Hi, can someone please confirm for me which moderate resorts have queens and which have doubles.

Thanks in advance,

Jennifer

Standard rooms at Caribbean Beach and the Magnolia Bend section of Port Orleans - Riverside include two double beds, for a maximum occupancy of 4 people (plus one baby under age 3 in a crib).

Rooms in the Alligator Bayou section of Port Orleans - Riverside have two double beds plus a trundle bed (shorter and narrower than a standard twin bed) that can accomodate a 5th small person.

Coronado Springs and Port Orleans - French Quarter have two Queen beds in standard rooms, which sleep 4 people (plus one baby under age 3 in a crib).

The Magnolia Bend section of Port Orleans - Riverside will slowly receive Queen beds as the buildings are refurbished. The exact end date for that is still not known, but is roughly estimated to be January 2012. It is unclear whether the trundle bed rooms in Alligator Bayou will be upgraded to Queen beds, as there may not be sufficient space.

There are rooms with King beds at all four resorts, for an extra charge per night.

ALL rooms, with the exception of king-bedded rooms at POR will or already have queen beds. We stayed in the Mansions section in September and had queen beds, I believe we were in Acadian House.

So to answer your question correctly, the only moderate that doesn't or won't have queen beds is Caribbean Beach Resort.

I've never really understood why anyone would make a distinction between a double bed and a queen bed. They are within 6" width and length of each other. Am I missing something here? Does the 6" really make that much difference?:confused3

6" can make a big difference. I have trouble still to this day sleeping in a bed with a person...aka my wife...I have a horrible time in doubles but do just fine in a queen.

I was just there in Nov. & stayed in Magnolia bend. We had brand new room & queen sixe beds...

6 inches makes an huge difference. When you sleep on your side, it can literally be more than half your contact space on the bed.

As others have mentioned, all of the mods have queen beds except CBR. POR still has a few double bed rooms but they are currently in the process of transitioning and will be done by summer. Those rooms are in the AB section. CSR and POFQ are queens. The only exception are the few rooms at each resort that have one king bed in them, which is an upcharge at a moderate anyhow.

Wrong AGAIN!

POR is in the process of adding queen-sized beds (almost done) and trundles are being replaced with a small murphy bed.

How did you like the refurbished room? We are thinking about POR, can you comment your opinion of Magnolia Bend vs. Alligator Bayou...I mean, did you request one over the other or just end up in MB?

If you're going to shout "Wrong" at least do it with some style.... the roll eyes is so 2011.

We requested a refurbished room in Magnolia Bend and got one in Acadian House back in September. If you request Magnolia Bend and you do not have a Royal Room booked, you will be placed in either Magnolia Terrace or Acadian House if your request can be granted.

IMO, the refurb in Magnolia Bend was nice but you can tell it was done hastily (ie: border was not flush with ceiling, sloppy paint, same old fan in bathroom, etc). All cosmetics though. The refurb in AB was a little more drastic and the photos look really nice. I used to not like AB but with the new decor, I may give it a try. Much more appealing. I do prefer the mansion section though for proximity - some of those AB buildings are quite a walk to the food court, main buildings, etc. whereas the mansions are about equal distance from the main buildings. Bus stops are a non issue though since they are all around the resort.

I'm the same way.. At home my husband and I share a California King so sharing a Double just isn't comfortable. I like my "space" especially since my husband tends to kick at night. :sad2::lmao: We have never really had any problems with a Queen bed, but we sure do notice a difference when we share a Double.

Thanks for the insights :goodvibes Looking at a map, I thought some of the mansions seemed far away with those long front yards facing the river if you happen to get a room towards the back. Good to hear not too bad a walk.

AB you can clearly see some to be better proximity to the main bldgs while others would be quite a hike if you just want to go fetch a mug of coffee or pop but at least it would be a lovely walk.

I kinda prefer the looks of the mansion rooms inside to the AB, AB looks kinda dark but maybe that would make for a nice comfortable mid-day nap. In the end, I think being closer to the main bldgs would persuade me more than the decor if given a choice, I'd want to be close, well that and that the resort now has all QUEEN beds :thumbsup2

Oak Manor and Parterre Place both have long courtyards, but both tolerable. Plus both of those buildings are Royal Rooms so unless that is what you booked, you would not be placed in them. There's a bridge across the river right in between these two buildings as well that cuts down on the walk.

Have you checked out the new decor in AB? I was never an AB fan because of the dark decor as well, but the new decor is light and much more up my alley. They are in the POR FAQ thread and also portorleans.org if you haven't seen them yet. You can also book a preferred room which will guarantee you to be close to the main buildings which includes the food court, gift shop, and then the main bus stop which is just on the other side of the main buildings. Preferred rooms are an upcharge and only in the AB section. They are the closest AB buildings, so if you do not have a preferred room booked and request AB - it's quite possible you'd have a little walk.
