My son broke his arm and went from a splint to a cast today. All seemed fine and we want ahead with our vacation. He's got a long arm cast and is complaining of a burning sensation under the cast- not all day, just periodically. Anyone seen an orthopedic close to Disney? I'm a little concerned and will call ours in the am but if he recc having someone check it out,......

I would go to the ER at Celebration hospital.

There is also one very close on 535 just north of Crossroads. If you call front desk they can advise. Have been there 3 times over the years for kids, family and friends - always got in within 30 minutes and got the right diagnosis.

I feel for the kid as I had a similar problem whilst in college. Keep in mind - broken bones issues are fairly simple to diagnose and correct.

I was in total relief after going from splint to cast - so - I think you are wise to have it checked out.

While I am sure it will slow him up on vacation - this too shall pass. Head to WalMart / Krogers and get a very long flexible and skinny (1 inch wide) spatula! The sooner the better! Cast + 3 days and I got the itches! The skin drys out and becomes 100% unbearable! It becomes more aggravating then any pain! That Spatula saved me! After my cast came off I returned our spatula to my mom - who promptly threw it away! Loved that thing - was a live saver!

Don't tell him this, but, I did not let the arm slow me down. Work, drove a shift, played Frisbee golf and it did not heal properly and had to be re-broken! To this day I can predict rain! He is a young boy and I was 21 - big difference his bones are still green. He needs to have fun - don't let it slow him down, but, don't let him be a crazy man.

Go DAWGS! BEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTT Florida! Please scout out Erin G from UGA at the Liberty Inn at Epcot!

Good luck!

Thanks for the posts! As of this am he is feeling better so we will play it by ear. We are definite uga fans and go to all the home games so we will take a break from the parks to watch the game sat. It's been a difficult season but most any season can be salvaged by a uga win over fl!

My son had to go through resetting (rebreak ing) the arm last week after being in his first cast for 2 weeks. horrible! He definitely deserves this vaca so we are hopeful we don't have more problems. Gonna have all the characters sign the cast!

Took DGD when she broke both bones in lower arm. She couldn't do things like SM or BTM but did pretty well with the rest. We also had clear garbage bags and duck tape which allowed her to swim and did not harm cast. Lifeguards at SAB did look at her kind of funny though. She broke it less than a week before we were to leave and they put the cast on a little early so we ended up the next day having to return since she had had some swelling happen during the night and it needed to be loosened up. All in all it was a good trip - just adjusted things to work around what she could do, knowing that we would be back many times to do the others.

I second going to Celebration ER. Disney will get you over there and back if you don't have your own vehicle. Plus the staff there are wonderful. My husband wound up there after the Tower of Terror 10 Miler and they were great.
