Downtown Disney Starbucks

I am not putting anyone down. I just fail to see how that company should even be at DLR to begin with. I choose not to patronize that particular corporation while I am visiting DLR.
Where I live, that co. is everywhere, unfortunately. As a result, I most definitely have no desire whatsoever to wait in their lines at the DLR. I will save that for the churros.

I guess I just fail to understand how your personal feelings regarding Starbucks being located at DLR have anything to do with the purpose of this thread, which is (hopefully) to answer the op's question. Not trying to start an argument, I just don't see anything positive or helpful in making negative comments regarding something that the op obviously has an interest in and enjoys.

Gisele,
I think you struck a nerve with a few. Or maybe they haven't had their coffee today.[/QUOTE

And yes Geemo, Gisele did strike a nerve...guess I'm just tired of the snarkiness and negativity that seems to invade what otherwise is a great place to get information. btw, I have personally gotten a lot of great info from several of Gisele's comments on other threads and think she has a lot of knowledge and great tips to offer! And yes, I did have my coffee today. ;)

Anyone know if the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure mugs are available at the DTD Starbucks? We're going to be in town for the Star Wars Convention next week but have sadly decided not to buy Disney park tickets....but I'd love to get those mugs!

Years ago, I recall Disney letting you buy a pass to go shopping on Main Street...it was a very short time period....want to say an hour....and as long as you actually bought something you got your pass money back. As I said, this was years and years ago, but wondering if they still do that?

ConnieB -

I'm not sure if you saw it, but figment_jii addressed that very subject (of the mugs not being in DTD) in the thread that you started about the mugs a few days ago - http://www.disboards.com/threads/ar...ailable-for-dl-and-dca.3398405/#post-53414292

Generally, the reports seem to be that the shopping pass has been discontinued. I did read of one person who got a little pixie dust sprinkled on them and got to do this several months ago, but they had had and used park tickets in the previous few days and needed to make some additional purchase or exchange after the tickets were used up so got a special exception.

Nope didn't see that, because I couldn't find my original post. Thanks for the link!

I just scrolled through the forum pages to find it. That's one solution, or you could use the Search feature for this forum and type in your thread title. Or, possibly, the thread could be listed in your Watched Threads section (although I find the Watched Threads feature to be a bit unreliable, as it sometimes doesn't show me all of my most recent watched threads at certain points, and then at other times it does). Also, you may have gotten an email alert or two when people replied to your thread, so you could click on the link in the email notification to get to your thread that way.

Wow, sorry to have been a bother.....I did scroll through 3 pages looking for the little glasses that show I was watching the thread, couldn't remember the title of the thread and it was not in my watched list. Feel free to delete my question and the responses from this thread, did not mean to cause such a bother. I can see that the Disneyland and the WDW threads are definitely a different sent of what's ok and what's not.....will remember to do more searching before asking a question here.

It's not a bother at all. I was just pointing out the different ways in which you can find your threads. Isn't that something people want to know? This new platform/layout is still a bit confusing and cumbersome to folks, and many people have not been able to take the time to figure out where/how to find things yet. If I felt anything needed to be deleted, I would delete it, or merge threads or whatever. Nothing needs to be deleted. :goodvibes:

One other thing for folks to note is that, on this new site, the forum pages hold fewer threads than on the previous site, meaning that the threads will appear to slip down the pages much faster than they used to. In the old days, some threads might linger on page 1 or page 2 for weeks and weeks. Now it seems that everything flies by at lightning speed, and a thread that was on page 1 three days ago is now on page 4 or 5.

So now, more than ever before, we have to be a bit more diligent in making sure that people don't start too many extra threads on topics that are already covered in other, existing, active threads. Otherwise, the more new threads that pop up, the more all of the other existing threads will get pushed to page 3 and 4 and beyond. The other day I was looking for a thread that ended up on page 9, even though it had just been active several days prior.

ETA: Another reason I was pointing out how to find threads is that, many times, a DIS'er will take the time to answer a question or give detailed information in a thread and that thread then disappears and the info is never seen by the person who asked the question. I want to make sure that if a response is given and it's a good one, it is not overlooked.

I do not think Sherry was upset, ConnieB. I think she was telling you how to find your first thread. All she was doing was helping you.
Also to the WDW and DL side of the boards, you are way off base. A few years ago I went to the wdw side and it was full of nothing but negativity. DL side of the Dis, is by far the nicest place with the nicest people. I will say when I started looking in to a wdw trip this year (but changed to dl for 60th). I did find it had changed and a lot nicer than it was a few years ago.
However DL side is still by far the best.

Any ways I don't have a huge comment on the star bucks side of this thread. I do think some people like it and that's fine. Just like my son likes the Lego shop even while at Disney. I my self hate coffee, mocha, what ever. I have to get hot coco or chocolate milk. So I don't like to go to Star Bucks unless I have too. They charge way to much for half the drinks they sell. Of course my family likes a normal cheapest coffee they have so that's ok.

The shopping pass is definately no longer, sadly. I used to use it when I lived in LA to do Christmas shopping and get the Park Exclusive merchandise but not have to buy a day ticket (Poor College Student Tricks :lovestruc)

Last trip we stayed at GCH and had forgotten a picture frame my Mom REALLY wanted and the concierge told us the only way to get it was call Disney Merchandising. A lady overheard us and she was going to the park that day and offered to buy it for us and meet us at the Monorail when they left the park for lunch in DD pixiedust:

So you COULD ask someone going in if they would be willing to purchase the mugs for you, but you'll have to trust that they will follow through.

I see what Gisele is saying..there are MANY great coffee places in Southern California (Stewart's Coffee anyone? :cloud9:)and it would be nice to see a smaller company getting the business that Starbucks gets. I don't care for Starbucks nor their business practices so I choose not to support them, and am happy with Hearthstone at 6am - but I can see how others like the comfort of familiarity and appreciate Starbucks being there.:flower3:

I understand what Gisele was saying as well. I kind of feel like, when I am at DLR, I want to eat Disney food and drink Disney beverages -- or at least food/drinks that I wouldn't be able to get in my own neighborhood (Earl of Sandwich, for example). However, that said, I know that Starbucks has a huge following -- and the bad reputation of the coffee around DLR is probably a big motivating factor for people going to Starbucks, as well as the familiarity.

Oddly, because of various survey and rewards panels I belong to, I have accumulated Starbucks gift card money over the last couple of years. I was never a Starbucks person prior to maybe 2 years ago or so. I still don't really drink their coffee drinks for the most part (the last time I had one was, I think, in 2013). I had planned to get a gingerbread latte there last Fall/Winter, and just never did. I have become a fan of their breakfast sandwiches (a pretty good value and fairly tasty) and lemon loaf/poundcake, though! That's what I use my gift card funds on -- or maybe another type of sandwich or salad. So if I were to visit Starbucks again the next time I'm at DLR, it would probably just be for a breakfast sandwich or Disney-specific treat (if there are any to be found), or I would use the gift card to get one of the DL or DCA mugs! I am a fan of most Starbucks mugs, in general (especially the large kind that can hold soup or chili).
