Dream a Little Dream: May 8-12, 2011

We went on a mini cruise on the week-en on the Georgian Bay off Lake Huron (Great Lakes, Ontario, Canada). I wanted to make sure DD10 could last on a "real" cruise. She was delighted. :goodvibes So, mom, don't be so afraid and cool down a bit ....... :hippie:

I have lots to read. :surfweb: And you reached the 300 without me. :sad2:

But, I'll say Welcome :cheer2: to the new cruisers and Congrats for the 40th.

:tinker: Beaucoup, beaucoup de poussière de fée,

:welcome:

I see that this is your first post! Welcome to the Disboards and welcome to our May 2010 cruise thread.

Thank you all! After our son's wedding in October we will be able to devote a lot of time to planning and asking questions about cruising! If you have any ideas for first time cruisers, we'll be listening!

Just wanted to stop by and see how everyone was doing....I have not checked the boards for the last day or so and boy do you have to play catch up when you do that. Note to self check at least once a day.:thumbsup2

Check it out...I must say it shows what they are working on now.:thumbsup2[/QUOTE]
Thanks for the update. See that you are from the Midwest, also-the land beyond O'Hare. We are south siders (lived in suburban Cook County) who now live in New England.

Yes we are west of Ohare....Not a bad place to live but boy would I love to move to FL. But then again I am sure at times we all want to move. I can not wait we are starting to really plan our trip with dinners and days and booking our rental car. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

just stopping by to check my ticker:goodvibes:goodvibes, with the total fall weather we are having I need something bright and warm to look forward too. And their is nothing better than the Trip to wdw and dcl.:cloud9::flower3:

Eleven more days until our son's wedding--then we can start planning our Disney vacation!

can not get over that we are 2 months 4 weeks to x-mas...and then my kids find out they are going to Disney...I can not wait to tell them.:santa:

Oh and I am not ready for winter or the cold...I guess I better get ready since it is right around the corner.

What is everyone going as for halloween this year? I have a harry potter and army guy. :wizard:

Speaking of Harry Potter. We are trying to decide which parks to visit for our 2 remaining "land" days after the cruise. Normally it would be no contest for Disney, but with the addition of Harry Potter World at Universal... we can't decide. If we did Universal we would have to stay on their property because we recently learned our amusement park patience for lines for our 7 yr. old is zero after attending a local amusement park that did not have Fastpasses. We had visited both Universal parks January 2009 and it didn't really work out for us. We thought we'd wait 5-6 yrs, but then along came Harry Potter!

What are your before cruise or after cruise plans?

We too have been talking about what days on land we are going to do what. I really don't want to book too much until I tell the kids then they can voice what they want to do! I can not wait to tell them but I can wait a very long time until the snow hits chicago land.

We are living at Poly for 8 nights before the cruise and then we are living at the DoubleTree Castle in Kissimee for 4 more nights, were we will visit the Kennedy Space Centre, 1 day something Universal but not Harry Potter since the reviews are not so great and the little one didn't read it yet. Then to relax for real, 2 days at Sea World before the flight back on the 17th morning.

Hello All! I just read a great update here on the DIS's cruise forum titled "I visited the Dream this weekend" Posted are ton of pictures of our wonderful, beautiful, almost ready for us ship and "she" looks fantastic!

Getting there slowly but surely... :cool1:
Now I have to wait to get under the 7 months mark for the cruise.

I don't know for you, but we started to plan this trip more than 4 years ago. :surfweb: So somewhere for us, the upcoming 6 month mark seems VERY important and magical. We will finally be able to book ADR and other important stuff. :woohoo: It's already about 6 months, that my ADR list is ready! I have ants in my fingers to send the list to our TA! :rotfl2:

Hello, remember me? Thread starter who had to bail on this cruise and book a later one? Wanted to remind you that since mine in the first post in this thread, I am happy to put any informational links on that post. It's the least I can do :thumbsup2 In other words, if someone is going to coordinate an FF, a meet or just wants a post detailing who is sailing, you can go ahead and create that post now that you will edit as time goes by and more info comes in. I will create a link to it on the first post for easy locating.

My PM's are turned off, but I will keep checking back to see if someone decides to charge forward. Hope that's helpful!
