just back from WDW and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on downtown disney other then the driving and parking are terrible. The amount of road work that is being done and other work I was wondering if anyone heard of any more plans. Like possibly a DVC across the street from it.

There are two DVC properties near DTD Saratoga springs, and old key west. Across the street are non disney hotels owned by outside companies. DVC would not go into those places.

DVC is an interesting part of Disney, they have two DVC only resorts and the rest is attached to existing deluxe resorts. It's very very unlikely disney will be building a new resort of any kind in that area anytime soon.

why not next to typhoon lagoon area.

Most of the land between I-4 and Buena Vista drive across from DTD is already occupied with back-of-house operations. Take a look at Google Maps.

There's Typhoon Lagoon, The TL Parking Lot, Team Disney, DTD Cast Parking, Hess, Casting, Suntrust building.

The only real space would be the tiny area between Entrances 4 and 5, but you'd basically have to clear out the entire area which would remove the buffer from Typhoon and lose the theme. So that'd never happen. Plus, I believe the new I-4 interchange is going through there.
