I'm going to So Cal again this year in May again, but this time the week before memorial day. Going on the 16th for 9 nights. I already have the Residence Inn booked for night the last 7 nights of the vacation but I wanted to add on 2 more nights at a different less pricier hotel and both the Doubletree and Peacock had rooms for $109 per night which looked reasonable comparing some of the other hotels I looked at. My question is has anyone stayed at either of these hotels before and if so what did you think of them. Thanks!

also if any of you have any hotel suggestions in that 100-110 per night price range, please feel free to let me know. thanks.

We stayed at Peacock in December. It was nice but not someplace I would chose to stay again. It's too far to walk, the valet parking is mandatory and you need to cash to pay them when you leave. Mostly I would stay elsewhere because it's too far to walk and for less I can stay at the HoJo and walk to DL. Peacock was nothing special IMO.

i seen that about the parking as well, i think doubletree charges parking as well, not sure though. hojo's rates were a little high about 129 per night. walking to the park is not something we plan on doing, on our first two nights we don't plan on going to disneyland anyways so it doesn't matter wether the hotel is close or far.

I don't have experience with the Double Tree. However, I would not recommend staying at the Peacock Suites. We have stayed there twice. The first time, about 5 years ago, it was nice. When we stayed there 2 years ago, it was awful. They messed up on our rooms and then we had to wait for hours for them to fix it, they were rude and the parking is horrible. When we returned in the evenings, after getting off the shuttle, the parking looked more like a circus to us. They had cars parked and double parked and the valet guys were running around all over the place. My husband and I agreed that we would never stay there again.

Thanks for the advice, I'm strongly thinking about booking the Marriott Anahiem Suites for two nights at $119 per night. Rooms look very nice, especially considering it's cheaper then many hotels across from Disney that don't look as nice. Anyone stay there before?

HAve you considered the Candy Cane Inn? Free parking, nice rooms, free breakfast and it's walking distance. Here's a standard (the smallest) room. I got it for $95 a night a couple of weeks ago:

yes i looked into the candy cane was my top choice but they wanted $139 per night at the time I'm going. :sad2:

FYI, the HoJo offers a discount to DisBoard members. Call them and ask for Lorealle and see if she can help you. She is amazing!!!! I just love her to death!! They have free parking and the ART shuttle stops by the HoJo as well.

Tropicana also has free parking, as does Best Western Park Place Inn. Altho the Trop will probably be about $130 a night depending on when you're going.

I remember the parking fiasco at Peacock too, we got there and there was 1 valet doing his job.....BUT he had stopped because some guy was driving his car (he was dropping someone off or something, not a hotel guest) through the lot and he HIT the Valet's personal car!!! So, we pulled up and stopped and the guy who had hit the Valet's car rolled back into ours!!!!! I was NOT happy. Luckily there was no damage to ours and we checked in OK. But the Valet was not happy with the other guy. The lot is tiny, that's why they only do Valet, the Valet's squeeze your car into tiny spots and then they get a bad attitude when/if you need to get something from your car.....we got "I will get your car for you, you really shouldn't get into it like that" ummm, it is MY car and I left my sunglasses, really no need for you to pull it out for me so I can get my sunglasses. LOL And you need cash to pay because it's a separate company and only under contract to Peacock, the valet's are not Peacock employees.

LOL OK, as you can tell the parking deal is probably my biggest issue with them. LOL

I just booked my first two night at the Marriott Suites Anaheim. At least with them I know it's a safe bet to get a nice room at a nice hotel. Like I said before distance and staying across from Disney is no problem for us, only 3 days we're going to Disney the other days will be at Universal, Sea World, Knotts, and other places. Thanks again for everyone's help, it's greatly appreciated.
