is it easier to get to downtown disney now that the parking garage is open?

I was at Downtown Disney yesterday and it still seems pretty crazy to me.

It's not terrible but there is still a lot of road construction. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. If you are driving, I would not visit just yet, especially in the evenings and weekends. But until they finish the other garage, I wouldn't suggest going. If feel a desperate urge to do so visit very early and during the week.

But for the most part unless you can ride on Disney transportation or walk to it, I would skip it.

I was there last Thursday driving in around 6:30pm. Wasn't that bad. I did see a line into the garage, but electronic signs directed me to another lot across the street. It was a little bit of walk to get in, as the entrance closest to me was under construction. Certainly not a feast for the eyes, but it was plenty easy to park and get in.

I guess when we were there in December we parked in a different area than most. The roads were fine and it was an open air parking lot, not a garage, behind Cirque du soleil. We didn't have any trouble with the construction. We almost didn't go to downtown because I had read so much griping on the boards about the construction, but we enjoyed ourselves.

We went a few times during our recent January / February trip. One time parked across the main road in a marked lot. The other 2 times we parked in the parking garage. The garage is really nice (for a parking garage) - high ceilings so you don't feel closed it and the parking signs let you know how many spaces are open where - very cool system. For us the only issue was the parking garage is on the opposite end of DTD from where we wanted to be (Earl of Sandwich, Once Upon a Toy, World of Disney). It wasn't a bad walk but parking on the other end did slow us down

We were there in January on marathon day and found no issues. The roads are under construction but the road by DTD has always in my experience been a gridlocked mess anyway. The garage was fine. Getting out was an annoyance because they had signs to a closed exit but we worked through that (we aren't still driving around the garage).

But we found nothing more of a mess than we've ever encountered at DTD since late 2010.
