Hello everyone! We're traveling to Disney in April 2015 with our then 8 yo daughter and then 5 yo son. We're mapping out our itinerary as we're approaching the 180 day mark and we can start making dining reservations. We are staying at Piet Orleans French Quarter and will have one evening in either Downtown Disney or the Boardwalk area. Which do you think our kids will prefer and which restaurant in each area would you recommend (using one sit down dining credit as we have the basic dining plan)? Any suggestions or advice would be most appreciated. Thank you so much!!!!!!

We like the Boardwalk area so much better than DTD! We like the entertainment in the evenings, and you can walk to and from Epcot so easily.

I'm not sure what evenings they have the entertainment, so maybe someone else can chime in?

DTD doesn't appeal to us as much anymore, but we end up there sometimes when the kids want to do Disneyquest.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and enjoyed visiting DTD. There isn't so much for entertainment but we browsed the shops (any and everything Disney down there!) and it was easy to get to from our resort. They have some good dining options as well.

At that age your kids would probably enjoy DTD more. There is a Lego store, Once Upon a Toy, the World of Disney, the pin store, etc. a lot to keep busy. My boys love eating TRex. They love getting a Goofy Glacier (like a slurpee) after dinner. In August we even watched a movie after dinner.

It would be a toss up for us. We love DTD but with all the recent constructions and renovations happening, the magic is just not the same. We actually found it very stressful parking and fighting crowds especially during the night, which is when we like to go for the lights and over all atmosphere. Talking Disney transportation will help but overall still very hectic.

We also enjoy the Boardwalk at night too. Recently stayed at the Boardwalk Villas and loved the Atlantic City feel at night (PG version of course).

If you are looking to just have a nice enjoyable evening out and to soak up some Disney Magic, I would recommend the Boardwalk at this point until such time DTD has been converted fully to Disney Springs and all the construction is gone.

Hope this helps!

It will be a lot easier to get to DTD from your resort so I would suggest going there. (easy is a huge factor at WDW! It's exhausting being there) There are a lot of neat things for your kids to see like massive Lego structures, giant Mr Potato head, characters statutes. There has been a lot of construction but it should be better by the spring.

I would highly recommend Raglan Road. The food is excellent and there is Irish step dancers for the kids to watch.

DTD would be my choice. The boat ride for POFQ to DTD is nice. But I would do a CS and go to wolf Gang Puck Express.
