DoubleTree by Hilton Anaheim - Orange County... anyone?

So after tons of research online, we opted to stay here for many reasons. The reviews on the popular travel sites were all amazing and it's across the street from Starbucks (yes, we have a problem). Plus it has a free shuttle to Disney, although adults can walk it no problem, and a cheap shuttle to the airports. It's also next door to the outlet mall, in case we need a break one day. The one downside was the double beds (why don't all hotels have queens?!) but we figured for the price and great reviews, we could suck it up.

However, I haven't been able to find much of anything on these boards about this hotel. Has anyone stayed here? What did you think?

Are reservations are non-refundable so I'm looking for some assurance on our decision :listen:

Stayed there once for business and once for DL. The shuttle was always punctual both ways. After our welcome chocolate chip cookie, I asked in the restaurant if i could buy some more, and they just gave me a bunch. There are plenty of dining options at The Block at Orange, adjacent to the hotel. Thought the indoor skateboard area at the Block was kind of neat.

It's a fantastic hotel, been many times.
The breakfast buffet, although not free, is wonderful.

Thanks for the input. Looks like we're heading to Disney the same day, according to our tickers :thumbsup2.

Was the breakfast a reasonable price?

I haven't stayed there, but we ate at the restaurant a few years ago. I got terrible food poisoning from some soup there and missed an entire Disney day because of it. :(. ( and no, it wasn't Noro).

LOL....Don't think I have ever seen that happen before!
This is our Spring Break, so we try to go this week every year.

We have a time-share now, so we don't stay at hotels...but if we did, the Doubletree would be at the top of the list. Have fun! and let's pray for warm weather :thumbsup2

The Double Tree Orange isn't close enough to walk. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but it's several miles away. I mean, you could walk (as in, it is physically possible, lol), but you wouldn't want to.

We've stayed several times as a Priceline win. I'll be honest, it's not my favorite. The beds are not comfortable. I'm willing to overlook the fact that they're not queen size (though I find that annoying), but they're just not very nice quality. Also, the halls and some rooms smell like animal. To be fair, I have a sensitive nose, but at times we've even had wet carpet, like they've just recently shampooed them and there is often a smell of heavy perfume to cover the animal smell (especially in the halls). It's not so terrible that I won't stay again, but it's definitely apparent.

They will bring a roll-away, which is nice when dealing w/the double beds. There is a fee, but they've always waved it without our having to ask. The location is nice as far as non-Disney things (food, shopping, etc). There is a nice (though distant) view of the fireworks. The shuttle is reliable, drivers are friendly. The lobby is nice, open, welcoming. Free cookies are always a good thing.

So, I wouldn't pick it, personally, but it's a decent hotel and while it's my least favorite Priceline win, it's acceptable.

Thanks for the honest feedback. We read through probably 10 pages of reviews on various travel pages and most actually said the beds were very comfortable. How long ago did you stay there? I wonder if they've been replaced recently. Fingers crossed!

Our most recent visit was Jan 5th. I admit, I'm a hotel snob, but their beds are not 3* quality. Not awful, you will be fine, I just wanted to be honest that they're not the quality one would expect at a mid level hotel.

I stayed there a few years ago on a Priceline stay. It was a nice hotel, nothing spectacular about it, just nice, clean somewhat upscale. I remember they had a tennis court which I enjoyed using.

It just occured to me that I was thinking of the Doubletree Suites on Harbor Blvd, not the Doubletree you mentioned.

The recommendation was for the Suites on Harbor. Sorry about that :)

It's our first week of Spring Break as well. We were originally going to go to DL the last week of March (the second week of our Spring Break) but from what I read, that week can be very busy because of Easter. Hopefully we picked the right one!

Every year? So jealous! :worship:

If it makes you feel better, I wish I could go to Canada every year. Love the fishing!
