Dream a Little Dream: May 8-12, 2011

It's been a while since I have been on. You guys have been busy:) The time change and weather reminds me that we are going on a ship soon. DD4 is reminding me often that soon she will be DD5 and wants to make sure that everyone is coming on her and Mickey's boat for her birthday party. Dress is prince for the boys and princess for the girls. She's funny! After reading ya'lls posts it appears that we aren't the only ones getting excited. By the way, I am glad to hear they dropped the height limit on the Duck to 42". DD4(DD5) can go now. We planned to go on the underwater viewing boat while in Nassua, anyone else? We also plan to go for a bike ride while at CC...so if you see a guy with a bad sunburn weaving from side to side, it's me "GET OUTTA THE WAY" I haven't rode a bike in 25 years. We're gonne have fun. :woohoo:

Welcome back:thumbsup2. And yes we all are counting down the days. We just plan to play in port...But we are thinking about doing the bike ride at castaway Cay. Make sure you yell too you think you might run into me ok :rotfl2:.

i have just sent everyone on the FE list a PM. If you haven't gotten one, let me know; some important information on it.:flower3: also, check out the list and make sure i have all your information correct.:cool1:

can you all beleive that we are well on our way to 1,000 posts:cool1:. Well we hit it that before we sail is the question. So with under 50 days at least for my family. I am wondering how if we can hit it by then.

By the way it was like 64 today here...I think Spring has come to chicago.

I'll do my part to get us to 1,000 posts!!

Amelia, I'm fine with closing the FE list on 4/1. I'm shopping for bits and pieces with the hopes of assembling everything for all the participants during our April vacation week (I'm taking a few days off from work).

I found a fun thread about people's favorite books to read on a cruise.

When we went with the kids on our last cruise I didn't read much, but since we're leaving the kids home with their grandparents this time :woohoo::rolleyes1, I plan to spend lots of time reading by the quiet pool. :cloud9:

I'm thinking because it's a brand new ship with so much to see I won't have time to read. To much exploring to do!! :cool1:

I did what I usually do...went overboard. Picked up a lot of things for FE. I figured the list would be bigger. So...I will make a couple rounds until all of it's gone. I can't thank all of you enough for the amount of information you have posted. This is our second cruise and obviously our first on the Dream. Someone asked about excursions and I wanted to mention that we did the Gardens at Nassua last May. It wasn't your typical zoo but we made the most out of it and had fun watching the flamingos. They also showed us some of the buildings and forts along the way. We decided on the underwater viewing while in Nassua this time. By the way, who do you think is going to be # 1000.

Hello all! We recently booked our first cruise ever and are going on the Dream May 8-12. It will be me, DH, DD (14) and DD (9). We're also celebrating my birthday on the 10th, and our 22nd wedding anniversary on the 12th. Good times all around! :yay:

We're seriously playing catch up since we booked so late . . . any advice? We've booked Blue Lagoon beach day, snorkel equipment on CC and Palo dinner on the 11th. DH and my passports just arrived last weekend, but we're still waiting on our daughters' passports to arrive - hoping for this week. Anything else?

Thanks for any advice or tips you may have to offer!

welcome tass!!! it is our first cruise also. sounds like you have all things under control. think about fish exchanges? all kinds of information on these boards. enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I wasn't originally thinking we'd do the fish exchange, but now am thinking my younger DD would probably love that. I'm off to do some reading to find out what they're all about . . . I know it involves gifts, but that's about the extent of my knowledge :guilty:

Welcome aboard! You're first cruise, how exciting! You'll love PALO. It's great. :thumbsup2

Tass (or anyone looking for a good FE thread)

Here is a good thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2660789

And here is the post I followed for "no-sew" FE: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30302583&postcount=609

I think the most important guideline for participating in the FE exchange is to HAVE FUN!! I had fun making my FE, but you can order one from eBay or etsy. Thinking up FE gifts, buying the supplies and then assembling the packages is all part of the cruise planning for me. :lovestruc

Oh, and we'll be at Palo's on the 11th, too! It's my DH's 43rd birthday :flower3:
:welcome: to our group!

I have been searching the travel sized sections at all the stores for useful things and also checking out the lists here on the DIS of things other cruisers have suggested are "must haves" One of the trip reports I read recently said the new clock/iPod chargers are quite bright at night and that the hair dryers are weak unless plugged into the outlet by the desk mirror.:confused3 had something to do with higher wattage in that plug

I plan to spend lots of time reading by the quiet pool. :cloud9:
sounds like heaven to me:cloud9:

Ok so yesterday I posted that my husbands uncle passed away which was a shock...but this has been one bad weekend. I got a phone call today just before 6am you know those are never good.:sad1: I was told by my mom who was very upset that my uncle Terry who is honored Vet..had lost his battle to cancer. My uncle Terry passed away. This has been a very hard day for my family and my kids.

We had to go buy clothes for the kids to wear to the service of both uncles.
I told my boys to hang in there it will get better. They both asked when do we go to Disney. I said soon. They both said good because we need this too. I laughed and agreed. I think they heard their mom say that a time or 2.
We are so ready for this trip right now...If I could pack and go today I would.

We also send our sympathy. You are in our prayers.

I am getting so excited for our cruise. It is finally feeling like it is getting close. I have been reading about this FE exchange, and it sounds fun. I just need to figure out by April 1 I guess if I am ready to commit to this. It does sound like fun. I am just not sure if I have the creativity to actually make the FE itself. I can do gifts, but all those FE's look like people put a lot of effort into them.

Ok, I guess I have 1 week to decide and sign up for our FE exchange. Let's see if I can get myself moving.

kathleen, just for your information, i probably wont have a "typical" FE holder.
i'm thinking more along the lines of a tote bag with our names on it and maybe some sort of disney applique?? anything that will hold gifts will do. also, the gifts dont have to be elaborate...just something fun to do...pencils, candy, magnets. think about it and hope you decide to join up. i am getting excited too...first of all for the trip and second, getting to spend time with my grandson!!! i just get to see him about 4x a year. he lives about 600 miles from me.

You may search for pictures of FEs gifts people posted already. Some don't "make" anything, they instead gather stuff on a theme like: emergency on a boat and put pencils, kleenex, bandages, etc. in a bag. Some other people put things from their corner of the planet. Other's from oversea share special chocolate bars or candies we cannot find in North America. It's not what is in the FE, that is important. It's the fun of sharing something, getting to travel the boat, and the surprise of not knowing what we're gonna find in the pockets. If everybody did the same thing, it would be a surprise anymore!

Hope you join, we already have something to share with you,

Oh, by the way, welcome on the thread!!

:tinker:Poussière de fée!
