Double the Fast Passes?

I am planning a trip the first weekend of Feb., going with my mom but will also have a lot of solo time in the park. We will likely be there Friday and Saturday. My AP covers Friday but not Saturday. I also (long story) have a 2 day child ticket that I could upgrade to an adult ticket - but can't downgrade to a one day. So, essentially, I'd have to use a two day ticket even though Friday I have my AP. my question is, can I use this to my advantage? Is there a way to activate both my AP and two day ticket on Friday in order to get double the fast passes. Or is this heavily frowned upon? If I have to essentially "waste" part of a two ticket, I'd like to have some perk to it.

Also, off topic, but I have reservations both onsite and offsite and I cannot decide if it's worth it to stay onsite. I realize that "worth" is extremely relative - but weekend rates are no joke. I did score a AP package for Friday night but Saturday was over $500/night. I've stayed onsite the last two times and I really do thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere and the convenience, and I utilize magic morning, but the cost difference is so significant that I wonder if all those conveniences are necessary if it's just my mom and I (no kids). Anyways...interested in opinions!

Well, you could use the AP to enter a park, then exit and enter with the ticket, making both valid for Fastpasses, but that is a lot of money, instead of finding a way to get someone to use it, or even donate it to some charity.

As for saying on property, I just don't see the value at Disneyland. (At WDW it is a different story), there are some great places to stay off-property, and also gives you easier access to things like off-property restaurants, shops and other attractions. Limited Hotel Rooms have created a "Disney Tax" in regards to room rates, and the fact some folks will pay just because it has Disney in the name.

I like the new options at the corner of Harbor and Katella, and nearby, such as the county Inn and Suites, Hyatt House, Springhill Suites and the Residence Inn. (Make sure you are choosing the correct location, as many brands have multiple locations in the area).

I did consider giving it away but it's hard to find someone who could use just one ticket. Plus, I do have to pay for Saturday regardless, so I'd be spending $180 or so just for Saturday on top of what I paid for the ticket I already have (I did pay for the child's ticket originally, it wasn't given to me or something), ya know what I mean?

The one time I paid for a full price ticket on a block out day I bought a 1 park ticket to save money. I can hop any other day, and often just go to 1 park when I'm there.

How much is your cost to upgrade the child's ticket? Deluxe is $140 more, so if the price is close, you might want to do that instead.

I have the So Cal Select AP, so it was only like $329, and the Delux is $599, so it's a pretty significant price difference. If I bought a one day ticket for Sat it would be $105 without hopping and $160 with hopping. I tend to park hop like crazy (especially if I don't have kids with me!) so I would definitely want to hop. I like to run over and grab FP at DCA and then go back and utilize them, ya know? The child's ticket I have is a 2 day, 1 park per day ticket - so if I upgraded to an adult ticket (1 park) it would only be a price difference of $12 dollars! If I upgraded to a two day park hopping adult ticket, it'd still only be $52 dollars - so definitely cheaper than a one day park hopper would cost. This is what makes the most sense financially, but I still feel like I'm wasting part of the ticket on Friday!
