Downsizing through member services.

I have managed to bag a 2 bed value lock off for October next year for a week. My husband and I are hoping to take friends of ouSr away for the week. Unfortunately they are having trouble securing the leave. If they are unable to make the trip will member services be able to cancel the studio part of my reservation thus leaving me with the one bedroom. I know i will be able to get a standard view 1 bed no problem but I just love the lower points for the value rooms. Gives me more points to play with in our second week. We are hoping to try the GFV!

The only way to switch from a 2BR reservation to a 1BR is by canceling the first reservation and then booking the second, if a room is available. MS cannot split the room even if it is a lockoff. There is also the possibility that if MS cancels your 2BR lockoff that someone else will pick up the 1BR portion before the CM could.

I would not assume that you can always get a room for October at last minute. This past year it was impossible to get even 1BRs any view at 3 months or less including at AKV.

That is one you need to check with MS. A few months back (I cannot find the post) a member reported that MS was now allowing members to drop a room off of a 2BR lock-off and still keep the same reservation number for the other room, and someone else said they did the same in the thread. That was contrary to what had happened in the past since usually you could not drop without canceling the entire reservation and making a new one which would be subject to availability at the time of the switch. However, I have not seen anything otherwise confirming what was posted. Thus, you might want to find out from MS now what the current rule is.
