D23 what is it? I have not heard of that one before so please share.

D23 is a fan club for Disney enthusiasts which was started by the Disney company about a year ago. It's really for people who are interested in the history of the company. D is for Disney (of course) and 23 is for 1923, the year Walt and Roy Disney started Disney Brothers Studios. D23 publishes a quarterly magazine and also develops different events for members such as tours of the studios and the archives. D23 also offers special events for members at the theme parks - members were recently treated to the last ride on star tours in Disneyland before it closes for its rehab.

There's more info here: http://d23.disney.go.com/

O.K., since I think I know the answer because I researched it on DIS, I'll do my best to answer. If I'm wrong, please help me correct it. :confused3

"Fish Extender" appears to be the "bags" we hook to the "fish" (litterally) on the wall next to the cabin door. We put one opening for every member of the party in the cabin. People who participates in the FE will make/buy gifts to put in other participant's FE.

I don't know how to start a FE group.

There are threads that are VERY explicits with ample pictures of FE and of FE exchange, on DISBoard. I'm still too new to DIS so I don't know how to put the link on this post. But if you search "FE" or "Fish Extender", you should find it very easily.

"Gifts" range from a deck of cards with Disney characters, to homemade bags, to candies that come from Australia or England we cannot find in Canada or US, to paintings, to pens and pencils, to whatever your imagination and your luggages can take! Some people even ship their FE in a special delivery box to the ship! Guess I won't do that, but, if we have a FE for our date, and if you want something special from Canada (like special chocolate bars that don't exist in the States), just let me know and we will be pleased to share. :thumbsup2

Some more crafty people will make their FE. Some people buy them from others on the Board. I'm anything but crafty, so I won't make them, but I won't special order neither. Some people make different gifts for different crowds (little girls and boys, teens, etc.)

Because of DD special needs, I researched the DIS to the max and I found FE examples months ago. I already have three little things gathered for the FE if we care to have one. Some of these were bought at Costco for a special Bday and would nicely fit in the FE bag. :yay:

Now, if you don't already know it too, many people also decorate their doors with doors magnets. There are very special threads on DCL doors magnets with extremely talented and generous people making/sharing them for free. So, I also started to collect door magnets. Therefore, if you come to our cabins for the FE, you will also see the special decorations on our cabin door... including the alien green mickey's head (AGMH) I found at Home Depot!

Hope this answers your question about FE and more,
Hope my English is readable,

Thanks so much for the explanation. I guess I'm in if we decide as a group to do the "fish extenders". I not very good with making things by hand so I'll need to start thinking of small items I can give to folks who want to participate.

By the way, if any of you are planning a Walt Disney World trip in the near future, ticket prices are set to increase tomorrow so you might be able to save a few $ by buying tickets today. I have the mousesavers link for undercover tourist if anyone needs it.

The FE sounds like fun!!!! They only thing you have to watch is the ne rules with the new ship....They are changing some like the dorrr signs and such....Wanting to keep it nice. They have also said that at the time the dream sets sail the new rules go into effect on all Disney Ships. I am hoping to find out what they all are here soon.

D23 Sounds cool...I might have to look into that one. I wonder if they have anything planned for our days at wdw.

On a side note I can not wait we are almost at the 8 month mark!!! Very cool to see the ticker going down.

Hey All: There's an update regarding the Dream on the disney parks blog - looks like the quiet cove pool is coming along nicely.

We are just a few months away from the launch of the Disney Dream and today we bring you an update from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, where the ship is being built. Check out this construction photo; as you can see the Quiet Cove adult pool is quickly taking shape on the 11th deck of the ship.

D23 offered a member's event last year during the Epcot Garden & Flower Festival which take places in April and May so you never know.

Hi everyone,

I am currently in the process of booking the May 8th sailing. Waiting on DVC and DCL to tell me which room I got. We did get the main seating for dinner.

It will be (ages at time of sailing):

Me, Kelly, 38
husband, Brian, 36
son, Matthew, 2
daughter, Katie, 7 mths

Can't wait!!!

Hello all!:wave2:
Mickey4, congrats on passing your test!:cheer2: Hooray for you!!!

 welcome aboard disneykelly73!

SO exciting to see the Dream coming along. popcorn::
I have participated in FE on previous cruises. DS LOVES them! The FE itself needs to fit beside the door. There is a thread that gives measurements. If you search "FE" here on the DIS, there are several that give specific info and also incredible ideas for gifts. It can grow to a rather large crowd which can be an issue but we have had a blast doing it. Plus delivering is fun too!

Thank You so much....I must say I am happy it is over.:woohoo:

Welcome to our ship for all the new members or member....I must say we are really good here at keeping all the new info about the dream gets shared with each other. :cheer2::cheer2:

I am at 8 months and the kids start school next week....I think it should help time pass more quickly.

Hey All: Just thought I'd let everyone know who may be planning a Walt Disney World trip either before or after the crusie that the 2011 rates are out for the Disney Resorts. You can book either packages or room only reservations for 2011 on-line.

Also the AAA rates for 2011 are also out, so if you're a member remember to ask for the discount.

We're finally under 9 months! (still seems like a long way off).

Hey PhilppeP - Welcome to the Dis! Also welcome to the 5/8/2011 Disney Dream cruise thread.

Well thanks for the welcome , crazy4wdw ...
A few words about me and the planned cruise and vacation : It will be my first ever cruise, will be travelling alone and will spent one week before and one after in Florida.
My last trip over there was in 1995, that is a long time ago.
As the Dream is currently not far away from my hometown , I think I will go visit Meyerwerft before the ship sails or at least on the day it leaves Germany ...

Welcome to our fun group...trust me when I say it might be your 1st but it is far from your last.:cheer2::cheer2:

If you have never cruised before I would recommend asking lots of questions also try getting 2010 passporter book it has tons of info about the dream.

We too are ready for the aquaduck but just so you know you do have to be 48" tall to ride it.:scared1: I am hoping my son grows about a inch before we set sail.

:bday: to DS now 11 today! He is our DS that sails with us
(DS 17 prefers to stay home-:sad2:)

He is also super excited about the Aquaduck. :woohoo: I bet there will be just as many grown ups as kids on there !
