Dream Job?

Ok, I just got a copy of the June 2002 CK issue. In it, there is a short article about scrapbooking a "dream job." It got me thinking. What would my dream job be, and how could I scrapbook it if I haven't ever done it. I was just curious is anyone had seen the article, thought about it, or has done a "dream job" page. Please, let post your comments. I would really, really like to do a page or pages like this, but I'm not sure exactly how. The article was too short for me!

Thanks!

Kristin :)

I saw that article. My dream job would, of course, be at Disney World. ;) Where else. I think it would be a fun layout. You could take pictures of someone who actually has the job, interview them for your page, etc. I haven't done a page like that but one of these days....

Well I have my dream job, I work at a scrapbook store :). i saw the article personally I don't know when I could possibly have time to do a layout like that. my backlog of pictures is taking over my scrapbook room. I can't imagine ever getting caught up, no less doing "wishfull" pages. I do think it is a nice idea to do stories about yourself and one of my "to do" projects is a book about me including my life before becoming a mom.

I saw this article and thought it would be fun to do :)

I am just having a hard time convincing my husband that I need to travel all the way from the UK to WDW to do research!!! LOL ;)
Cant think why he has a problem with it myself! LOL

I would love to be one of the Tour Guides round the Magic Kingdom.

My 2 favorite things are scrapping and dancing. Now if I could figure our a way to make a reasonable living doing both I would retire from my present job.

When I first saw the tapestry of nations parade, my new dream job became being a puppeteer in that parade.

Several years ago I did a collage(sp?) of me. I went to the art supply department and got a piece of white poster board. I grabbed a stack of magazines and began tearing out pictures that touched me in some way. a butterfly, a cup of rich coffee, lipstick, a kitten, a floppy hat, a rose, a lawn chair,... You get the idea. I then arranged them in collage fashion on my poster board. I got a white clothes hanger with pinchers and hung it on my wall. I wasn't able to cover the entire board at once so it became a work in progress. I stayed on the look out for more magazine pictures to add. It still has a few white spots in it but I love it. I see it every morning as I awake. It reminds me of who I am and that I am still a work in progress.

Chessie - that is a beautiful idea and sounds really good.

One day perhaps you could post a picture of it.

:)

Yes, I love that idea!

I haven't seen the article, but I've been intriqued by the '100 things I love' layouts I've seen posted over at two peas. I'd love to do a book about me. I think those type of things are a great thing to hand down to your children, grand-children and then all those relatives you won't be around to meet someday.

Your responses are great! I'm not sure what my dream job would be!

abbyndrewmom: I understand your scrapbooking being controlled by your pictures! I guess the reason this idea seems to stand out to me is I just graudated college, but I'm not sure what I want to do. I guess I feel in the same point of my life as I do trying to figure this page out. I don't know.

What I wasw surprised about was how many of your guys would like to work at WDW. I wanted to work there, too, but they certainly don't pay enough. Plus, I work at the Disney Store, and sometimes, it gets tiresome being that happy all the time! I can only imagine doing it in the heat! I don't mean to diss anyone's dream job. I just wanted to post my opinion!

I would love to hear from others! You guys are inspiring!!!

Actually Kristin - I can understand what you mean about "Being Smiley" all the time.

When I was in WDW in May - I went on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour which takes you backstage and into the Utilidors. We were in a coridor being shown some memorabilia and told about how long it takes to do some of the characters wigs, what clothes the CM's can wear and cannot wear - when through the doors came "The Mayor of Main Street" with "his wife". Well these people were having an everyday conversation as themselves, but when they turned the corner and saw all of us, straight away they were "The Mayor and his wife" again. The smiles and banter were almost instantaneous. We had a lot of fun with them - but I did feel a bit like we were intruding in their 'down' time :)

I 'think' I would like a job at WDW - but in reality, if the opportunity were to be there, maybe it's not so glamorous.

:) :) :)

I know we've sort of gotten off topic here, but I wanted to comment on this too. I know what you're talking about, but I really don't think it would bother me. I realize the CMs are making an effort to make a guest's experience magical and that those smiles don't always come so easily. But for me it would be a priviledge to be able to contribute to the magic. I do think that CMs who have the most contact with guests should have a certain personality-- outgoing and positive-- because otherwise the effort could start to wear on them.

I really don't believe that "insider knowledge" would tarnish my feelings about Disney at all. I feel much more confident saying this because I know how many CMs are Disney fanatics. DH had a long conversation with a massage therapist (while he was getting a massage :) ) at the Boardwalk recently and he asked her if she ever got sick of Disney or if working there ruined the magic a little bit for her. She told him that many CMs work there *because* they love Disney so much and they just enjoy being there. It didn't ruin it for them at all. Now, I know that for some people that wouldn't be the case. DH is one of those-- he thinks that he wouldn't want to work there because he wouldn't like Disney as much if he did. I tell him to stay away then! ;)

We were on the Keys tour and made a stop at the unloading area where CM's were getting off the bus to go to work. One older man, about 50's, started skipping and singing "Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's off to work I go". It was a hoot. I'd love to work there seasonally, but know that the time they would most need seasonal workers is summer, and I couldn't take the heat.

I would work there in a New York Minute! If they would just let me stick my bed somewhere in the middle of the place and sleep there  I would do anything they wanted! I would be the person skipping to work!!

I'm one lucky lady to have been living my dream job for the last ten years.....being a stay at home mom/wife. I know, hokey, but I would be very happy here for a long while. I am preparing to start substitute teaching for the third year in a row, but hubby is growing impatient and I'll have to put my application in next year for a teaching job.

I'm trying to remember that God has a plan for me but working full time with three kids really doesn't seem feesible to me. It seems INSANE! I love scrapping and am a CMconsultant , but not actively working at it; just doing it with my friends. I couldn't find the time with subbing and graduate school.

Maybe after my husband retires we'll move to FL and I can teach at the Disney Institute! Now there's an idea I LIke!!!!

I never read this board; always on the DVC site, but just happened upon it. Will have to visit you gals more often!

Twinglefam, welcome to the scrapbook board! You will love it here! We have lots of fun! Keep coming back!

My dream job would be to be a WDW castmember, and work in the new scrapbooking store they will open!:p :p :p Are they opening one?????? Hope so! Anyhoo, that's my idea of a great day at work! or......I could be Belle in the Beauty in the Beast show, but too bad I look more like Mrs. Potts!

Hey Michelle-- if you really look like Mrs. Potts (you didn't mention your age), you could be the Fairy Godmother! That's another job I'd love to have when I retire. I figure it's probably my one realistic chance to play a character!

Well, Im a little young for the fairy godmother, but I could always wear a wig couldn't I! lol! Whatever, just get me there! lol!
