Spent nearly two hours today watching the new series of Dr Who being filmed right around the corner from me. Saw Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston who plays Doctor Who. They were filming a scene outside the church I was christened in. Only problem was I could not get my car out as they had closed all the roads around us for filming, so I thought I would stand and watch it instead.

It was quite exciting and as the series is supposed to be set in London they changed all the bus stops to look like the ones in London and the I noticed that our street names had all been temporaraly changed as well. The security guys told me they are going to be here until next Thursday filming, and most of the action will be filmed in or around the Cardiff area.

Apparently it will be aired next March on BBC. So look out for me as an extra in the background!!!

How exciting!

Time to get the camera out then.

DD's in Cardiff uni (and we only live 'down the road' in Swansea) so we'd heard the filming would be done mostly in Cardiff, but it's great to hear of someone who's actually witnessed it in action! :teeth:

Will you be signing autographs for us on the DIS when the programme's aired? ;) :) :)

Which area of Cardiff were they filming in (without giving away an actual address on-line ;) ), and do you know where else they might be using?

Sue, how exciting!! Can you take some piccys for us??

Hi All

Just come back from the filming set again, very exciting as the scene today involved a bride running down the street in full bridal gear and screeming at the top of her voice when she approched something very scarey. Dont know what it is yet as they were using a green screen in front of her which I presume will eventually show what she was screaming at.

Took my camera, but as soon as I took it out I was told by security to put it away(meanies).

I will pop back again tomorrow and see if I can get some of the shots on my camera phone.

Hilary- They are filming in the Lower area of Grangetown, here in Cardiff. They have also been to Penarth. My mum who lives about 5 mins away from me in the Cardiff bay area phoned me last night to say that they were filming at the back of her block of flats and that there were some wierd looking aliens roaming around the block. As she lives in an OAP complex, I cant imagine what some of the residents must have thought as they came face to face with an alien

I hope you don't mind but I linked your thread on the Community Board. There's a lot of Doctor fans over there.

BTW, lucky you! Very, very cool. :thumbsup2

I was puzzled when I read about Christopher Eggleston filming Dr. Who and then noticed this post is 2 years old.

I had better go and have a nosey on the community Board I think! I did have a bit of a conversation with a Spooks fan over there. The programme is called MI5 in the US and they are just into the previous series.
