Dr. Jones and the Spitting Camel - Link to Alaska Cruise TR 9/18

I love Ranger Joe and I am so glad you got the abbreviated version of the tour. I thought that whole totem pole thing was pretty cool. What's so cool is you would never notice that they aren't completely aligned. I could see it when he took me up some steps from the concierge level to the roof. I wish I could remember the story behind the characters on the totem pool, but I can't. I also think its so cool that fireplace is designed to replicate the geological layers of the grand canyon.
Oh I forgot about the fireplace, I thought that was cool too! It was pretty cool hearing all of that, havining been in the GC lodge not all that long ago, it resonated that much more.

Neat that you could see it from above, you can't tell they aren't aligned form the lobby at all.

You'd think Ranger Joe would get sick of talking about the same thing over and over, but you're right, the guy LOVES his job. He really is the coolest of dudes. He embodies what Walt Disney World is all about.

If I ever take a trip where I don't hit the parks, I am going back to take that tour again. Too bad you couldn't go to the roof, but you would have baked up there in 30 secs. Not good for your upcoming picture.

Glad you found the key. Bummer about the gout attack. Yeah to moving back the photo shoot.

He does embody Disney, pure and simple and his joy and pride really was infectious. Jeff would have loved it (but thankfully could enjoy it in peace!)

Oh my goodness I would have melted. I was already feeling hot and sweaty and not photogenic just from rushing around and feeling a bit flustered with the news. It was HOT HOT HOT that day. Which will come into play soon.....

I am totally cracking up.

This picture was shamelessly used by yours truly as we were discussing the cruise. It is now Jeff's computer wallpaper. This from a man who has stated every 3 years might be too much.

Today he informs me that the tail number (November-eight-six-six-mike-mike) must stand for Mickey Mouse. Too funny that he actually noticed the call sign.

Of course now I want to know what the 866 stands for. :rotfl:

Does the date November 8, 1966 have some significance?
What a cute picture!

We've got an Alaska cruise on the future trips list as well. Not sure when that will come into play, but perhaps in summer 2012 or 2013. Can you book for 2013 yet??

Can't wait for the photopass pics!!!

FUNNY! Love it. That makes me laugh... Matt doesn't deny liking Disney, but he would also like to claim we need a break between Disney visits... and yet we have been back three times this year ... ;)

You must really be looking forward to your trip this spring. I am sure you ladies will have a great time!

Well, all the private planes start with an N (November) but that date could have some significance. Then again it may be an entirely fake registration number! Or randomly assigned with the MM requested.

2012 for sure but not 2013.

He cracks me up, 3 times this year plus 2 cruises coming....he needs a break. I think he is taking a break. WDW, Cruise, WDW, Cruise...:rotfl:

Isn't it funny what our husbands latch onto in their love of Disney! Too funny that is Jeff's wallpaper now!

I, too, want to know what November 8, 1966 stands for...maybe I will go google it.

The only thing I could find was that Ronald Reagan was elected as the governor of California. Surely that's not why the date is on the tail. :rotfl:

Well, our very own Rebecca is one you know and I'm happy to send the info for mine if you want as well. I know Rebecca is working on her cruise cert stuff and my agent specializes in them so I actually feel like I'm in very good hands for this. She gave me some great advice and it really helped us!

I would LOVE the info. I don't feel I know enough about DCL to book on my own.

enjoyed the update.

do you have to be booked at WL to do that tour? and does it cost anything, i think that would be alot of fun to do.

hope everything worked out with there plans to still come to wdw.

I'm sure that's not it...but knowing Disney, it's something!

I'll send it to you via email, I think I still have your addy, if not will send it via FB email. :)

Nope, you don't have to be staying there and it's free! Every day at 9am I think. You can check at the front to make sure that it's still scheduled but that's the general time and I do think it's daily. Not sure if he get a day off or there is a sub so I'd confirm. I highly recommend it!

Ooooooo, SO gonna tell him that you said that..... :rotfl2:
Did ya find out what the tail # for the plane means?

CP, it is JUST like you to google it...

What a morning! My fingers are crossed that Paul's pain gets under control enough for them to make it -- especially since you we're counting on that room!

I saw your pretty little ticker a few days ago but just now finally made it over here to wish you my HUGE congratulations!!!! That is incredibly exciting, and I bet it's going to be an amazing cruise. I love that Disney is expanding their cruise choices. Any of them will be new to me, but hopefully that will change in the next year or two! :goodvibes

Beautiful rooms! And I LOVE that there isn't that horrid cover that Disney has in most of their resorts. Instead is that nice, soft white comforter. :cloud9: I wish they would all turn to that.

So glad that check-in went smoothly and that you made it for the WL tour! I want to do that next time we stay there, it's such an amazing resort, I'd love to hear all those details.

Eek about your FIL being in the ER! Hopefully it all gets taken care of and they get on the next flight....

Looking forward to hearing about the photography session and how the kids enjoyed posing in matching t-shirts.

Such great check in mojo for the Yacht Club!!! The room is really pretty, congrats on getting the connecting rooms. Wow you had a very busy day planned before WL check out.

So sorry Paul had to go to the ER, I hope they got his pain under control. You had great luck with the short version of the WL tour and a great idea to ask about pushing back the photo session. I am so happy you found the key. I can't wait to see your pictures!

I'm here and reading- sigh, just not able to pour into each TR I'm "on" right now. I know it's a temporary thing, but ugh! moving is so hard.

so, the short version of my comments are:

I'm SOOOOOOOOO glad you found that key!!! What a blessing!

I'm really hoping that Paul gets in and out of the ER quickly and can they can be on their way super fast- and of course, he will find a long-term fix for the pain and such!!

I'm glad you enjoyed the tour and that the hospital visit wasn't something more serious. Any time I see that word, it makes me nervous! I hope that the pain management works during your trip.

We were counting on that room!

I just can't help myself! Whatever did I do before the Internet? :lmao:
I often wonder that myself. That, and debit cards.

November 15, 1966 was when Walt announced he had bought land in Florida but that doesn't fit.

Hmmn, if that's the announcement...maybe it is related to that. perhaps they closed on the 8th? Seaplanes are HUGE in FL, he cold have toured in one for all we know. The plane Jeff is building actually comes from Orlando.

This isn't one of those mind you (not based out of FL) but would likely have been what was flying down there back then as well.

ISomeone needs to email that question to Ask Dave over on the D23 website...

Seriously!

I'm very excited and still a bit surprised about the whole thing. I'd been eying the Mexico one for what, over a year and hadn't really even considered Alaska, assuming it was out of reach and then bingo, it just fell into place!

The bedding is heavenly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You should do the WL tour, I highly recommend it :goodvibes And you don't have to be staying there, it would work well if you were at WCC for breakfast as well!

Well they aren't exactly matching...just all the same color so we didn't clash and so they were clean. I pick my battles. :rotfl:

Thanks! it was great mojo and a really good start to the day which was pretty busy to be sure!

We did have really good luck with the key and tour that morning, pictures are up next!

Oh I know the feeling and you've been moving for what, 5-6 months now, realistically? A constant state of flux.

Gout is a funny thing, I know a lot more about it now than before but the whole thing, what they can and cannot do for it, is pretty weird. I guess I assumed that it had basically been eradicated (or wasn't even real, just in books, a name they used to describe something else) but that's not the case at all and really, they still struggle with treatment.

I'm glad you enjoyed the tour and that the hospital visit wasn't something more serious. Any time I see that word, it makes me nervous! I hope that the pain management works during your trip.

No kidding, I almost leapt out of the cab when I heard it myself. The tour was wonderful!
