In all the years we have been going to Orlando we have never actually had a look around Downtown Orlando.

We have driven through it once when I took a detour off I4 to avoid a 10 mile queue but I was wondering if people would recommend it for a visit one afternoon ?

Anything there worth seeing, shops etc ? All I could see were some tall buildings and a lake.

Nor me. Does anyone know? Her indoors:mad: has found Lake Eole (I think thats how you spell it!). Anyone know about this particular place?

I have but considering how much its changed I don't know what to say.

We parked at Church Street Station and went for a wander. Saw some nice bits with coffee shops and little boutique style shops, then saw a lot of office building etc. We then encountered a bit of a rougher area so turned around. In the evening there are quite a few bars etc and nice places to have a bite to eat.

This was a few years back so its probably totally different now.

Lake Eola is in central downtown. Basicly a big lake with ducks! It is set in a small parkland area. It is actually quite pleasant, but not sure if it is worth a special trip There are some nice looking restrauants and bars around, probably busy early evenings when the offices shut up. There is quite a few nightclubs so I guess it gets busy again late. There was a few shops but nothing of real note.

Perhaps you ought to try 'Winter Park' area mainly Park Avenue and Winter Park Village. It is an upmarket area with large houses, antique shops, saturday market and a few museum's. I believe it is quite an old area (1900 - 1920's).
