Help! When baby #2 comes along, our DD will have just turned 3. At that age I'm really not sure what to do for a stroller. She usually walks now, doesn't need the stroller much, but when we go out for long walks (which I'll be doing often when I'm home for a year with the 2 of them) she needs to rest. And I don't want a sit and stand because I want her to be able to really rest and nap when we're out for long outings. Right now I'm leaning towards getting a really good single (probably baby jogger mini) and using a carrier for the little one most of the time...can I have opinions from experienced parents please? Is a double worth it at that age? Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you, DD will be 3 when the little one will be born. I'm definitely getting a double because I can't imagine trying to wrangle DD and a little one. That's not to say that I'm going to get rid of our single, or not wear the little one... but on trips to the mall, I'm keeping DD in the stroller. I've thought of a Sit and Stand, but I don't think she's going to be big enough for that yet. Not that she's a bad kid, but like many 3 year olds, she's buzzing with energy.

We went last year and took our stroller for the baby and took an umbrella stroller for DD4. This worked perfectly for us. DD4 used the umbrella stroller when she got tired or just when she wanted to be pushed around like her little sister. The umbrella stroller was quick to break down when getting on and off busses.

My wife insisted on bringing our stroller for DD1 due to more storage space, multiple cup holders, and a soft bed for nap time. It worked great.

I would go with the double stroller. Even a small baby will feel like a big weight when walking thru the parks for days on end. Plus, if it is already hot, having that extra weight on you will make you feel that much warmer.

Def, bring the bouble. Last year mine were 2 and 3 and they used it a lot. even taking naps in the late afternoon in it so hubby and I could walk around and enjoy the sites.

My two children will be 8 and almost 6 when we go in June and we ARE most definitely bringing our double stroller! They will both be tired at some point and I don't want them to end up fighting over a seat in a single and it is A LOT of walking!

DSister was in the same boat. DNiece was 3 when the new baby arrived. She has a Maclaren Twin Triumph. The seats independantly recline fully, and DNephew (the new baby) has been in it since he was about 3 weeks old. It works great for her. DNiece may walk on her own quite a bit, but there's times she gets tired and wants a ride, esp. after long walks, etc. DNephew is now 9 months old, and DSister gets a lot of use out of it. Plus, DNephew gained weight very fast - he's already 18 lbs, which can get quite heavy to carry around all the time.

I've already got by Twin Triumph (my second is due in June, when DS will also be 3). I know we'll get a lot of use out of in next Jan when we head to WDW again.

You aren't talking about bringing a double stroller to Disney, right? Just for everyday?

My kids are 8 months and my other dd will be 3 in a few weeks. I bought a double jogging stroller. I love it for walks etc. However, it is a pain to take in the mall etc. I kind of wish I had a sit-n-stand also. Have you looked at one of those?

Well if u decide to look at a sit and stand I do recommend the Joovy cabose, we bought one and just came back from WDW it was wonderful for my 2mth old and 4yr old. I know my 4yr old is growing out of strollers and this was the best way he could stand or ride whatever he wanted and kept him happy.

Take into account that your 3yr old may not nap anymore, but I highly suggest going to the store and putting your oldest in and if a friend can come with you with thier child drive 2 of them around the store so u get a good feel for it. having 2 older children will really give u a feel of how long it will last for u as well.
