Heather, what a neat idea with the plates.

Kimberly--It's SNOWING REAL flakes comming hard and starting to stick. We are off for hot cocoa in front of the windows (all with big goofy grins on our faces).:) I do hope the roads don't get too slick though--we are going to hear Barack Obama speak this afternoon. I am loving living in a state where the candidates visit so often. I hope to see several of my favourites in person before I have to make a decision. But in the meantime, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I like the coupon idea myself but you could also make them the door signs!! OR order them their shirts for the cruise and wrap them with the coupons/doorsigns/pottery...!!!

Hadley, I'm SOOOO jealous! We haven't had that! In fact, today it's like 62 degrees :-( I hope you're enjoying it though!!

Heather...you are SO creative! I LOVE your little surprise to tell your husband about the surprise for him. God willing, if I have that news to share, I have a similiar idea to announce the news at dinner. Very cool, especially since you have the plates as a momento to the exciting news as well!

I know I'm missing some other posts that I wanted to respond to, but it's been busy the last week, so I've been mostly a lurker. I'll go back later and catch up on responses. Oh yea...I remember one. WOO HOO Buckeyes!!! If it weren't for my plans to be off 2 weeks next year for the cruising vacation, I would seriously consider going to the Rose Bowl again. I went last time we were there playing against Arizona, and it was a GREATexperience with the pep rallies in Beverly Hills, float decorating tours, parade, amusement parks, the game (of course) and more! If you've never gone, it really is fun and I highly recommend it!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!! For those of you traveling in the next few days, certainly be careful out there. In case you're off the boards in the next few days, happy hosting, happy family'ing, and happy eating!!

PS: I'm so thrilled that my ticker is almost at single digit months!!!! :woohoo: We all will be doing that ticker dance next week!!!!!

We had a great weekend with my sister in law. We played games (broke out POP 5 before Christmas to paly it with her--Chris and ROb you are correct it's a great game). And now I am ready to collapse:lmao: If only the laundry would do itself:laundy:

We are spending Thanksgiving at the nieghbor's house. Friday morning we will probably do a small bit of shopping (there are always one or two deals worth fighting the crowds for. Last year it was memory sticks at Staples). Then Friday afternoon I want to have a few people pver to play games (Taboo, Cranium, POP 5, Scattergories, Pictionary . . . ). Any takers?
Hadley, get this--after our talking about the discounted price we paid for Pop5. Today at Target it was back on the shelves for $24.99. Looks like we got a great deal on ours, huh?! I'll write you in a bit--my email "mini" TR to Erik after WDW wound up taking 90 minutes to compose!

Maybe I didn't read all the details right, but if you're giving the cruise as a Christmas gift, you could give them an ornament of a cruise ship. We even purchased one on board the Magic that's the Magic made from blown glass. I wonder if you could find those online before Christmas?

Anyway--when they open the ornament, they'll probably be confused as to why you chose such a strange gift.

Or....if anyone is creative in the painting department at your house...this is what I did to tell DH I was pregnant years ago.

I went to one of those paint-your-own-pottery places & glazed a few plates. On just one (the plate I was serving DH's dinner), I put two tiny foot prints & the words "We're having a baby!". I served dinner on the plates I had made (I made a family set so DH didn't wonder why his plate was different than all of ours). I made sure DH's food was covering the picture & words, and as DH finished his dinner, he read to bottom of the plate. I still have a picture of the reaction on his face :goodvibes

Just a few ideas. Pretty involved, but I always like the gifts that make people go "huh?" before they figure out the surprise :)

Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

Love your ideas, those are awesome!

Great idea on the plates, Hadley! It reminded me I wrapped up diaper pins for mine - that was 25 years ago - almost forgot - thanks for the reminder of a great memory! Have fun in the snow! We had a dusting yesterday, but it melted, and now it is really :cold: today.

Kimberly, congrats to your Buckeyes! Our Ducks took a big loss last week - we were looking for championship tickets, and everything! :sad2:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, everyone!!!! Safe travels to everyone and all of your loved ones! :grouphug:

Tammie--It was Heather who thought of the plates--and you are correct it is a fabulous idea;)

Chris, it is so good to see you post again and know you are home safe.

Thanks everybody for the great ideas. Unfortunately I am not very crafty so I will have to see what I can do with my meager talents.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY!!!!:grouphug:

Sincerely,
Michael

You can just forward me what you sent Erik! I don't need anything special just for me.;)

So Marika (whose first visit ever t the ER was the broken wrist in July) fell down the stairs today. Since she was still limping severly after two hours the Dr. recommended we take her to the ER for an X-ray. Luckily it is just badly sprained. I sure am glad we are only the guests tomorrow and not the hosts (having spent hte good portion of the day fiddling with the ankle). She is not being a good patient (doesn't want the split, not "comfprtable keeping it elevated, etc.). Mostly I htink she is mad becase she can't get her boots over the splint and there is still snow to paly in but she was told she must wear it at least 48 hours. That and she is embarrassed that she fell. Poor kid. But in the great scheme of things a pretty minor issue.

So I made the potatoes for tomorrow (10 pounds of potatoes, two sticks of butter, 16 ounces of cream cheese and about a half cup of half and half--no dieters here). The pearl onions (carmelized) and pumpkin bread will be done in the morning. Neighbors are making the turkey, stuffing, cranberry relish (tried it this afternoon--yummy) and the BEST gingerbread pudding. Other neighbors will bring pies, carrots and spinach. So much for the pink Barbie dress:lmao: What is everyone else doing? No matter what it is I hope you all have a happy and safe holiday (and for our Canadians and New Zealanders--and other countries I am missing have a good regular day tonmorrow).

Chris, it is so good to see you post again and know you are home safe.

Oops! I looked at your post last and got mixed up - I was looking at your Avatar ;) Sorry, Heather

Ooh. Sorry Marika hurt her ankle. PD to her for a quick recovery! Hopefully the snow will stay so she can play in it when she's better.

We are heading to DHs dad and step-mom's. OUr kids will be there, as well as stepsis and kids. I don't have to bring anything this time! I feel really wierd showing up empty-handed, but they said they really mean it! I guess I'll do the dishes :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

OMG....I am drooling now!!!!

We are heading over the river and thru the woods (ha ha:confused3 ) to Crystal River for a feast with the family at my aunt's place. I've spent all day on pies and deviled eggs! Its 80 degrees down here, we just might hop in the pool....Savannah was in ours today.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy thanksgiving! I'm just glad I don't have to get up early and *shop* on Friday!

:happytv: Hi All,

We hope everyone has a great day,

Hope everyone has a nice... FILLING LOL day!

'Twas the night of Thanksgiving, But I just couldn't sleep
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned - The dark meat and white
But I fought the temptation With all of my might.

Tossing and turning with anticipation
The thought of a snack became infatuation.
So, I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door
And gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore.

I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,
'Til all of a sudden, I rose off the ground.

I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky
With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.
But, I managed to yell as I soared past the trees....
Happy eating to all - Pass the cranberries, please.

May your stuffing be tasty, May your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes 'n gravy Have nary a lump,
May your yams be delicious May your pies take the prize,
May your Thanksgiving dinner Stay off of your thighs.

"Happy Thanksgiving!"

Great poem, great photo, and oh my goodness, poor Marika!

I hope everyone is having a great day. I am full and happy and sitting down to work on the novel some more. I am very thankful that in 10 months we will all be cruising together! ;)

happy thanksgiving to everyone. you are making me very hungry. i love turkey. i tried to convince some friends to take a drive over the border to your side to buy a turkey, but no one wanted to go. it's only an hour away and if we're lucky we might get turkey on sale for $1.19/pd here.so you guys have a better deal.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I know that I am well stuffed and thankful it is over and I have time to chill for a little. Lois
