “normal” pair of sunglasses that I just wear over my glasses. I love them, they work well for me.

After meeting Jasmine I moved on towards Japan and browsed the shop. Nothing really peaked my interest too much so I kept moving.

This is where my World Showcase steam started to fade. I was getting tired and hungry. I didn’t know if I wanted to keep walking or not….but I did. It doesn’t make sense but I did. I went over to the America Pavilion and looked in the shop trying to find a Voices of Liberty CD but no luck.

Jen had been able to leave school earlier than expected so she was already driving down so I took the time to call her and whine about what I should do. She suggested just heading back to Future World and riding Soarin’ and head out. We had plans to meet at Downtown Disney around 6 for dinner so I could get a little break in before that. I liked that idea.

Jen's Departure: Yes, I was on the road at about 10:30 am. We were administering final exams and because my planning period was the final exam period I didn't have a test. So my administrator let me leave early and I was on my way! Stanley was on and ready to give directions and Live on Broadway was belting from the speakers!! I was extremely excited for this early departure because it meant I wouldn't have to deal with any nighttime driving at all!!

I started walking. I was actually a little amazed that I made that far into World Showcase. In May I would have NEVER made it that far on my own….I was marveling at how much more energy I had even though I had been going for a few hours at this point.

I stopped at a little food stand right at the beginning of WS near Canada that sold empanadas. I bought a seafood one for $3.99. It was good…but I knew that the breading on it wasn’t going to settle well so I only had a bite or two. But I would recommend it.

DisneyJanuary2010080.jpg

I used my fastpass for Soarin’ and had a wonderful ride. I sat next to a little girl of about 4 or 5 who was riding it for the first time with her family. She was such a pleasure to sit next too, she was so excited. Her parents made me laugh though because they clearly didn’t get that we were Soarin’ over California.

“Look, there is the coast of Maine!”

“That must be Nevada!”

“Skiers from Colorado!”

And my very favorite….

“Oh, there we are….at Disney World!”

Hehehe. I’m such a Disney Snob. I didn’t say anything though, it just made me smile.
After Soarin’, I had a bite to eat at Sunshine Seasons. I ordered a sweet corn chowder, some grapes and a delicious piece of Butterfinger cheesecake. Mmmmmm. Delightful. I didn’t eat it all and I took the rest of the grapes to go with me but it was all really yummy.

DisneyJanuary2010081.jpg

DisneyJanuary2010082.jpg

I made my way to the front of the park and took the bus back to French Quarter. Let me just say that French Quarter is just beautiful and so relaxing. I’ve decided that I’m a moderate kind of gal. I love how they just have a vibe of relaxation…more so than the values for me.

I have to completely agree with you on this!!! POFQ is simply gorgeous and just has a very relaxing feel to it!! Definitely one of my favorite resorts!!!

I took a break in the room, just relaxing, talked to Jen, talked to Marc, talked to my Mom and geared up for meeting Jen at Downtown Disney.

My foot was still bothering me near my pinky toe. I told Marc and he asked if my new sneakers were bothering me. I told him I had worn my old ones. He convinced me to try my new ones for Downtown Disney since it wouldn’t be a long amount of time. I was really freaking out about my feet at this point….I did not want a repeat of May.

Coming Up….

Jen Arrives! WOOT!!

The sneaker saga continues.

Mmmm….blueberries.

I made my way to the front of the park and took the bus back to French Quarter. Let me just say that French Quarter is just beautiful and so relaxing.

I have to completely agree with you on this!!! POFQ is simply gorgeous and just has a very relaxing feel to it!! Definitely one of my favorite resorts!!!

I'm with you on French Quarter. We really enjoyed it on our October trip, and we had a great room location, too. It is very peaceful and quaint, and with the emphasis on all the Princess and the Frog/New Orleans stuff, it was extra neat to be there.

First of all, you look great LL!!

POFQ was our first resort that we stayed at so it holds a special place in my heart. It is a very relaxing resort!

You got a lot done this morning! The LeCellier CM could have at least glanced down!

I hope the new sneakers work out!
