Anyone who has sampled the doughnuts from both establishments are welcomed to weigh-in (figuratively, of course).

I've heard nothing but glowing remarks about just how good Krispy Kreme doughnuts are, but have never tried them myself. How are they compared to Tim Horton's doughnuts?

I think that Tim's doughnuts have taken a real dive in quality since they started preparing them centrally and shipping out frozen dough to be cooked locally... I rarely have them anymore (couldn't tell to look at me though). I wonder if Krispy Kreme is more like the old Tim's (I miss you Walnut Crunch!) or the new Tim's....

Thanks,

Mike in the Maritimes

I've never tried Tim Horton's, but if you get the chance to try Krispy Kreme, do not miss it! I'm fortunate enough to have one that's right on my way to work every morning. Seeing that Hot Now sign lit up, and smelling them every morning makes it absolutely irresistable.

Biting into a Krispy Kreme dougnut is liking biting into a slice of heaven on earth.

I know that they have KK donuts at the Dolphin and a few other places but if you want to try a good good good donut when you are in Disney......go to Typhoon lagoon and get some of their mini donuts right near the lockers......these are like the ones that my grandma used to make when I was a kid......so darn good

I am not really a fan of KK donuts. Quite honestly, they are the yeasty type, and I prefer the cake type that stick to the roof of your mouth.

Think TH's lighter sprinkle donut, and you have a KK.

How sad is it that I sound like the donut expert? :rotfl:

Krispy Kreme donuts have the highest sugar / fat ratio of any commercial donut.

They give me a very bad stomach ache.

I agree Tim Horton donuts used to be much better before they started mass producing them. If you want a good donut - try dunkin donuts (they have like, a hundred varieties).

KK are VERY sweet. They are light but oh so surgery.

TH are cake like.

I prefer TH. Besides TH has a lot more choices.

Krispy Kreme donuts are nothing like Tim Horton's. You can't even compare them at all. KK's are overly sweet airy glazed concoctions. Dunkin' Donuts is a better comparison to Tim Horton's because of the variety. KK's are only decent if they're warm, by the way.

Krispy Kreme is a light, yeast-type donut.. very airy and melts in your mouth, but very sweet. Whereas, Tim Horton's is the cake type. If you've ever had the honey crueller from TH, which is yeast based, they taste very similar to KK.

I'm actually eating a TH chocolate donut hole right now. :goodvibes

When Im at home I live near one of the KK factorys. IMHO there is nothing better then one of the fresh KK donuts they give you for free, so it melts in your mouth. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH DROOOOOOOLLLLLLL.

My vote goes to KK! They're taste a lot lighter than Tim's. I was really disappointed when they closed their two locations closest to me. I suppose that wasn't a terrible thing since I'm trying to cut back on sugar. :rotfl:

Thanks for the comparison... I like the cruellers, but they are very sweet.

Do they sell these types of donuts on WDW property? Is that why it's in the Disney dining forum? We'd love to get some donuts for our breakfast if we could find them on property.

I'm not sure if they sell them on property but KK is the only donut you will find on DCL

I am a died in the wool northern yankee and there is nothing better on earth than KK donuts, well, may be some sweet tea and kk donuts.....

:rolleyes1 :thumbsup2 :surfweb:

I have to agree that there is nothing better than KK doughnuts! They are the yummiest! There is one close to where I work and if we have a 'special' day such as someone's birthday or something then we have to go get a box and of course most of us have the coupons for buy a dozen get a dozen free! Can't beat that!

Hey Mike
I miss my Timmies.
I used to live in Halifax and I could walk to the TH (on Quinpool I think, or right off of it). :sad1: :sad1:

I didn't read the whole thread but the key to KK is to get them when they are hot. They light upa sign that says "hot now" so it is easy to figure out. Also you can't get them fresh from secondary sellers like gas stations, you need to find a real KK location for that. First time I ever had one it was cold, I thought, um.. yes, it is a doughnut...big deal.. then I had a hot one and  I have had way too many since.

So, if they don't sell these donuts at WDW, then why in the world is this thread in the DISNEY RESTAURANTS forum? :confused3

Krispie Kreme was at the DOlphin when we went there.....I am not sure of any other locations...but I am sure we will find out....

BUT still try those yummy donuts at Typhoon Lagoon .......you will say......Delicious and just like Gramma used to make

Disney serves Krispy Kremes at some of their character breakfasts.

Some people are curious as to what they are like (compared to their home town favourite) to see if they are worth spending tummy space on during their breakfast.
