Hi All,
Has anyone brought a double stroller to Disney with them and if so did you have problems taking it around (in and out of doors) or on the buses?!?!?
Any tips & stories would be appreicated!

TIA:goodvibes

I have a Baby Trend Sit n Stand that has a seat in front and a standing board in back. It's kind of a double stroller. I have had no problems at all with it. It folds flatter than my travel system stroller. The bus drivers are always very friendly and tell me to take my time and I rarely find a person that won't hold the door open for me!

We took one last trip but we didn't use the busses. It was WONDERFUL to have with us, I loved having it there!! It was fine in the stores, on the monorail, and on the ferry.

I would not have taken it if we had to use the busses. Our other stroller folds up flatter then our double and it was a pain in the you know what to get on and off the busses. Trying to get it down the isle without hitting someone, trying to hold it and the kids, getting reprimanded over the speaker by the buss driver for taking it on through the back doors (even though some drivers had already told us we could) because we thought that would be more polite than bumping people down the isle. :headache: :sad2:

Just my honest thoughts on it. ;)

We take our double Jeep Umbrella stroller and never have a problem with doors, or even the buses since it folds down small and light weight.

In all of our trip we have taken our Chicco double stroller and eveytime it worked great. Folding was easy and took up little room on the bus.

I am glad to hear the double stollers fit.. The Stroller that we have is a zooper stroller (I think its a standard double) its not one of those double umbrella strollers and I didnt know if it would be okay or not when traveling around the "world"... I really didnt want to rent one because they look so uncomfy for a toddler and baby...
I thought it would be just a problem on the buses but I wasnt sure.

I dont want to be yelled at on the buses!!!!! :rotfl: The whole back door thing on the bus sounds like it would have worked really well but I guess some bus drivers have thier own rules.

It works MUCH easier to take it on the back doors. We just always ask the driver if we can. Some will, some won't. The ones that won't, then you are bumping and sticking out, oh well, what can you do? enjoy

We take our Quattro Tour Duo and while it can be a pain to get on and off the busses when we use them, it is well worth the effort for our kids

Definately bring it. Plus, you are familiar with your stroller, how to pack it (I bring everything but the kitchen sink with me when we go in the parks), etc. The ones in the park are not comfortable, they are expensive, and not the cleanest (I'm a germ-a-phob).

It's very important to ask the drivers and not just go into the back door if it is open. Because our DD uses a wheelchair and we need to use the lift, we end up spending some extra time with the drivers. Some of them are quite talkative and have explained that the reason people should not enter the back is that drivers are not able to see people entering the back door very well. They have some mirrors back there that point to the back door, but the mirrors get bumped (and even sometimes purposely) moved out of place. When that happens, the drivers can't see people getting into the back at all. Their view can also be obstructed by guests coming in the front door.

We have seen people coming in the back door get the door shut on them because the driver did not know they were there. That's why drivers yell at people who go in the back.
And, sometimes the reason the driver won't let you go in the back, even when you ask is because they can't see well enough.

We have taken our Mac sbs double many times. It's not the easiest thing to push through stores but we don't do a ton of shopping so not much of an issue. A bit of a pain on the bus but not too bad.

We also used the baby trend sit n stand for our trip about 2 months ago and really had no problems. I was a little worried, because I had heard that it was really hard to push ect. but for me it really wasn't. The buses were okay... it's never all that fun with a stroller, and this one was a little bigger and heavier than my single, but it wasn't horrible, and it was doable. -In the parks I thought it was really great. Good luck to you!

That reminds me, there are different styles to the WDW buses, and some are much better for stroller users than others. It has to do with the way the seats are arranged, but on the buses where the seats kinda face eachother, is much nicer and easier to get through-the isle is much wider than the buses with the double seats side by side. Everytime we'd get in line for the buses, I'd hope and pray for the "wider ones":rotfl: -I LOVED taking the monorail, no need to fold or even take the little one out:)

If people were allowed to enter from the back of the bus as well, then the people who had been waiting longer at the front of the line might not be able to get on that bus, as it would have filled up from the back. That would hardly be fair.

Disney does have some guidelines about the size of strollers allowed in the parks:

Q. Are there any personal items I should not bring with me into the Theme Parks?

A. Items that you may not bring into the Theme Parks include, but are not limited to:

Items with wheels, such as wagons, skateboards, scooters, inline skates, shoes with built-in wheels, two-wheeled or three-wheeled conveyances, strollers larger than 36" x 52", suitcases, coolers, or backpacks with or without wheels larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (coolers required for medication may be stored in a locker or at Guest Relations), and any trailer-like object that is pushed or towed by an ECV wheelchair or stroller
Alcoholic beverages
Weapons of any kind
Folding chairs
Glass containers (excluding baby food jars and perfume bottles)
Pets (unless they are service animals)
In Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park (for the safety of the wildlife), balloons, straws and drink lids are not permitted

36" X 52" is pretty humongous, so WDW is pretty well set up for the standard double stroller. Just don't expect it to fit into too many giftshop aisles.

As far as the ppl. with stroller loading from the back door of the bus... everytime I've ever seen this done it's been once the ppl. with the stroller are in the front of the line. I can't imagine ppl. getting out of line and just walking up to the back door of the bus to get on. I've never seen it happen (except with wheel chairs, but that's allowed.) When we were there last time, I had quite a few bus drivers that would tell me, without me asking, that they'd open the back doors and to load back there, but this was of course once I reached the front of the line.
