ok. i am in the midst of a quandry.

we are going to disney over labor day and i have two realistic hotel options.

1. courtyard disney village for $39.00/night. no fridge or microwave.

2. doubletree suites disney village for $79.00/night. suite with microwave and fridge.

my question is this... if you had two year old twins where would you stay?

there seems to be mixed reviews of both hotels. some love them and some really REALLY hate them.

anyone stayed there recently (like this month or since may?)

the doubletree looks cool and a lot cheaper than the contemporary (where i would really like to stay) at $239.00.

but the courtyard is $40.00 cheaper still.

sigh...

any ideas and personal experiences?

We stayed at the Doubletree Guest Suites (at DTD) in June. The room smelled bad - musty/moldy. If we turned the AC way down, it wasn't too bad. The sleeper sofa was bad, but the two double beds were okay. Good sized room. Pool was okay. Looks a bit run down. The other Doubletree around the corner looks like someplace that "workin' girls" might stay, if you catch my drift.

The microwave and refrigerator were handy. No dishes other than a few glasses.

The Doubletree is walking distance to DTD is you like to walk. If you don't, well, it could be a long walk. But I usually walk 3.1 miles nearly every day.

I haven't seen anyone say that they hated the Courtyards. We have stayed several times at the Courtyard in DTD and the one in Marriott Village. We had great rooms both times. The one in Marriott Village is very new, clean, and the pool area is great. It is close to DTD and easy to jump on I-4 to get to the parks. I would go with the Courtyards.

My DH, 2 y.o DS, and myself got a great laugh from this comment! We stayed at the Doubletree Club for three nights, and believe me, there were no lowlifes or riff-raff there. And for $69 a night, a kids suite, two pools and a hot tub, it can't be beat!
