We are leaving in two weeks, and my sister-in-law just returned and recommended we rent double strollers for our 2 DS, ages 5 and 3 1/2. Are they really easy to get around? I was going to take our umbrella stroller but I'm now rethinking...any advice?

Hi,

I was surprised how easy it was to deal with the double stroller. We used one for our daughter. It seems like the doors and aisles in the shops are extra wide.

Few things to keep in mind. All of the doubles, except MGM, do not have a divider for the seats. Also, all strollers can look alike. Sometimes, CMs move them to clear a path or for access after a show ends. Try to mark your stroller with a ribbon or something. Keep your receipt. If you change parks during a day, you can get a stroller at each park without an extra cost. At the end of the day, turn in the receipt to get a Disney Dollar.

Every park we got the double stroller for DD's 5 and 3. It was perfect! This is the ONLY place they will get in a stroller for me. I noticed much older children in the strollers also.

The only downside to getting the stroller at the park is that you will need to carry any children to and from your transportation.

After the girls passed out and slept on the way back to our room we held them while we waited for the buses, rode the buses, and then up to the room. That can amount to 40-50 minutes of lugging a 40lb child around.

Also, if you are flying the umbrella stroller is very handy in the airport.

I highly recommend the double stroller. We got a single stroller the first day for my then 4 1/2 year old. My 7 year old complained alot about walking so much. So for the rest of the trip we got doubles. It was great! I had no problem maneuvering thru the parks and my 7 year old was much happier and had more fun.

On this trip my boys will be 6 and 9. We will probably try the first day without a stroller and see what happens. My 9 year old is too big for them now and my 6 year old is fairly good at keeping up.

I echo everything that has been said. I used my own double stoller when my children were todllers/preschoolers and then rented as double stroller when going to WDW until my youngest was about 5. He refused to sit in a stroller. :D

When our girls were 3 & 6, we brought two unmbrella strollers. The advantage over a double is that we could split up and each parent could take a kid--to get a drink, go to the bathroom, see something the other one wasn't interested in. They're also really handy in airports or the parking lot.

I never liked wheeling around a huge double stroller.
