Have not been good!

# of those days i could not eat with my mouth hurting and my glands gurting and my throat hurting so i didnt count my points.

Yesterday, i ate what ever i wanted to as i hadnt eaten real food in 3 days.....

SO BACK AT IT TODAY!!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Dizzi, hope you are feeling better.

I was not good yesterday because after CPR class we went to Hacienda. That is my favorite place. I had my usual chicken taco but I ate a lot of chips and salsa.Tried a WW recipe for oven "fried"chicken. My son hated it but my DH and I thought it was okay.I am trying to come up with something for supper. I need to go to the store to get veggies for us to graze on at work. Maybe something will inspire me there.

It is hard.........
Especially for me when the most expensive things are the things that we really should be eating but i do go through the papers every week to see what sales are on produce and fruit!!!!

Well, I was not inspired at the store. Got my veggies though. I would be happy with a salad but the other two would not. There is plenty of leftovers if they will settle for that.

Does anyone have a good recipe for chicken? I fix chicken several times a week and I am getting tired of our usual ways.

Ok I am a little late but I just found my weight watchers stuff from a long time ago and plan on starting Monday. I need time to clear out my pantry and actually plan some meals!

Aneille - thanks for the restaurant website. I had been searching and searching my weight watchers stuff for the name of that website and couldnt remember the lady's name!

I am 41 with 2 kids ages 2 and 4 and have gained 30 lbs since having both kids. It has been very hard to stay motivated with kids this young- they wear me out! This site will keep me motivated!

Hey everyone,
Some of you already know my story. My name is Michael and less than a year ago i weighed 320 lbs when I went to boston to for a reality show. The 320 is down from about 350 in Dec. of 06. Anyway in April the 16th to exact 12 obese people started walk...a long walk. Boston to Washington D.C. for ABC's Fat March. I was gone for 10 weeks with a total of 42 walking days I walked a total of 620 miles and lost 80 lbs. i had the time of my life. When I got home I was goung ho and worked my butt off and lost another 15 lbs. Over the next few months I slowly got lazy and went out to eat alot with friends and family. The weight started to come back and I even found a few more, so When the new year came around and everyone had thier list of resolutions and were talking big stuff I made up my that I wasn't going to make a resolution and I was going to REDEDICATE myself. I'm now what I left the show at which is 239 lbs. Well thats my story in nut shell. Now its on with the weight loss.

I have alot of information and I would like to help anyone that I can. The idea of losing weight was one that i thought you had to know some sort of trick. I couldn't be more WRONG! It's really as simple as calories in vs calories out. It winds up being all about mathematics( I know math YUCK!). A pound is 3500 calories, so to lose a pound you have to burn 3500 calories more than you take in. There is a thing called the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) This is how many calories you burn if you do nothing at all and want maintain your present weight. If you know what yours is the losing weight is not that hard. Here is just one web site that has a calculator for it. http://health.discovery.com/tools/calculators/basal/basal.html
If you stay at or below your BMR you will lose weight. If you exercise on top of staying below your BMR you'll lose even more.

The first thing I'll say to everyone that is strugling with giving something up...is don't. You don't have to give it up you need to cut back and count the calories. You can have pizza just not the whole thing( like I used too with fries haha). If you do have that bad day know that tomorrow you'll do better. My trainer from the show Steve Pfester (who will be the trainer on a new show on CMT called Bridal Bootcamp) would tell us that our diets are like checkbooks. you have a certian amout per week in them. If your on a 1500 calorie a day diet thats 10500 calories for the week. If you know that you're going out on friday you can save some of your cals. for friday by cutting back on the other days. if for mon thru thurs you cut back to 1200 cals per day you saved 1200 cals for friday. it works like that.

I'll check in and ask for help and give as much as I can. We'll talk about different foods which are good and which are better, and ones that you don't think that need but you really do. If you have any questions I still stay in touch with my trainer Steve and his wife Bonnie and they give answers to my questions all the time. My goal is 40 lbs by my birthday in April that 3 lbs. a week thats an extra 10500 calories to burn a week. WOOHOO

I am glad to have your insite!! Are you still walking alot? Does Steve have any tips for someone who has a wheat intolerence??

Thanks Michael for website. I never knew that information and that definitely will come in handy.

My biggest challenge will be to get into a different schedule. I also need to clear out all the current "bad" food I have in the pantry. After watching Supernanny the other night, and seeing that boy's cholesterol level I need to get my kids on the right path as well. My boy is in the 25th percentile for weight and my little girl is in the 3 percentile but that doesnt mean their metabolisms will stay that way forever! Time to teach new habits even if they fight it.

I saw that show too, and it hit me. Even though I dotn think my kids eat terribly i think i can do better. As we do purcashe alot of good food. We still can do better at what we ahev around the house.

BEN..........OH SO GLAD TO HAVE YOUR HERE!!!!!!!

And i have ALOT OF questions.........

BUT i will start with this one.........
After i go to the website and find out what my BMR is, do you have any suggestions on how to get the CALORIES OUT!!!!! when you are EXHAUSTED?
I work on my feet everyday for at least 10 hours. In a fast paced (restaurant))environment. By the end of the day i dont really feel like doing much. Maybe 3 days a week i might have the energy to do a walk after work.

I'll ask Steve for some tips, and I'm running anywhere from 5 to 10 miles 4 days a week i try to get in more. I play basketball too. When I get to gym I try to burn at least 2000 calories.

One of the biggest thing to do is get a calorie guide. Every book store has them in the fittness section. Read the lable on all the food you have or are buying. My friends at work got sick of me reading the lables and telling them things, but now I see them reading the lables themselves. This way you'll know how much each one has and you can start to cut back. When your tired and can't get out to do anything eat "lean".

Here is my tip for eating.
If you're hungry and its late. Eat lean protiens like chicken, fish, and turkey not veggies yes i'm telling you not to eat your veggies(only when its late). Why you ask because vegetables are carbs and you body will store the carbs. 4 oz of chicken breast is about 100 calories, and you body has to work harder to digest it. You can eat more of these things with less calories.
Carbs = fuel/energy if you are going to eat carbs eat the majority of the duing breakfast and lunch you can still have them for dinner but not as much unless you're going to workout in some way. Heres an example. Your dinner is steak, potato, and a vegetable. Cut your portion down on your potato and keep the vegetable.

I'll have more later till then

Thanks for the tips, bigben. I would never had thought about the veggie thing. I have been trying to snack on veggies at night because they are 0 points on WW.

Veggies are a better snack than chips. You just have to watch the amount you take in. I never thought about them as a carb before either but they are. You're better off cooking up a chicken breast and eating that because your body will break that down and won't store it. Why do you think that runners "carb load" before an event your body will store the energy.

Hi Michael and welcome and thanks for coming over to this thread to help us all out
loving all your tips sp far

Ok...I popped on this board awhile ago swearing I would start a few weeks ago. Then we had training classes at the office (we always are included at lunch & dinners) so i knew I couldn't stick with a diet. So I am officially starting today. I am doing WW since I have all the materials and it works best for me. So far with Breakfast & Lunch, I have had 8 points. I planned out my meals for the entire week so I can stick with it. I am trying a new WW recipe for pork chops tonight. If it is any good, I'll pass on the recipe. hope everyone else is seeing success!

The pork chop recipe was really good. Even kids and hubby thought it was great! And the best part is that the prep time was less than 5 minutes!!! Here is the recipe. Enjoy!

Baked pork chops with Vidalia Onions

Ingredients:
6 center-cut pork chops (trimmed of all visible fat) (4 oz each)
6 slices Vidalia onion, 1/4" thick each
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1/3 cup fat-free milk

Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly spray a baking dish with nonstick spray.
2. Place pork chops in dish; top each chop with an onion slice.
3. In medium bowl, combine tomato soup and milk; pour over pork chops. Bake uncovered until pork chops are cooked through and tender (about 1 hour).

Per serving: 175 calories; 5g fat; 0.5g fiber
MAKES 6 SERVINGS
4 POINTS PER SERVING!!!

What about fruit?

Grapes are my favorite!?!?!?!?!

Fruits wind up as sugar. like anything all in moderation. You can eat fruits and vegetables but know that some are better that others. Your green vegetagles are better that others. Fruits make sure they're fresh and not canned. Read on the calories for the different fruits. In general one apple or one banana is about 100 cals. not to sure how many grape make 100 cal.

OK I am finally starting. Cant wait to weigh myself next Monday with great results! No exercise this week just to see what changing my diet can do. Then after that I plan on adding exercise as well. (OK, I am giving myself an excuse to clean out my closets and cupboards instead of exercising this week- that has to count for some exercise- I know it counts for stress! But once it is done, I should be at least a little stress free!

Breakfast-
Yogurt- 2 pts
1 small banana- 2pts

Lunch
Ham- Kroger lean honey ham 5 slices - 1pt
2 pieces whole grain bread- 2 pts
blueberries- 1pt

Snack
Carrots - 0pts

Dinner
Slow cooker roast w/ carrots, potatoes- estimate 10 pts (probably on the high side but I dont want to be off)

I cant wait to try the pork chop recipe, it sounds great and wonderful for only 4pts!
