Dream February 26, 2012 4-day cruise

We must have similar birthdays....mine is Feb. 25th so celebrating on the ship as well. The big 3-0!!!:scared1:

Question for some of you - I have never been on a 4 day cruise. Do you know if they still have brunch at Palo on these cruises. Would it only be the sea day? We are considering staying on the ship during Nassau and wouldn't mind doing it that day either, if they have it. We loved brunch there on the Magic!!!

Hey Vandygirl! Brunch on the 4 night cruises is only on sea day.....bummer I know! But we are still going to try to snag one, if not we will be on the waitlist.

Looks like a lot of birthdays will be celebrated on this cruise. We are celebrating my DD's 15th and my DH's birthday also.

Hey guys:
We get to book our Palo reservations 120 days out. My hubby and I are planning to go while the grandparents watch the kids. We aren't interested in Dinner but would LOVE the buffet. Does anyone know how many people can be booked? Our room holds five so I would hope that many. Maybe I can book up to the limit when our date comes around and then first come first offered the seat? Just a thought.

Also my mom, in-law, brother-in law, brother in-laws family are all cruising. If they are not interested in the brunch maybe they could book it and one of you all could take the spot? Just let me know so I can speak to everyone and arrange the details. (On your honor to pay-back the cost :-) )

Hi all!

I am a long-time lurker, but 1st time poster! :thumbsup2

We sailed on the Magic in 2009 and have NEVER had a better vacation. It was AMAZING! We have also cruised 3 other cruise lines and will never ever ever go back on anything but DCL!!!

We are very excited about cruisin' the Dream with y'all in February. We are also doing 3 nights in WDW before the cruise. My husband and I are bringing our DD4 (she LOVED the Magic but this will be her 1st time to the park) and our 20-month-old DS. Also, my parents are coming too. We had the same traveling group in 2009 (minus the 20-month-old, of course). :lovestruc

Hi there:
If you would like to join the FE please email your information to me at: trish@wimmerclinical.com. I need to know how many people, ages, last name or first name (whatever you like) and state room number when it is available. I am just getting ready to send out the first list to everyone who is participating. Welcome! If you do not want to join we will also be having a meet and greet at 4 in the Roy Suite on deck 12.

I always regretted not joining the group for the previous cruise and will admit to being envious when I passed the cute FE's in the hall. So I promised myself I would join up this time around. We would definitely be interested in the FE. I know I saw a pattern to make them (no sew) a while back...has that been shared on this thread? If not, no worries, I can search back and try to find it. Goodness knows, I don't need to try sewing. Please let me know who I need to send my info to.

Thanks so much and I look forward to our trip!

vandygirl and jworkkul

:welcome:

Happy to have more people join our little group. Looking foward to meeting everyone.

That is exciting! I have never done it myself, but I did see a link on the cruise website. I tried to post it here, but it says I don't have enough posts to have link privileges. LOL!

Here is how to get there though:

DCL HOME -> Cruises & Destinations -> Packages -> Click Wedding & Vow Renewal Packages

I hope that helps! :bride:

Okay, this cruise is finally starting to feel like it’s really going to happen! I just booked our airfare into MCO on the 25th.:cool1: I also just booked our one night pre-cruise stay at the Country Inn and Suites right next to the port.:surfweb: Is anyone else planning on staying there the night before? The next step is to arrange for transportation to the hotel.:drive: I figured we’d take a limo to the hotel and the hotel shuttle to the port the day of the cruise. I still need to find a limo company that we can trust! I want to arrange for Disney transportation back to the airport post-cruise just because of the luggage issues.

I have a couple more questions for anyone who’s stayed at that CI&S before. We’ll be getting there early afternoon so we’ll be looking for a good place for dinner for 5 adults, DD, Son-In-Law, DS, DW and I.:grouphug: I saw two places called Milliken’s Reef Seafood Waterfront & Grille and Fishlip’s Waterfront & Grille on the inlet that we sail out of on the CI&S website. Does anybody have any recommendations on these two places? When we got underway the last time we cruised back in October:boat:, I noticed at least one of these places, not sure which one, and thought it would be fun for our family to have dinner there the night before. The last question is that it’s about a half mile walk, not really too far but it looks kind of dangerous on Google Earth. Any suggestion from anyone on transportation to and from dinner?:car:

We are also staying at the CI&S!!!!!! We stayed there before our last cruise and loved it! We also loved the shuttle service. I don't know what time your flight is but I would suggest calling CI&S the morning of your arrival on the 25th and scheduling your shuttle to match your port arrival time chosen. Most people wait until they check in, but then find out all the times they want are already taken.

I suggest Fish Lips! You can walk but I would be a little scared! It's a pretty busy 4 lane road. We have always had our car, so I'm not sure about alternate transportation to Fish Lips....maybe someone else can chime in on this?????

I can't wait for this cruise!!!! :woohoo:

We are definatley going to stay at the port the night before we cruise. Still trying to deciede which hotel. Anyone know anything about the Radison? Is their rate more or less? :confused3

Sorry guys I don't know the best hotel. When we went ten billion years ago we stayed at the Best Western???? I'm a Marriott girl now so we're staying at the Residence Inn. I have to stay there now because there are 6 of us and trying to get one room that fits us all at standard hotels IS MURDER!!!!

I am so excited as well because I have 4 of our 6 airline tickets bought with points now. Working it the month of August to try to get the other two this month. Wish me luck!

P.S. I just saw a post for kids jammies for pirate night on the main thread. I am SOOOO buying these for the kids!

If i wanted to renew my vows on this Cruise...does anybody know how i would go about doing it?

Call the cruise line main number and let them know. They have a dedicated staff for special events and can set it up for you. You can even have formal wear rented and brought to your stateroom so you don't have to lug it around.

P.S. If you want to make it a private affair instead of on the deck of the ship you are more than welcome to use the Roy Suite Verandah for a few hours. We have it booked for this cruise

Hi all,

We'll probably also stay @ CI&S before the cruise. We'll have to see.
We had planned on going to Disney World for a couple of days after the cruise. We were really hoping for free dining but disney threw a monkey wrench into our plans and blacked out free dining for that week. Now I can't decide if we should do disney world before or after the cruise. On the plus side the kids would only miss 4 days of school instead of 5. On the minus side, I don't know if I want to deal with the president's day crowds. We'll see. I'm really really really bad at making decisions :confused3

DH is no help - all he can say is "whatever you decide" That helps me alot

We stayed at the Residence Inn last time w/ points. It was really nice. The rooms were very clean and they had a great breakfast buffet. The kids loved the pool and jacuzzi. Every vacation we're on DH complains about the beds but he loved the beds at the Residence Inn. Almost couldn't get him out of bed for the cruise :)

Glad to have you back! It looks like you have a larger party as well. I am sticking by my Residence Inn recommendation. They have shuttle service to the port. All rooms have a full kitchen, you can get a 1 bedroom suite with 2 queens that has a separate living room area with a pull out couch ($169); or a two bedroom suite and a separate living room area that has a pull out couch ($199).

Have you given any thought to either attending the meet and greet or the Fish Extenders exchange?

There are 12 of us in total. The hotel you are recommending looks very reasonable. We are going to give the Fish extenders exchange a miss as its our first cruise and we would like to come the meet and great as it would be nice for the children to make some friends.
My brother is 16 and I know how hard it is to make friends quick at that age and as the cruise is short i thought it nice for some of the teens to maybe chat before they go. What does anyone think of opening up a thread for the teens on our ship to meet/chat first. I wouldnt know how to do this it was just a thought for them.

Becky

I think the teens chatting is a great idea. My daughter is 14 (turning 15 2 days after the cruise) and would love to at least know SOMEONE! LOL

Oh how I wish I could fast foward exactly 6 months from today. I could just picture myself sitting on deck, watching the sun come up, drinking a cup of coffee. Instead we are looking at a storm, fast approaching, by the likes we have never seen before (so the weathermen tell us). Kinda scary.
Even scarier they closed 2 of our 3 hospitals today. We now have only 1 hospital for thousands upon thousands of people. We've always considered ourselves lucky up here that we haven't had the extreme weather other parts of the country have had. I guess our luck has changed. Hopefully it won't be as bad as they say.

Good luck to all those who may be in Irene's path

Chris DH :drive: DS ( 10):darth: DD ( 10 ) :tink:

Happy Six months until Cruise DAY!!!

And I am praying for those in the path of Irene over the weekend. First an earthquake, now a hurricane.
