Dream July 19, 2011 - 5 Night Bahamas!

All booked and ready to go!! Stayed up last night to get everything done but got an error message. This morning the things I thought I booked didn't work but no worries, everything was still available, even Remy (although we aren't going there this time). Completed online check in and the 10:30 arrival time was still available. Ready to go!!!

Monica, I saw the Magic will be visiting you - but no stops at CC - bummer.

Hi Noahsmom - Glad everything worked out for your reservations. We were able to book at the 120 day mark and I had trouble at first too. Still debating whether or not to try Remy instead of going to Palo this time.

Is anybody planning on going to Remy?

Looks like Mickey's going to be my neighbor for a few months in 2012 !! :cool1:

you lucky Disney Fan....hopefully you can take advantage of this? We WERE going to take advantage of the NY departures (NY only 2-1/2 hours from our home), but the prices are ridiculous, not in the cards for us. Plus, the itinerary was really boring.

We were originally not going to do it this trip since this is only a shorter trip with brand new (or updated) main restaurants. We're cruising with his side of the family and they aren't interested. But...We're afraid DCL may simplify or change the menu before we can go back on the Dream - so, my DH and I are going to try for reservations. The rest plan to do Palo & we will do Palo if Remy is full.

The itinerary isn't the best but we continue to sail out of Galveston because we're less than 30 minutes from the port - I wish DCL would have negotiated stops in Belize and Roatan Honduras. While they would be "same old, same old" to veteran Galveston cruisers, the ports would have been new to Disney. OR to attract both Galveston cruisers as well as Disney cruisers - longer partial Panama Canal transit cruises would have been fabulous! Galveston cruisers are begging for different itineraries and they could have filled a big demand. It's during school - most families aren't able/willing to take kids out of school anyway. Being 30 minutes from port, John and I would have jumped on a "no kids" cruise

We took a big gulp at the prices and jumped in with reservations for the Christmas cruise with my side of the family - (again strange departure - 8 days leaving on Friday 12/21 - most schools will be in session) praying that the district holds to pattern of the last 11 years and has a 1/2 day on Friday - We're 30 minutes from port - so we'll just pick the kids up and go...

Did I mention we're 30 minutes from the port? ;) :cool1:

Just joining the board. We have changed our cruise 2 other times because of conflicts with the kids schedules. I just made our final payment on this cruise so no more changing!! :cool1: Our family has cruised on the Magic 2009 Turkey Day and we loved it so much we are bringing my in-laws with us on the Dream.

Welcome to the new families! I can not wait for July. It has been raining here for what feels like FOREVER! I am anxious to experience some Bahamian sunshine.

I am busy planning my FE gifts, so please be sure your info is current on the FE list in Google Docs.

I would sign up for the facebook group, but I don't have a facebook account, so I am glad this thread is here.

My husband and I will be on the 7/19/11 sailing with our 3 daughters (9, 6, 1), and I happened to stumble onto this thread. I requested to join the facebook group! :yay:

Yay! Welcome! I have 6yo twin girls, so I'm excited for another girl their age!

Oh well, making reservations was a bit of a disaster. Unfortunately there were no brunch reservations to be had at Palos - which we love. And now I got locked out switching between my reservation and my fathers because I'm the family travel agent and I was trying to book something for him that conflicted with something else and I was trying to fix it. We're booked for some things but I think I have a couple people missing from one activity.:headache: I wonder how long it takes to reset - 15 minutes?

Don't give up on Palo - keep checking - and also once on board. Our travel agent mentioned that shoreside services aren't happy with ship reservations - they make so few reservations available on-line, especially for Remy. During the cruise, people just assume it's full and don't bother to check on-board.

She offers to stay up late to make reservations as part of her services. The past few cruises we've sailed with extended family in multiple staterooms and I've appreciated her willingness to tackle the DCL reservation system. We have one family who are new cruisers so we're hoping she can continue to work her magic when it comes time to coordinate a shore excursion in Nassau and the Palo reservations.

She also said that Remy is already changing the menu removing a few of the more exotic meats. We were hoping to experience it with the original menu. We were able to get those reservations too..

My first time to post on any kind of board.

Doing Disney Dream cruise with my family on July 19th
Want to participate in "fish extenders"--how many are willing to do this?

There is a link to a google spread sheet for FE exchange somewhere between pg 13 and 16. Click on the link and add your DIS name, hometown, the names and ages of those in your party and your stateroom number.

Then get creative and design a Fish Extender and decide your gifts!

Please add my family to the FE for July 19th after reading about them, I can't wait to participate. We are from Texas and will be on Deck 5.

Mom--44
Dad--38
Son--8

Wow - that's great that the agent does that. I've never used one, so I didn't know. I'm still checking on Palo's about once a day for the brunch but no luck yet. There are plenty of dinner reservations, but we're going to Remy for dinner and didn't want to miss more than one dinner with the kids.

I just filled out our on-line check in forms and discovered they are now accepting check in times. When did that start? The 10:30-11 slot is already full so I picked the 11-11:30am time slot. We love to arrive early and never had a scheduled time to arrive before. Does anyone know if and how they're enforcing that? It could get interesting since my sister isn't paid in full yet so I couldn't check her in with the rest of our group and we're all arriving in the same van.

Here's the link to our FE list. Please go and add yourself to it, there is a spot for names (some people make personalized items). There is also a facebook group that's been created. Just post if you'd like to be invited to join that group too.
