Doubling up park reservations (AP plus resort res) for a pre-2 pm "park hop"

I don't believe your/her ticket will be recognized to hop before 2pm. With or without some kind of 2nd set of reservations or glitch, the scanner will recognize the ticket has already been used to enter another park that morning and won't allow access to another park until after 2pm.

The Remy preview was a special thing. I believe the preview reservation automatically included a park reservation for access. So yes she probably did hop prior to 2pm for the Remy preview, but the system was designed to allow that.

Agree, this seems unlikely to work at the scanner, even if she's able to dip into the two reservation "buckets" at the same time. Maybe even if she is able to keep both reservations, she'll get stopped at the turnstile at the second park (before 2). But I still keep thinking about the Remy thing - which again, I understand was a special situation - but still just a separate park reservation for the same day. I wonder if maybe we're thinking too highly of the system's abilities to stop people - I haven't searched much, but I imagine plenty of people have tried to hop (unsuccessfully) before 2..? . Only real way to know if these are both valid is to test it, I guess. And since that could end in disaster ( neither reservation being recognized) or inconvenience (pass not allowing entry before 2 pm at second park), then I'd personally prefer not to be the guinea pig. I have to fly across the country to get there, after all!

People have tried to hop before 2PM (see the 'Here Now and Just Back' or 'Everything Park Hopping' threads) and have always been stopped. Occasionally they will be allowed in at 1:45ish but, not earlier than that.

So this could easily be a glitch that just burns a park reservation from a different bucket…

Another spin....Why take away a reservation from another guest by 'burning' it?
I don’t think anyone would want that, of course. But this isn’t last year or Oct 1, and no one’s trying to be a jerk. This is for a random mid-Nov ( non-holiday week) weekday when all parks and all buckets are green.

If your sister goes for it in November, please update as it would be of interest to AP holders. Earlier this year, there was a glitch with our tickets (completely different scenario, nothing to do with AP) and many thought it was an IT glitch but they worked.

I called Disney's AP line, they think it's a glitch, but they also weren't certain. The woman I spoke to seemed very concentrated on, "You don't need two reservations..." So I had to say, "Well, actually, if you wanted to park hop before 2 pm..." She then said, "Ohhhhhhhh.... I don't know. that seems like a glitch."

I'm still curious, though. Maybe it's a glitch that won't be "fixed".

Thanks for your responses!

Hi. I have an AP and staying 9 nights at BWVs.
I'm just trying to see if I understand what your sister tested.

So, for instance, I'm staying onsite and booked my park days using Resort Guest "button".
So, there may be a glitch, that I can also book under "regular non resort guest" AP and book another park.
Is it correct you think that maybe one section doesn't "look" at the other and these are two different ressies
in Disney's eyes? If so, very interesting. If this still happens, I can easily try since staying at BWVs and can walk
to/from Epcot/MGM.

Thanks.

Will do. I am still on the fence about an AP - I'd have to do another trip in 2022 (or get a discount on a current booking) to make a purchase worthwhile to me, but I have two few solo days mid-week where I'm sort of tempted to give it a shot - try to bounce to another park at noon or something, and if it doesn't work, go back to park one. And if both res are erased, just make a new res at the preferred park. I have google searched this, and I can't find anything specifically addressing this scenario. It's been fairly recent, though, that reservations have been abundant enough that this wouldn't be an inconsiderate thing to try.

Not sure how Genie+ would work, and we'll certainly have that for our trip, so that's one additional hesitation, albeit not a huge one. I'm kind of thinking now that I posed this, someone will try it (or post that they tried it).

Hi - yes, exactly. She made concurrent park res for one day of our trip, using the AP holder (non-resort guest) button for one and the Resort Guest button for the other.

Very interesting! I'm not arriving until November 11 but if I haven't heard anything different, I'm willing to try on a non-park day just to give me something to do and take a walk. LOL I will report back unless you or others have an update prior.

"Just to give me something to do and take a walk" - bahahahaha! Love it. love the way you think. You're there the week before me, but now I'm using my "Disney Math" masterminding to justify an AP purchase. Heck, I use it to justify every other ridiculous thing I buy or book.

I mean, now that there is so much availability, there's really no reason Disney would block this. It actually encourages both resort stays and AP purchases for a subset of guests. And they do still get information on where people are likely to go.

So interestingly, I am holding 2 different park reservations too!

Months ago, I booked an onsite hotel for an upcoming trip & evidently grabbed park reservations, too. When it became apparent they weren't going to release AP discounts, I moved offsite.

Right before our dining reservation time, I got serious about what days we'd want to be where and made park reservations for where I hoped to be. I completely forgot we already had park reservations for those days!

I just looked in my account after reading this thread and I have park reservations at different parks everyday.

So maybe it's a glitch with AP and onsite bookings?

I just tried, to see if this is possible (without a glitch).

I booked a non-resort park reservation during a trip we have booked in May, with my AP.

Then I went in to see if I could book another park the same day, coming into the system through the AP staying at a resort link.

Then I did it in the opposite order (resort reservation first, regular park reservation second).

It did not work in either case. It would not allow me to choose that day (May 25).

I feel you are overthinking it. A glitch is certainly not a reason to get an AP.

I also don't hate the 2:00 hopping limitation. It's just not a big deal to us.

But I still keep thinking about the Remy thing - which again, I understand was a special situation - but still just a separate park reservation for the same day.

Park reservations for Remy previews were entered into the system by the preview teams specifically & only for the preview. The AP holders couldn’t change or delete them. I wouldn’t base anything else off that situation.

I’m still looking at dual park res on MDE for the same day, so this did go through somehow. I guess we’ll see what plays out, though maybe it’s best if we avoid posting the outcome. I really appreciate your giving it a shot for your 2022 schedule.

eta - we’re fine with 2 pm parkhopping as well, though we’d prefer earlier at times - this was a question about others’ experiences. I’m sure everyone understands that.

The old and new AP reservation systems (launched after new APs were sold) can’t “see” each other. I had 3 reservations for an upcoming trip (no onsite stay involved) and when logging in to the new system it said I had all 5/5 reservations available. The old reservations still showed in my plans.

this is similar to our situation - we have AP's, but more importantly we have two upcoming trips with park reservations that were made a few months back. Now with the new park reservation system, all of the days for those trips are available to book, and I have been able to book a few using that. So now we have three days that each have two different parks reserved.

What I am interested in is for the day I have a park reservation for both EPCOT and MK - would I be able to get a Virtual Que boarding group for the Remy ride at 7am, but also go to MK in the morning?

You’re persistent, I’ll give you that.

Yes, it appears in your sister’s MDE. But at least most of us think that was a glitch (which are common). It may well change before her visit, or she may get a notification, or it may have negative ramifications for both the reservations.

I don’t understand why it would be “best if we avoid posting the outcome”. If it’s a valid loophole, as you seem to want it to be, then it’s perfectly fine to post on this page. If it’s a workaround that goes against Disney rules, then it’s not something we should be suggesting or promoting.

That was why I shared my attempt.

Just to see if I could, out of curiosity. We will most likely just stick with our original plans and do the parks we reserved originally.

This is what it looks like (same as when we did the Remy preview last month)
