Hello!

Can you really walk from the Doubletree Club to Downtown Disney? I have read that is about a 20 min walk to DTD.

We do not want to rent a car, so being able to get to DTD is very important.

Has anyone gotten this hotel through Hotwire?

Any advice would be great!

Thanks!

We stayed at the doubletree club last Feb. Booked it through Expedia- great rate. Its a nice hotel, and pleasant staff.

Its on the end of the line of DTD hotels. I would say a 20 minute walk is accurate. We ended up walking 2 or 3 times, but for the most part we took cabs (no rental cars here either). It ended up just being easier, cost us a lot more though.

I could imagine the walk being upsetting to some people in extreme heat or cold. For us it was fine, coming from a brutal NY winter, it was nice to get out an walk around (even though the locals were selling hats and gloves, I was wearing flip flops). We only took the cabs out of convience, there always seemed to be one waiting.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any more ?s.

Thanks very much for your help!

Did you use the hotel shuttles to Disney at all? If so, was the schedule decent?

Can I ask how much you paid through Expedia?

Would you stay there again?

Thanks again for your help!

We stayed there February 2004 for $44 on Hotwire. We stayed there January/February 2005 for $67 on HotelmartUSA. Liked the $44 rate better, naturally! We would definitely stay there again.

There are two Doubletrees in the DTD area.

The Doubletree Suites is the last hotel on Hotel Blvd. The Doubletree Club HOtel is on SR 535 just north of the DTD intersection with SR535.

herc.

The OP was referring to the Doubletree Club on Highway 535.

I think we paid somewhere between 230 and 260 a person, which included air from NYC. We arrived on Sat morn and departed Mon night. It was just a quick getaway from the cold. But it was still great.

We affectionatly (sp?) call the Doubletree the pineapple b/c is has a giant one on the outside of the building. It also helped some cabbies from taking us to the suites by accident.

The shuttles were awful (which is really the only bad thing about the hotel). They didn't have one to DTD, I know its just as easy to walk but I figure in the case of bad weather one might want to use a shuttle instead. We only used the shuttle once to MGM. We had to wait a while for it, I want to say almost an hour, but it was last year so I could be wrong. And we opted to just take a bus to DTD from MGM (by way of another hotel) and then walked.

There is an Au bon Pain and a bar in the hotel lobby. Which was nice.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Can't beat those prices! If I did though, I might opt for a rental car. We ended up spending a lot on cabs, which wasn't fun.

I hope I answered everything! You'll enjoy your trip no matter what.

Hi ziggystardust!

Yes, you have answered all my questions. Thanks very much!

I went ahead and booked the Doubletree Club through Hotwire for $44/night after much deliberation. I was going to try Priceline in hopes of snagging the Best Western LBV, but was afraid I would end up getting the Sheraton Safari instead. In any case, I have FINALLY made my hotel reservation, so that is very exciting!

R C Fan,

If you go to the Hilton website, sign up for Hilton Honors if you have not already done that. Then after you get your Hilton Honors number, call the Doubletree Club Hotel and give them you HH number and request the 7th floor which is the Hilton Honors floor. The rooms on that floor are very nice. They have Sweet Dreams beds, each bed has five comfy pillows and a down comforter. We slept better there than any other hotel.

Hi DJT!

I signed up for a Hilton Honors card yesterday. I also e-mailed the hotel with a request for a seventh floor room. (I had read on TripAdvisor that the seventh floor was the best floor.) I have not gotten a reply yet, so I probably will have to call. I guess I don't know how soon the hotel itself gets the reservation when you have booked through Hotwire.

In any case, thanks very much for the advice!
