Family of 4 adults and one 3 year old going to all 4 parks 1 day each. We opted not to get the dining plan so we plan to bring a small cooler and lots of snacks to avoid eating in the park. We will have not only the cooler but a bag for other stuff for daughter.
I plan to rent a stroller and thought about getting a double so we don't have to carry anything.
Anyone else ever rent a double with only 1 child or am I just nuts for thinking about it?

Actually not a bad idea. It will give you space to carry stuff with ease. We've always had our stroller packed up for the parks. The alternative is carrying everything...:crazy2:

I think it is a great idea. I take my double stroller with only one kid a lot at home too. Extra seat is great for groceries. :)

I don't like carrying stuff, but how much do you really need? Pushing a double stroller at WDW is fine, and I do it, but it's not the kind of thing I'd do when I didn't have to.

The only things you're going to want to leave in the stroller are the cooler and items that wouldn't ruin the vacation if somebody stole. Everything else needs to go with you when you leave the stroller (meaning that "everything else" shouldn't be too much). I like to get a hook on the back of my stroller like this one to hang my bag from off the back of the stroller while we're walking, and then I put it over my shoulder when we have to leave the stroller.

I agree that lugging stuff around wouldn't be fun, I just question how much you'll need. We take our meals with us a lot, and even though we're a family with 5 children, I could fit our stuff into a single stroller. I only take a double because I have a 1 year old and 3 year old.

I don't know if you realize but a double stroller costs $31 per day. That sort of defeats the purpose of you trying to save money by bringing snacks in the cooler.

I have to agree with that one. I realize you said there will be 4 adults, OP, but I don't think you need any more than 1-2 backpacks for everyone's stuff and maybe a small cooler that you can hang off the back of the stroller. It's hard enough to steer a single umbrella stroller through crowds; a double stroller seems like it would be even more difficult to manage. I would hate to hassle with it if I only had one child with me.

Www.magicstrollers.com has the best doubles ever. I own my own but still rent theirs. Their site has a video, go watch it now! For 8 days its $84 and they drop at hotel by 10 1st day, pick up after 2 on last day. With that said the stroller gets parked most of the time and I have done it both ways...with nabs and small coolers etc.... And with dining plan. It is all about preference but everything u bring in has to get taken out of the stroller or off your person and opened and rumbled thru at security. I buy the large clear ziploc bags from the dollar store that are big enough to hold a lot! And put it all in those. They have handles and you can find things fast. We have never had anything stolen. We store some under, hang some off the handle with mommy hooks, and one or two of the adults can bring back packs, we have a soft thermos brand 18 can tote that you can put ice in. Not like a hard cooler. Put drinks and ice on bottom and a gallon ziploc of food on top. Looks more like a big purse. With all that you could do a single, but the price dif is maybe $20 so if u want, try a double. It also depends on how you get to the parks. Loaded down stroller has to be unloaded and stowed in tram or bus. BIG PAIN! I used monorail from POLY this time bc you don't even have to take the child out, but AK and DHS don't have monorail access. With 4 adults you could really do anything tho! Wish I had that kind of ratio :)

We are going through kingdom to rent and it's only $65 for the full length of our stay.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I guess my main concern is that 2 of the adults are older so carrying anything including a backpack is out for them. I will have to think on it more I guess..lol.
Thanks again

I did that before. It worked out like a dream. DD was comfortable, and my back and shoulders were saved!
