We leave on Saturday for 9 days -- DH, DD5, DS2 and me. I plan to bring my Graco double stroller -- the kind that sits one in front, one in back (not side by side) Is this going to be a problem on the resort buses (why don't the bus drivers just open the cargo space?) and in the parks? I think it is just too much walking for the 5 yr old and since I am pregnant I know I can't take a turn carrying her if she gets too tired.

I have read many threads blasting strollers in the parks and on the buses.

Thanks!!

We used that last year and it worked fine although I think DH did not enjoy getting it on and off the bus, but who does! However, my oldest was 3.5 at the time. For your kids unless your 5 yr. old is very small, I would consider renting the double strollers from the park instead as I would think the graco seat would be a little small for DD5 and hard to push for you and DH.

Just wanted to add that if you rent the double strollers at the park, even if your DD5 is tired at the end of the day and you don't have the stroller when leaving the park (since you obviously have to return it when leaving)-I would just tell her to deal with the walk (nicely of course)after all she will have had the stroller all day! That way, DH can carry DS2 if he needs to and you can just hold DD5's hand. You don't want to overexert yourself while pregnant. Just my opinion

We are getting ready to go again. My kids are 4.5 and 2.5. I am pregnant as well. We are using the same stroller you have and did our last trip as well. As far as the bus goes, as long as you are somewhat polite, I don't see a problem. We would fold up the stroller while waiting for the bus last year and find a spot to stow it. Usually DH would hold it upright in front of himself while he sat. Don't forget you and your kids have a right to be on the bus as well.

Honestly, I don't think your 5 yo or any other could handle all of the walking.

As far as renting goes, it's an option but at $15/ day it adds up.

We also used our stroller in the resort last year a ton. We stayed at POR and it was pretty close to everything, but you know how slowly they can walk. And if the older one walks then the little one walks. Sometimes it's just easier to strap them in and go.

We leave Friday, maybe we'll see you there.

If you ask nicely, the drivers are more than willing to open the back (handicapped) door of the bus. Let your husband fold up the stroller and go to the back of the bus while you and the kids go in the front and ask the driver to please open the back door for your husband because he has a large stroller. Easy! Just be sure to have the stroller folded and ready to go when the bus arrives. The girls and I usually walk right down the aisle and meet my husband in back to sit with him (unless there are no available seats back there).

We took the same stroller you have on our last 6 trips or so, and this has never been a problem.

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

We took our Graco side by side double on several trips- it was a little bit of a pain getting on and off the bus but not too much. We forgot it one trip- so we rented a double and my DH liked that so much that now we always rent. My DD and DS just turned 5 and we are still planning to rent a double on our trip next week ( :Pinkbounc 4 more days!! :Pinkbounc )

A lot just depends on your children, their sizes, personalities, where u are staying, cost, whether u want to wait in line to rent everytime u go to the park. During our stay April 16-24, I never saw anyone on the buses with a tandem double, only umbrella doubles, one double jogging stroller(which was HUGE), and several singles. So I can not tell you how easy it will or will not be. My Graco tandem does not fold up easily, and is very heavy. I am assuming that dh will be handling stroller/diaper bag while u handle the 2 little ones. This is what we did.

I am 7 mnths pg with a 4.5 yr old and 22 mnth old. We bought 2 Maclaren Triumphs(www.allbeebaby.com has good prices, but we bought ours from Babierus). The 2 singles were much easier to handle in the crowds and on the bus. At the resort, the youngest rode in the stroller and the older enjoyed the walks. We have never had a problem with the two "having" to do what the other does. It was nice to have the option of dh and I taking a child and going different places.
We bought the stroller connectors to use if I was left with both but never used them bc the Macs are soooo easy to steer. I can't go back to Graco again. I just steered both or had oldest push hers to the bench or table where we waited. Dh and I often steered with one hand and held a food tray in the food court with the strollers. No way with Gracos.
The triumphs have a sunshade, a wonderful raincover that we used 1 day with no leakage just a little fussing from youngest(but he was dry and happy after the shower), a small basket, a carrying strap, easy/quick fold, and is fairly light and compact.
Oh, the Macs were the only ones that fit my very petite 4.5 yr old comfortably. She is only 40 lbs and 41 in, so not huge. we almost bought the combi savvy but when we tried it out at BRU then it did not fit her hips.

If u have no choice but the Graco, I would drive your vehicle or rent. Staying onsite, you will get free parking, no wait for buses, and less hassle/stress.

I have a DS4 and a DD3.I have owned 2 different tandem strollers and honestly would never attempt to take them on WDW transportation. They are difficult to handle and are large even when folded. I often travel alone with my kids so 2 single strollers werent an option. I bought a Maclaren Rally Twin and it is wonderful. It folds just slightly larger than a single umbrella stroller has a small storage area underneath . They only problem is it is a little pricey but i wish i had just paid the money 3 years ago when DD was born instead of having this been my third stroller.
