If I'm reading the official Disney announcement correctly, there is a downfall to the DVC Villas about to open at the Grand Californian in 2009. The article states time and time again that the hotel will feature "two bedroom villas" for DVC owners. I would say this means that there will be no studios or one bedrooms built. Experienced DVC members are aware how many points are required to reserve two bedroom villas. Would this really be a deal for someone like myself who typically books studios or one bedrooms? I believe I would come out ahead by just renting a regular room each visit. Click here http://www.disneylandnews.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=234&view_id=5829 to read the entire article.

It says "two bedroom equivalents." I expect that this means some or all of the units will be lock-offs.

However, with only 50 units, I expect it will be VERY hard to book unless you own there.

OKW , VB , HH and SSR have no studios or 1BR villas either - they are all part of a lock-off 2BR. I would expect that GCV would be very similar where some of those 2BR villas may be dedicated and the rest lock-offs. All may even be lock-offs based on the wording of the press release.

Looks like there will be no dedicated studios or 1BRs like at BWV, VWL , BCV and AKV. There was no mention of any GVs either.

IF all 50 2 BR equivilants are indeed lock offs, then the resort actually has up to 100 units, 50 1 BRs and 50 studios.

well, I hope it's not too hard to book at 7 months out cuz now I know where I'm staying when we go out there in 2009!
