We are planning our first trip for March. I am trying to decide if we should go to Downtown Disney or not. Also if we do go should we plan a full day there? Or if we do Animal Kingdom and go to Downtown Disney after Animal Kingdom closes. HELP!!!

Do you like shopping malls? That's basically what it is, an outdoor mall with some Disney theming. You do not need to spend all day there, IMhO. Hitting it after AK is a great way to do it. :thumbsup2

Yea it depends on why you think you want to go there.

There are a bunch of stores with neat stuff but only a few are owned by Disney. Like there is /was a store that just sold refrigerator magnets, they may have had a few Disney ones but 99.9999% where not Disney.

There is also Disney Quest and Cirque du Soleil and an AMC movie theater.

It's a nice place to spend an evening souvenir shopping and maybe having dinner. You can find unique things there. I think your best bet is to hit it after Animal Kingdom.

It's basically just shopping. We've gone there both times but we're skipping going there for our next trip...would rather spend the few hours in one of the parks. There's NO need to spend a whole day there unless you plan on spending a few thousands dollars, lol....stuff there is kind of expensive. However there is this cafe type place there that sells really yummy smoothies, lol.

I wouldn't miss DTD for anything. One of my favorite shops is HoiPoli..unique gifts that are NOT Disney themed. We love eating at HOB, I love Little MissMatched and The Christmas Store..but what I really like is the atmosphere. We park by Cirque, walk to the Marketplace and take the boat back..it makes for a nice day when you top it off with a movie!

It's a nice way to spend an evening after a day in the parks. You can either grab a snack or have a meal in one of the restaurants. The shops are fun to browse through. Best part...no waiting in lines!

We love to wonder around DTD, The shops are great I like TrenD and the Harley store. DH loves the cigar store.

I would say that once you have done AK its a good idea to spend the rest of the afternoon.

Some good places to eat and its fun to look around.

We used to go but have not gone in years. If you need a way to spend an evening, it fun. Interesting shops and some fun restaurants. Easy to spend money here. If you do not have hoppers, heading there after AK closes is a good choice. If however you do, I would hit up another park over DTD.
