What do you guys think of Downtown Disney? Is it worth spending an evening there? If so, what would be your favorite place to eat there?

I spend many evenings there! I love DTD.

For just a sandwhich, you can't beat The Earl Of Sandwhich. If you want a good, interesting sit down dinner, Ragland Road is great!

I personally really enjoy Downtown Disney in the evening. It's a really different feel from the parks that I can't really describe, but it's a nice feeling. I've only eaten at Rainforest Cafe, which I enjoyed but wouldn't go CRAZY over. I do REALLY like the Ghirardelli ice cream shop though :teeth:

yes, DTD is great and definetely worth spening an evening or afternoon there. Food is great - Gotta try Earl of Sandwich. Delicious hot sandwiches made with fresh cooked meats only $4.95. Great salads and desserts too. If you're a chocolate, ice cream or coffee lover then Ghiradelli is a must. Lots of different sundaes and coffee drinks. Wonderful relaxing seating by the lake. Nice variety of full service restaurants too, all the menus are posted so you can find just about anything you're in the mood for.
Fabulous shopping and some unique Disney and well as non Disney shops. Basin is a store with wonderful and unique (not your typical bath & body works) products. Really nice swimwear and summer clothes shop. They also have Disney Tails which is a Disney pet accessories store where you can get ears and mickey tshirts for your pets. A Disney christmas store and home stores and a kitchen store that has everything disney for your kitchen plus some great gourmet food and wine. Not to mention Pleasure island.
Dont' miss Downtown Disney, it's an essential part of the total WDW experience.

DTD is an experience as much as the theme parks. There is soo much stuff for you to do there. Not only is there some of the best shopping in Central Florida but you have DisneyQuest, the AMC Movie theater, many different restaurants and clubs. I am looking forward to doing DisneyQuest for the first time and I am going to see the new Disney movie, "Cars" while we are there. We may even get a bite to eat at Rainforest. It's a great place to go too.

I absolutely adore downtown disney. It's more than worth spending an evening there. Don't miss it! :)

It usually like doing house of blues, and meandering around with a nice beverage.

We enjoy DTD but mainly just go during the afternoon or early evening. We like Earl of Sandwich and Rainforest when hungry. It is nice to be able to get all souvenirs in one location.

We like both Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich.

If you have a sweet tooth, don't forget to stop at Goofy's Candy Company!

We just accidentally stumbled upon DTD in our 2004 trip...what fun! My kids are older elementary school ages. The water fountain that just comes up out of the ground amused them (and got them cooled off the the Fla July heat) for a good hour! We ate at Rainforest Cafe which I thought was lot of fun...I had never been in a restraunt like it before.

As far as the shopping goes....I searched thru all 4 parks to find a mens t-shirt with a pocket (sigh...its all my BF wears) and DTD was the only place to have them. My son had a blast in Lego store and got a nice deal on some building sets. ***HINT*** go to the "once upon a christmas" store... you can get badges that look similar to CM badges personalized...my kids did this, and wore them on pin lanyards at all the parks. CMs were actually greeting my kids by name due to those badges! It made them feel very special.

We now make DTD our stop for 1st afternoon /evening in Fla!

DTD is great either at midday as a break from the parks or in the evening. Just a quick warning tho, it can be heaving :crowded: particularly in the evenings when we've been there. Again, wolfgang puck express is great as is earl of sandwich. Planet Hollywood and Rainforest are pretty standard- once you've been to one...

Make sure you go into ghiradelli, each time you go in the shop they give you a caramel square. Used to just be a big choc chip so we were v excited when it changed. Altho v confused 1st time we went and she offered us a 'camal square'! Not used to the accent :lmao:

Anyway, def worth a visit or three

We're planning to start our vacation at DTD. We arrive at MCO at 6:40 and will check in at POP and grab a bus to DTD, since they're open until 11. We can get that Disney feeling without using a day on our passes. I ate at the Earl of Sandwich in October and it was very good. As another poster said, don't forget Goofy's Candy Company. I had a delicious rice krispie treat covered in chocolate and sprinkles. Yummy. Oh, I can hardly wait until September. pixiedust:

we've eaten at the rainforest cafe which i like but its always so crowded

We LOVE DTD!!! Even our kids do! We love all the stores and Love going to the Rain Forest Cafe!!! I can't imagine NOT going!! We usually go in the evening.:cool1:

We go to DTD everytime we go to DW. It's a great place to do your shopping. We enjoy eating at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant! We usually do this as an evening adventure like the OP.
