I am somewhat new to posting, as this is my first dining report. I have read many dining reports and trip reports and have always wanted to post my own. As the trip got closer I told my DH that this was the year I was going to start! So here goes nothing!

The Cast:

The Swedish Chef, AKA my husband Josh. While his name on the boards is MrToad, I am referring to him as the Swedish Chef for this report not only because he loves that hilarious Muppet (and all Muppets-hence the name of this report) but also because he is our chef. He graciously cooks just about every meal for us and does a wonderful job!

Me: Christy, Monorail lover, Orange bird lover and FOOD LOVER! Basically anything with cheese and I am sold! Apparently my DH informed me that with a Muppet themed title I should refer to myself as the most important female Muppet. However I am somewhat unwilling to call myself a swine for the entire report (although our eating tendencies may suggest otherwise). I was looking forward to this trip so much, and I could not wait to get down there and eat like you can only eat in WDW!

Mother in Law, Pat and Father in Law, Bill
We were so excited to share this trip with them. However most of the pictures and reviews will come from my dear Swedish chef and I. I did not want to hold up 4 people’s delicious meals with my photography before each meal so I focused mainly on what the Chef and I were eating. I will from time to time include a few of their dishes for fun!!

It should also be known that being two former college program interns at WDW, my DH and I are not quick to judge or criticize ANY of the cast members or food down there. Especially for me since my role was in Full Service Food and Beverage, I hesitate to criticize restaurants or servers. Almost all of the time our opinions are quite bias because it’s Disney, we love it and it takes A LOT for us to find something to complain about down there. So just a fair warning that most of our reviews will be about how incredible it all was! Plus it was a free dining week so if it’s free- it has to be good!
Now, let’s get to the food!!!popcorn::

I decided to spare all of your with our 5am breakfast at the airport. All that you need to know is that it was airport food and NOT Disney food, so not nearly as exciting as what was to come.

We got to the Caribbean Beach Resort (it was my first time spending a whole week there and I was so excited) and of course we were famished from our morning of traveling. Our rooms were not ready yet so we decided to head right to the Magic Kingdom after a quick lunch at the Old Port Royale.

The Swedish Chef had stayed here a number of times when he was younger and then again as a teenager with his friends, and he was really excited to get the chicken nuggets from the food court. I took his advice, and got the same.

I thought the chicken was really tasty, I always feel like that on the first meal. Does anyone else feel that way? After traveling like that you could feed me just about anything and I would be thrilled. Those nuggets and fries hit the spot!!

We got different desserts though, I got one of my favorite snacks and my traditional first treat of the trip:

We have been trying to eat healthier, smaller meals and just maintain a better diet for the past few months. So I noticed right away that I was not able to nearly as much of my meal as I would have been able to in previous years. Because of all of this I actually have to commit the shameful act of wrapping up half of this and putting it in my bag for a snack later on. Even thought I had to save part, rice krispie treat was sticky and delicious!!:goodvibes

And DH started off a week of cupcakes and muffin with this:

Chocolate cupcake and "regular" icing, he referred to it as "just a plain cupcake" yet he said that it was very good, moist and tasty apparently. :thumbsup2

Yummy, yummy!! All in all- good food and a great way to refresh and to get us prepared to head off to the Magic Kingdom!!

Next up: Dinner at Tony's Town Square!!

I'm in!!!

But I think you look much more like Janice and would fit in just right with your title!!!

Great start!:thumbsup2

We love the Muppets too! And we loved staying at Carribbean Beach resort - your meal at Old Port Royale brought some good memories back!

Thanks for all the comments!! It is so encouraging to have so many people leave their kind words- makes reminiscing and writing this report so much more enjoyable!! I am working on posting dinner now- stay tuned!

Still going on energy from our nuggets we headed straight to the Magic Kingdom, with our bags still in the rental car. There is nothing like those first steps into the Magic Kingdom, smelling the popcorn and hearing the sounds. Here we are, Janice and the Chef enjoying The Peoplemover:

After soaking in our first moments of magic and riding some rides at the Magic Kingdom, our bellies were rumbling again in time for our reservation at Tony’s Town Square. We headed over and got into a discussion over whether or not the front of Town Square had changed. I said it looked darker and DH disagreed. For the record I have compared pictures since we got back. The brick is now much darker. Sorry for that digression, I had to put in my “I told you so”. :goodvibes

Tony’s Town Square is a tradition for my DH and his parents in all of their years going to Disney. It is a tradition I have joined them in for the past two trips and I have always loved it as well. However I always feel like I need to get the Spaghetti and Meatballs to keep with the Lady and the Tramp theme. This year I decided to break the mold and branch out! Not after some delicious warm and buttery bread. I thought I took a picture of just the bread but apparently I only took this one with the menu:

You can still see it’s buttery goodness though. ;)

I went with Tony’s Lasagna for my entree. It is a meat lasagna and it is very filling. I actually liked it better then the spaghetti and meatballs so I am glad I made a switch!

The Swedish Chef went with the Chicken Parmigiana. Delicious!!

For dessert, I got the Tiramisu.

I loved this dessert, it was one of my favorites of the trip actually. The lady fingers were quite yummy and I love when they add the Lady and the Tramp image on the plate. Such a cute touch!

DH got the Ice Cream Bomb, as did DMIL. I believe they were both somewhat let down with this dessert. It tasted pretty good but with the name Ice Cream Bomb, we were all expecting some sort of ice cream explosion when they dug in.

All in all we really enjoyed Tony’s yet again. The service was very fast and efficient. After we had a few other meals we noticed that Tony’s actually rushes you a bit more than any other restaurant we went to. But we were hungry and anxious to see our room and the resort, so no complaints here for a quick meal! Since it was Memorial Day weekend it was a little bit crowded in the Magic Kingdom so we headed home to the CBR for some night swimming and relaxing. We didn’t end up using our snack credit for the day. More snacks for later in the trip then!

A bit of the ambiance of Tony’s to leave you with:

All this talk of food is making me hungry, so I am going to go find a snack. Most likely a little bit of cheese will hit the spot!

Next Up: Day 2- Lunch at CBR again and Dinner at Chef de France!

Awesome, so far it seems like you are doing some of the same places that we have planned for our upcoming trip! We are doing dinner at Tony's - it looks delicious from your pictures! And I love the Lady and the Tramp theme. And we have ressie for Chefs de France so I'm looking forward to hearing about that one as well ;)

Loving your report and pictures, you and the Chef are a really cute couple! Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with us! :goodvibes
