Is anyone else interested in getting together??
We'll be meeting about 10:45 AM in front of Kenny's News Agency, 17 West State Street in Doylestown. We'll start walking around 11 AM.
I'll have trail maps so no one gets lost. The walk is 10 kilometers which is about 6.2 miles. It is a flat trail on the sidewalks of Doylestown so it looks like it's suitable for strollers. You're welcome to bring your dog as long as they are on a leash and you clean up after them.
This trail has been set up by the Liberty Bell Wanderers Volksmarch Club. Here is their description of the trail:
This walk takes you along the tree lined sidewalks of Doylestown, PA, which is the county seat of Bucks County. Bucks County was the home of Pearl S. Buck, author and Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winner. Americas famous author James A. Michener was raised in Doylestown. The homes along the trail are beautiful examples of the leading architecture covering several centuries. Most of the homes have gorgeous flower gardens. Doylestown is also the only U.S. town having two European style castles, both built in the early 1900's by the artistic genius, Henry C. Mercer. The trail goes by these castles, one now called the Mercer Museum (displaying early American furnishings, folk art and implements), and the other, now called Fonthill (his former mansion). The trail also passes the Moravian Tile Works and the Michener Art Museum. All these may be visited. Some have an entrance fee.
It will just be our WISH group walking - so far there are 5 WISHers signed up - and any associated spouses, kids, friends, pets, etc who want to tag along. We will be walking at our own pace, so if someone needs to stop and rest, that's fine.
My husband and I will be heading to a local restaurant afterward for a late lunch and anyone else is welcome to join us.
Rain date will be the next Saturday - November 1st.
