however he said that it's a natural phenomena. He also said that man may contribute but the contribution is so slight as to be negligible. Dr. Gray proceeded to say that there are scientests who are predicting global warming but they are mathmeticians who use models. Dr Gray said that he and his peers who are climatologists do not agree with the "fact" that man has caused global warming-rather it's a build up in moisture in the atmosphere-something that occurs in nature. He said that we are transitioning from a mini cooling period which lasted from the 1940s-1970s. We should expect the pendulum to swing back the other way in about 10-15 years. It's what has happened during earth's history. Dr. Gray also said that these mathmeticians do not want to hear from climatologists, nor does, for the most part, the media. In a few years, people will look back on this and realize that the money spent on this erroneous belief would have been better spent elsewhere.
This is paraphrased from an interview that Dr. Gray gave today on an afternoon radio program with Garland Robinette in New Orleans.

The best thing that can come out of all this hype is that we are motivated to develop alternative sources of energy, and it can't be a bad thing if they're eco-friendly.

Wow. I would probably say that I don't agree with Dr. Gray. He's entitled to his opinion and I am entitled to mine. I find the Carbon build-up in the core samples tough evidence to refute the effects of Greenhouse gases. However, I do agree that we are going through a generalized climactic warming trend. I think it's being exacerbated by the problem of global warming.

Have at it.

Thanks for posting.

Sadly, the media prefers a frenzy (and often creates one). The media would be just as excited if we were heading toward Global Cooling and would filter the facts accordingly.

The earth has seasons, just like hemispheres do. The ice age=winter. Global warming=spring. We're warming up into summer.

Yes, the industrial revolution affected it. But not much. We've only sped it up by a few hundred years. In earth time, thats less than the blink of an eye.

We've not done as much damage as we like to think we have. But we have done damage. Those few hundred years are a few hundred years off the evolutionary period we'll need to adapt to the heat.

Overall, if we stopped dead in our tracks, the damage isn't reversible. Its not correctable, but we can stop from causing more damage.

This is a gradual process. You don't wake up one morning and its summer. The next morning its not winter. The next morning its not summer again. Thats what we have to realize. the polar ice caps aren't going to melt next weekend. we're going to have time to adapt, time to move, time to change.

We need to stop what we're doing though. Otherwise, we'll lose that time.

You mean to tell me that Al Gore and his cronies lied??? I am shocked. Not surprised but shocked all the same. :faint:

There are always disputes about emerging scientific discoveries. That's the nature of the beast. However, most scientists would disagree with Dr. Grey.

Someone who agrees with my DH... he has been saying this since the term global warming started to surface..

My outlook is that if Dr Gray is right then we have at worst done some cleaning and some preventative maintenance. However if Dr Gray is wrong and we do nothing then the damage is incalculable.

And I don't believe that Al Gore LIED. I think that he honestly believes what he's saying.

The religious fervor with which some people believe in global warming will not be undermined easily. I appreciate Dr Gray's efforts in "keepin' it real" though. :thumbsup2 One day in the not too distant future we will look back at this era of silliness and laugh. "The Day After Tomorrow" will be hailed as one of the classic "pre-ironic" cult films of all time.

I do agree with that. I also think that even though global warming is not the looming disaster the media makes it out to be, a little conservation won't hurt anyone either.

Joe, how do you explain away the White House reversing itself and now taking an official position based on the overwhelming scientific consensus that global warming is primarily caused by mankind?
