Soooo....the dreaded Disney snowball has hit my family!!
We started our DLR family fun in Oct. 2006. Both DH and I had been when we were kids, but not when we were married and had kids. We took our family of 4 boys to DLR and had a blast - even though I had yet to find the DIS and didn't know that we were going at a really busy time and totally missed the Trick or Treat party. We had ride max and it was helpful and we learned how to use Fast pass the first time around and that was great.
We had such a great time that DH decided that he and I needed to go for my 40th birthday which was the next August - so we went in Sept. after Labor Day since neither of us wanted to go in Aug. We had a BLAST. It just reaffirmed to us that we SHOULD have gone to DLR for our honeymoon like we talked about.
Next trip was March of 2008 before our oldest son left the US to go to Taiwan. So we went with our very best friends and their 2 kids, our 4 kids and my parents. We had a huge group. It was so much fun. We had the 5 days for the price of three promo and did the beach since our friends last name is Huntington, we, of course, went to Huntington Beach! We love the beach, since even though we live in Utah, we are West Coast people. Born and/or raised in Nor. Cal.
The problem with going in March was that that wasn't really the plan - we were originally supposed to go later on in Dec. 2008 with the same big group, minus our oldest son. Well..... we really wanted to go in Dec. and see all of the decorations and enjoy the holiday spirit and see IASW with the Christmas decorations, etc., etc!
So, we pulled it off, we went in December, too. DH got a lump sum cost of living adjustment in July 2008 and that added to a little savings allowed us to go to DLR in Dec. But, ohhhhh, how I wished we had AP's!!!
Tickets are so expensive. It was a great time, but I am not totally in love with going in Dec. I don't think it helped my Christmas spirit at all. I know it works for some people, but it didn't for me. I just felt out of rhythm for Christmas and a little grumpy about that. I felt behind the whole month!
Here comes the snowball part...
Because of some things that happened on our Dec. trip, DH and I decided we wanted a DO-Over trip. Ohhhh how I wished I would have gone with my gut instinct and gotten those Costco AP's! We are surprising our 3 boys with a trip right after they are out of school the end of May. We will definitely be buying AP's because we plan to go again in Sept. because DH and I liked that time of year soooo much, we want to go again then.
Now, we have a friend who is going with his wife and 2 little boys to DLR the end of Feb. They stay with family and get the So. Cal tickets - his mom gets them for him. (Lucky!) He is willing to pick up our Costco AP's for us if we can find a store that has them when he is there.
He will bring them back to us and we will activate them before May 31st since we will be at DLR May 25-30.
The snowball has hit my family and hit it hard. Who knew that a simple Fall break trip to DLR would have spawned such Disney Fanatics! My little kids talk about going to Disneyland every day and my 12 yr. old says he could never get tired of going. Ohhhh, we've got it baaaaddd at my house!
