I just looked for our Sept. days and the Doubletree at the Entrance to Universal and the Holiday Inn Maingate Universal are both about $99 per night. Has anyone stayed at one or the other? Have a preferance? My only concern is being able to have less than a 15 minute walk to Citywalk, and both look like they are right across the street, but the Holiday Inn looks closer maybe?

if you see ky07 in the threads, ask him.
he has stayed at the doubletree before and just returned this week from a stay at the Holiday inn maingate.

quite a few homies have used doubletree in the past and were pleased with it.

I prefered the DoubleTree - granted these stays were years apart, but the DoubleTree just felt more "resort" like - the pool area seemed nicer as well.

HTH!

The Doubletree charges a parking fee. I don't think Holiday Inn does.

i saw the rates and the amenities to booking with dreams unlimited.

it is a partner hotel but you would have to book thru universal and get a package to receive the amenities that uo gives, such as the early entry.

the wording in the ad for the link was confusing to me at first.

Doubletree Hotel at the entrance to Universal Orlando
Located just a short walk from the main entrance to Universal Orlando - The Doubletree Hotel at Universal Orlando is a great alternative for those seeking a well appointed, comfortable hotel with great location and an unbeatable price.

From its open, meticulously landscaped lobby - to its large, comfortable (and recently renovated) guest rooms - this hotel has everything you need to experience Universal Orlando in style and comfort - without breaking the bank.

The hotel features a large heated swimming pool, and one of the largest whirlpool spa's we've ever seen at a hotel. There are several dining options available at the hotel from 'grab and go' type deli sandwiches, to full sit-down meals (including breakfast).

This hotels strongest feature, however, is it's proximity to Universal Orlando. It is a short walk along a lighted sidewalk path right to the main gate of both theme parks and City Walk.

Doubletree Hotel Guest Rooms

The hotel just recently completed a $12M renovation, and nowhere is this more evident then in the guest rooms. The rooms are large (350 sq. ft. +), well decorated, and will comfortably hold a family of four. Every room has one king or two queen beds, all featuring the "Sweet Dreams by Doubletree" pillow-top mattresses and bedding. Each room also has a 32" flat screen television, Neutrogina toiletries and shower products in the bathrooms, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, AM/FM clock radio with MP3 connection, blackout drapes and more.

the discounts look really sweet.
i am guessing guests will be given a card or something to show they booked for this promo that includes the discount.
it only includes the discount on the 4 sit down restaurants.
the merch discount is valid for purchases over $50.

it is limited on dates.
only covers from Aug. 1st to Oct 13th.

double tree is a very popular hotel for off site guests.
for the promo time period, the $69 is good.
with the ad listing $69 and up, i don't know what the "up" will be.

i haven't heard of any complaints about this hotel except the daily parking fee.
