How did this work - with so much else on deck 11 (pools, eats), how did you feel getting off the elevator in what looks like the middle of the Cabanas buffet? People walking through with swim suits? Traffic and noise as people transit to/from the rest of the deck? Or is it arranged to avoid that?

I will say that I was NOT a fan of this whole situation/set up. I got so confused, feeling like I was doing the wrong thing, but that truly was the only option from the aft elevators. And since we stayed aft, we did this. A LOT. It was confusing at first, but we soon got the hang of it. I still didn't enjoy having to walk through Cabanas each time, though, haha.

I do not believe this is the case. I was on the Wonder for my Honeymoon and when we took the Aft elevators to Deck 9 we walked into a lobby area where the doors are for Beach Blankets.

Apparently the Dream is currently set up different from the Magic/Wonder. Agree this isn't the case on the Magic or Wonder, but is being reported as the current set up on the Dream.

This is true, and I really can't think of any way to change it. When the buffet restaurant is as large as the new buffet restaurants are, it's near impossible to not have one of the stair towers contained within. The aft elevator lobby is right in the middle of Cabanas, so to get anywhere from there, you have to enter Cabanas and walk forward. It's really not a big deal, but you do have to walk through Cabanas if you go up to deck 11 on the aft elevators. This is the case on a lot of the newer ships. It's the same situation on the Norwegian Pearl and Norwegian Jewel. I'm pretty sure it also is the case on the Emerald Princess, but I can't remember for sure.

Yes it is true. You must walk through Cabanas to go forward.

On deck 5 forward you must go up or down to go aft and on deck 5 aft you must go up or down to go forward.

Takes some getting used to but it wasn't too bad.

Sorry, but color me confused.:lmao: We have a deck 5 aft cabin so are we going to have issues? Am I understanding correctly that we won't be able to walk down the hall to take the kids to the clubs?:confused3 I don't have a problem with exiting into the middle of the buffet, but I would have an issue with not being able to do that. And what's the story with going to deck 2?

You are understanding correctly. To get to the kids clubs from deck 5 aft you will need to go up to 6, walk foward to the next set of elevators and go down to 5.

The deck 2 aft elevators do not go anywhere. To get to Enchanted Garden you need to go to mid-ship and go down.

Walking through Cabannas is really not an issue. The real issue is the assigned seating in Cabannas!

They actually have 4 greeter stands. One for each entrance from Deck 11 near the drink stations, and one at each entrance from the elevator shaft! It really caused some confusion on the first day!

"Hello, are you here to eat, meet someone, or are you just walking through?"

Okay, that is just freakin' ridiculous. The kid's clubs are the only reason I even wanted Deck 5 at all. This is a huge deal for me. Wonder what other rooms are still available. Luckily, we're not going until December.

Now I'm confused! I seem to recall walking past the kids clubs on Deck 5, heading aft and using the aft elevators. I do know that there was a closed door that seemed like a dead end, but you open the door and went down the hallway of staterooms to the aft elevators on Deck 5. We did this at least a couple of times without issue. :confused3 Maybe we were in the wrong, haha! But I did notice other people doing this as well. Or maybe I'm thinking of the wrong area altogether!

I don't recall seeing a door but maybe I'm wrong??? I know for a fact that if you are on deck 5 forward you cannot go aft because that's where my stateroom was.

Maybe someone cruising today can double check this.

KevieKev is correct. You can get to the kids club from the aft elevators on Deck 5. You walk up the hallway on the port side and reach a closed door that says something like "Emergency Exit" ... go through, make a turn and you'll be right at the Oceaneer's Club entrance.

The kids and I enjoyed using this little secret entrance. It's not an emergency exit at all, it's just a door separating the stateroom hallway from the middle part of the ship.

As for walking through Cabanas to get to the pool, that is a bit odd. And the night of the fireworks, I took a pretty bad fall walking quickly through holding my daughter. Something had been spilled on the Cabanas floor and I slipped.

Good to know. I guess I thought that door was only for Castmembers.

Yeah we got confused with that on the first day too. We wanted to walk past all of the eating stations to see what was available and while walking to the back counter (with the desserts and carved meats) a greeter stopped us. I asked if there were different options in the back and she kept asking me if I needed a table. We finally figured it out though.

I was more intrigued by the stairs in the back of Cabanas - I assume they go to Deck 10 cabins (like the secret staircase on the Magic) but they looked so out of place, I was scared to try them! :)

Did anybody else have a hard time finding a seat in Cabanas, even with the greeter's help? Our guy walked us back and forth across the place three or four times, and every seat he planned to take us to was taken.

Finally we told him we'd stay in one place and wait for him to come get us. I'm guessing this was just a case of things needing to be ironed out on an early sailing, and I do like the idea of being taken to a seat and not having to fight for one.

You aren't the only one. People were doing some sort of scavenger hunt and crew were directing them to go through the door that looks like you can't go through it! :rotfl:

As soon as you come out on deck from Cabanna's, both port and starboard side, you will find the drink stations.....
