Hello,

I am having an Illuminations Dessert Party the night before our wedding.

I was wondering: will the CM be holding a sign when guests arrive at the International Gateway? How will they know which turnstile to go to with which CM?

I'm getting married at the Swan, so my wedding planner does not know. I've emailed the DP planner who booked us, but I haven't yet heard back & I'm trying to finish our Welcome bag newsletters-that's why I thought I would ask here!

Thank you!:goodvibes

The event guide stands outside the International Gateway turnstiles holding a light-up wand that looks like a stubby light saber. They wear these special vests that don't look like the other park cast members' costumes, like this:

The event guide will most likely notice your group congregating and approach them. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much Carrie!!

and do you know how early they expect you to meet them at the gate? Illiuminations will start at 9:30 on our DP & our DP starts at 9pm. Should guests plan to be at the gate at 8:30 or 8:45 or a different time?

I'm so annoyed that the DP Planner has not replied to me yet. I'd like to contact her manager, but I'm not sure how to get in touch with that email address:headache:

I think 8:45 would be fine. I think the guides get there super-early. For our wedding, we showed up at 8:10 for an 8:30 DP and the guide was already waiting for us at the Gateway. For our anniversary, the guide (who was meeting us at the Beach Club) showed up 10 minutes before she was scheduled to. I think Disney must drill it into them not to be late!

Our guide approached our group. FYI: I counted how many guests we had to pay for that night (some of us had annual passes - which she swiped for us to enter). Good thing I did count as when we got our final bill the count was off and we were refunded the difference.

Well, I finally heard back from the planner. She said they will be sending us wristbands in the mail a few weeks before the wedding, for all guests who do not have park tickets. I will likely not see the majority of our guests until the DP (night before the wedding), so I'm thinking I should put the wristbands in the welcome bags with an instruction card-does that sound like the best thing to do??

That sounds like a good idea, but I would also try and call your guests (presumably you don't have too many) and let them know in advance that they MUST have the wristbands if they don't have park admission.

We have 65 guests LOL! Most are couples, which makes it easier.

In all seriousness, I would try to give them out personally. Trust me; someone will fail to read or will misinterpret your instructions. We only had 16 people at our wedding, all of whom I had given written and oral instructions to, and we still had two people not follow them. It's all good though; I'm a teacher and am used to it:rotfl: This would be one time where I say it's ok to be a control freak.

Good point-I actually work with preschoolers so you'd think I would know better:laughing: I'll be in Epcot with my wedding party before the DP so maybe I'll ask my mom to issue the wristbands when guests arrive at the entrance.
