DREAM 5-night June 21 2011

I think "dress up" is not the same as a "formal night" or semi-formal night like on the 7 night cruises. So, I would pass on the tux and cocktail dress and leave it at semi-formal at best, if you wanted to. Just look nice - business casual or resort casual is my sort of rule there.

dH and won't get too dressy, but I know our oldest will. She has a gorgeous dress from prom (short, little dress) in the perfect color of Tinkerbell green she's dying yo wear again. And for what I paid for it, i say go for it!:rotfl: She will probably wear it out dancing later in the night, its cute enough to do that too.

Okay, now for an adult question. I have read many TR's mentioning Spirit tasting events. Martini, cognac, and whiskies were the ones I read about. I also read where you can buy tickets for these events when you get onboard. Is there a place that lists what days these are offered? If I'm going to sample 4 or 5 martinis, I want to have an idea which day that would be on and what I will have to do after it. pirate:

jaurban - We've only been on 2 cruises so far and both were with Carnival. The dinner attire subject has us a little perplexed. On the Carnival Cruises, we went to dinner in shorts (nice ones, but still they were shorts). Formal night meant slacks and a dress shirt for most people. I packed a suit for our first cruise and I was one of about 10 men wearing a jacket for our seating. We are worried about overpacking but at the same time, we don't want to end up being too casual.

On the 5 night there is no "formal night" per se, so unlikely to see many people in formal wear. That is a special night on the 7 night cruises. THe 7 night also has "semi-formal night" while the 3, 4 and 5 nights just have a "dress up" night, where nicer outfits are suggested. I think of resort or business casual for that night. Maybe a suit coat and tie for the men if you were really serious on that one. The one thing I know though is that Disney does not want shorts in the main dining rooms, I am not sure you would be sent back, but they don't like it. Also, no t-shirts (not the dressy women's kind, the kind with writing, etc... and no jeans or swimwear). Most people complied and I thought it added a nice touch to "dress" for dinner. You can always eat at the quick serve or buffets without dressing any particular way. On cruise casual nights men will be in button down shirts - long or short sleeve, or polo shirts, probably not jackets, except maybe on the dress up night. Women, capri pants, skirts, dresses, slacks, more choices.

even on a 4 night we have dressed up for dinner one night and you will see people very dressed up and some who are in tshirts and shorts, unfortunately. I know everyone says it is their vacation and they want to be comfortable, but we so rarely dress up and go out I enjoy that part of the cruise. there are options other than the dining room for dinner, but most just come dressed as they want and I don't think disney send those not dressed correctly away except at Palo and Remy.

I am also looking forward to the tasting events. :thumbsup2

Yes, you will be able to view the Navigators once the Dream has a 5 night sailing at the end of May.

My family and I will be taking out first Cruise EVER and we are excited to be taking a Disney Cruise. We will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. My husband and I will be bring our two adult children with two of their friends, my sister and her husband as well as my in-laws. I would love to have a "special wedding cake" one night at dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Hopefully I can arrange this.

Guess i spoke to soon. We won't be joining all of you on this cruise after all. We moved our date to Dec. 18, 2011 today and it's all paid out. Everyone have a spectacular time and make tons of new friends! Write trip reports with pics so we can drool and wait impatiently until it's our turn!:wizard::wizard::wizard:

Hi! Welcome!
Have you found us on Facebook yet? Look for Motley Cruise & request to join. We have an "event" on there for our Meet (which is set for 3pm on Tuesday 6/21). You can RSVP there. If you don't have FB, no worries, I'm sure we'll give a run down of all the "happenings" here on the DIS before we go :cool1:
Also - ranidayz on here (Rani) is in charge of our FE list. You can either PM her on here (her last post was on page 23) or you can PM her once you get on the Group on FB. Either way, she'll need your family name & members (and ages of children), your cabin #, cell phone #, your e-mail address & state you are from. I think that's all the info she needs :goodvibes

Looking forward to chatting with you!!
Robin

Robin - you're so good -- now I feel guilty that I havent' been on here so much for this cruise! I can only dedicate my time to sooo many boards since I started working so I can afford my cruise habit...Moms gotta work if she wants to take her fam cruising every summer! Welcome to our new families....we hope you'll join our FB group and our FE gift exchange....there's no deadline for the FB group, but if you want to join the FE gift exchange, you'll need to declare it and send your info by April 7. Thanks!:scared1:

EEK! Just booked! Been stalking the date as the kids and I want to go on the Dream and DH does, but not to Bahamas... so I am taking the kids while DH has a work trip to Italy! We got a GTY 11A and I am very excited to try out the virtual port hole and hope that the interior room will mean my kids sleep in.

It is our third DCL cruise and 4th overall cruise, and my first solo cruise with the kids. Last June we did WDW solo while DH was in Chicago... taking it up a notch this year ;)

Also, have not read through yet as I just got off the phone with DCL, but we are in for the FE as well!

btw... we are:
Me (Katie)
DS (Adam 7)
DD (Lauren 4)

Our favorite is the tequila tastings - FANTASTIC!!!! If they have added cognac or whiskey tastings I hadn't seen that yet, but I haven't checked in lately......... we need to search recent navigators for the same cruise to see what days they are offered. IMHO it is one of the highlights of the cruise. You just get the tix from guest services in the lobby. :woohoo:

I didn't read all 25 pages, but here I am anyway :)

I'll be cruising in two rooms with my wife, 2 kids and mother.

Don't know if its been mentioned, but this is the Be our guest podcast cruise. Not a huge group, but lots of fun folks for sure.

I did see there was a FE group going around, I'd be interested in joining, what kind of numbers are we looking at for the FE group?

I think we're at 25 cabins for FE. The info we need to get you into the list is DIS name, family name, adult names, kids names, ages, (sex if not evident) email, state, and cell. we have a much more active facebook group if you're on fb. i've heard of this podcast - have no idea what that is or what it means...

Hi everyone!

I was excited to find your group! We go to the World each year, but this will be our first cruise! We are looking forward to meeting you all. We will be traveling with DD3, DD5, DD8. If anyone is looking for a pen pal my 8 year old 3rd grader would love it!

3 quick questions for any one who can answer

I just finished on line check in, is the time you choose really the time you can go on or is that just to give them an idea of what time to expect you?

When I did the on line check in, I put a credit card of payment, but I also have disney dollars to use. There was a choice of cash or other, but it didn't specify Rewards Card. Do I just put that on the account when I arrive?

When you post on Motley Cruise-FACEBOOK, is there a way to have it not show up on the home page? I've tried to delete it on that page, but it doesn't come off. Does it even show up on the home page for non group members to see?

Hi! We brought a Disney reward card with us on board and just gave it to Guest services that first day. They just added this to our room credit... we had a cc on file, but they only charged us for the remaining balance once we had used up our credits...

I imagine they can do the same thing with your disney dollars (is this a gift card?)

I believe it only show's up on what you can see when you are logged in as you. For example if someone who is not in our group goes to your profile page I don't think they can see what you've typed in the Motley Cruise group. I just went to my personal profile page & there's no mention of anything that I've posted in the Group page. Now it does show up on my News Feed - but there's a lock symbol next too it & I'm pretty sure that means that it's a private message for my eyes only.

Has anyone found that to be different??

other posts indicate that right now the times are to help alleviate everyone showing up at the same time and DCL is not CURRENTLY holding you to that time. As we get closer it might help to start a thread with that question so we know if we are locked into a time or not. If they find everyone still coming when they want they may start to enforce it.

It's a private group. ONLY people who are members of the group can see anything regarding the group - thus the benefit over these public boards. The posts show up on your page because you're a member. No worries.:thumbsup2
