Hi everyone,

I've not been around much this week due to a combination of intense studying (completed my exam today on scedule after some major cramming) and the fact that our internet has been dying all week. I'm amazed I've actually managed to get on right now!!

Anyway, I went in for a test day last week and after some major faffing around by the company I've finally been given an answer. It's rather confusing so bare with me. Basically the company advertised for a trainee press officer. However over the two weeks they'd been doing interviews and test days, they changed their minds and decided they wanted a fully trained press officer. Whilst I was fine for a trainee position, I couldn't do the job now so the other person I was shortlisted against got the job. However they really liked me and have opened up a second position for me! It's only part time (ad hoc really - they call up and ask me to come in on certain days when they know they'll be busy) but it's work and it's one of the biggest music PR companies around. They're gonna train me and pay me a decent amount plus I get loads of time off as it's only part time so in some ways I think I got a better deal! Finally, I get to introduce myself as a PR assistant at Robbie Williams's PR agency (just wish I liked him really!!)

I'm very happy and will be going in for my first real days on Monday and Tuesday.

Glad to hear that it worked out for you. Hopefully foot in the door and all that :goodvibes

That's great - you are very lucky it's a very hard industry to get into.

I am a PR professional and press officer by trade (didn't work in anything as exciting as the music industry though!). In the future (when you've settled in and got some notches of success on your belt) consider asking your company to sponsor you for the IPR (Institute of Public Relations). Whilst you won't be able to become a full member, you could become an associate member (you get then AIPR after your name!).

Have fun - it's the most exciting (but stressful!) job.

Fantastic news ~ Really chuffed for you.

Well done Queenie, I know things have been a bit tough for you lately so how good is that???
