The Hubel Family Disney Cruise.
Well the excitement started on Thursday evening when we all got home from work and School. Rik had to go to work later that evening which gave me some time to go shopping with Mads and get last minute items, go to the bank, and pack the car. Called the dog sitter to find out that she would not be able to watch our dog Missy.
PANIC struck, it being 11:00 at night, we called a friend that rescued us from the dog sitting deliema.
Mads and I got to bed early, Rik got to bed at 2 am after his shift.
Daughter woke us up at 6 am on Friday screaming,It is here! The day is here! Singing her rendition of Bye Bye Birdy replacing Birdy with Florida.
We finally got on the road and headed for Downtown Disney.
We spent a majority of the day at DTD and then checked into the POP Century. The decision was made to not rush ourselves but to stay at the POP so we could get up leisurely in the morning to get to the port by 10 am.
Met up with AKASleeping beauty at POP and daughters swam at the flower pool. AKA was going to go to MK Halloween party so, hubby and I decided to get something to eat, we ended up going offsite to Ponderosa. DD was too excited and did not finish her meal of fish and chips so we brought it back to the hotel with us thinking she would eat later. We had some time to kill and DD8 wanted to get a hair wrap so we indulged hey we were on vacation right? Met George the DVC guy who gave us directions and a few tips that would come in handy.
SATURDAY AM
The excitement was too much, I did not sleep a wink. We all woke up without too much incident, packed the car and decided that we would get breakfast on the road. We ended up stopping at Burger King and searching that exit for a Dunkin Doughnuts to no avail. Hubby got coffee
, daughter got milk, me , I DID NOT GET MY DAILY FIX OF CAFFENE because I only like Dunkins tea L it is very hard for me to function without this. We arrived at the port at 10:30 (note to self,,,,,trip over longer than expected) and the port was already packed with a line. DH and DD waited while watching cartoons, I stood in line to get us all checked in. There seemed to be a problem with our room, so we were UPGRADED!!!! We got boarding number 5
not too bad. When they called us we basically walked right on. This vacation has already become magical!
The first thing we did was to book it to Rockin Bar D to make Palo reservations. We were unable to make them online despite setting the alarm clock and having our fingers poised ready at midnight when we were granted access to the website.
When we got there, DD and DH took a seat while I stood in line
..there seems to be a pattern here Hm? Well, I got us Palo for the first night, and then we got a brunch for the first Sea Day. We ate at Parrot Cay the Lunch buffet and by that time, we were able to get into our cabin.
Once we got into the cabin, DH realized that he had not thrown out DD's dinner of fish and chips from last night, panic overcame him and he went tearing out of the cabin.
Realizing that there was nothing that I could do, DD and I changed into our swimsuits and unpacked our bags.
DH spoke with a port guard who sympathized with him and the predicament and helped my husband get off the ship and throw away the fish. Can you just imagine fish and chips fermenting in a locked closed up car for seven days baking in the beautiful Florida sunshine? YUCK! I almost gag just thinking about it
. The port guard told DH that the cruise that just disembarked had left a cooler and that the stench was so bad, that the car had to be towed!
DH made it back intome to participate in the lifeboat drill and then the whole family headed up to deck 9 for the sailaway party. VACATION HERE I COME.
We had a blast dancing and kicking off our vacation with the cruise staff and other guests. I especially loved the HORN!!
We met the Disers on deck 10 and loved putting a name with the face. DD8 was overjoyed to meet the two girls she was emailing for the past month and the girls became instant friends.
DH and I changed and then checked DD8 into the club and headed for our 6:30 dinner reservation at Palo. MAN WHAT A WAY TO KICK OFF THE CRUISE. The dinner was exquisite and our server Gemma was wonderful. I could not eat everything so we asked for the steak to be boxed up along with the desert. Instead of giving us our old dessert, they made a new one for DD8.
We were all extremely exhausted, so we went to bed early
.tomorrow we would be in Castaway Cay!!!!
