Dream headed to Barbados

Does anyone honestly believe DCL will be sailing again only 3 weeks after Disney reopened the parks?
I do not but when you get people so invested in their cruise financially and emotionally, the "sunk cost fallacy" comes to mind. Which is why DCL should do the honorable thing and cancel the cruises they know now are not going out instead of stringing people along emotionally and financially. Do I believe the 07/31 Dream cruise is a go, no. Is the 07/31 Dream cruise available for booking, yes. I don't get it.

I completely agree. DCL's lack of communication is frustrating.

I think the big change will come in the cruise terminal in screening passengers before they board.

I agree, that should be the most noticeable change for a lot of us. I also believe there will be changes that we haven't even thought of, everything from security to air filtration to housekeeping. I am not a believer in the mask thing and it does nothing to prevent virus from entering your eyes. WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus stated in a press briefing on 06/05/2020 regarding the WHO's updated guidance on masks that masks "will not protect you from Covid-19" and instead emphasized the importance of hand-washing, social distancing and other infection-prevention strategies. The reason I bring up the masks is that I'm concerned one of the changes may be some kind of "mask police" that roam the ship looking for offenders, kind of like a 12 yr old hall monitor in school or the Taliban roaming the streets checking burqa lengths. Would really be an experience changing thing and would require additional training by staff to deal with mass non-compliance.

A statement that nearly retracted.

What is going on in Barbados? Seems to be a hot spot. Not only does it appear the Wonder and Dream are headed there, right now there are 4 Royal Caribbean ships (Harmony, Serenade, Liberty & Freedom) very close to the island.

i am not at my computer so can’t post a link but there are multiple media reports in recent days that the Barbados prime minister extended an offer to royal Caribbean for them to useBarbados to repatriate crew. It is now part of riyals repatriation plan and they will be flying thousands of crew home from Barbados to countries around the world. Iirc they had already started some and have at least 4000 to go.
When I read the article and that DCL had a ship headed there I wondered if the same offer wasn’t extended to DCL as well.

This morning they both made it. I read a post this morning from a veteran cruiser who said Barbados is letting crew members fly home from the airport—she knows a crew member who told her. Could be why other ships are going to Barbados too.

There's an explanation starting at post #48 on this thread as to why Barbados.

thanks, I missed that. Guess the poster was correct. Glad to see this. Now, just waiting until we can sail again in the future. I’ve canceled 3 cruises and moved my January 2021 to April 2021. Trying to stay optimistic

Wonder is dropping of. No ships leaving minimum mid October but probably a year out.

Although I find it unlikely she’ll return to San Diego this year, all of her winter Galveston cruises are still scheduled. Have you seen news about cancellations?
