Hi gang!

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to ya'll....we're back from the 3 night Wonder.....it was ****AWESOME****:thumbsup2  :cool1:
....
We ended up taking a GTY 8....as it was many hundreds of dollars cheaper than the GTY 6, and we didn't want to end up below deck 5, (which is why we didn't take the GTY 10). SO...KIMBERLY...(sorry more work for you) go ahead and free up room 7003, as we won't be in it.

Welcome home, Jen, Tiffany, and companies!!

Thanks for the update, Jen. Sorry you didn't get more of what you wanted, but hey...you have us! :lmao: I really appreciate the PM you sent, too! Great to hear you guys had wonderful weather! Looking forward to the trippies. :)

Hi gang!

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to ya'll....we're back from the 3 night Wonder.....it was ****AWESOME****:thumbsup2  :cool1:

The weather was beautiful..the seas were smooth...the drinks were flowing and the Bingo rocked! (YES, I won.....although I had to share my prize) We really had a fantastic time!!!

It was great meeting Tiffany and Doug (HI GUYS!!!! :wave2: ). We didn't find each other until the last day, and thankfully Tiffany recognized me! I guess it's a good thing I post all those pictures after all! We all had a great time! It was so nice to have others on the cruise to talk to, I can only imagine what this one will be like, with familiar faces around every corner!!!:thumbsup2

Oh and we did stop by the reservations desk, and were quite disappointed with our options. In fact we left and went back at least 3 different times...checking different categories...and discovered that all that is left in categories 10, 8, and 6 is "guarantee" category, meaning no specific room assignments. AND unfortunately I don't know where we actually WILL be.....but we will be there...somewhere.....;)

A trip report and plenty of pics from this weekend will be forthcoming! :dance3:

Welcome back! Glad you had a great time and congrats on the BINGO winnings woohoo! (even if you DID have to share :rotfl: )

Cant wait to read the trip report!

We do want to get there early but not rush ourselves.....I have heard that the first bus leaves around 10:30. Is that correct? Do they have a bus pick us up directly from the hotel or do we go with the people leaving from the airport section? We have never done this before......

I am so excited too and everyone (except my DS2) thinks I am CRAZY but I LOVE IT!

Thanks,
Crissi

You check in with DCL in the lobby of the hotel and then walk out to the bus. If you have your luggage outside your room by 8AM they pick it up and you do not see it again until it arrives at your room on the ship. You need to let the folks at the hotel desk know that you are on a DCL cruise when you check in to the hotel and they will set it up. I believe you are right the first bus leave sometime between 10 and 10:30. However you need to be checked in before that. We can work on the timing as we get closer.

Count us in for breakfast the earlier we get to the Port the better. :goodvibes

Cool!!! We have a mini meet. I will find us a place where we can meet and grap a bite to eat Saturday morning.

Welcome back. Hopefully you will get a room you are happy with in the end. It seems many folks end up in rooms that they enjoy. WE can all keep are fingers crossed. Lois

Anyone wanna set up a shuffle board game(s) a friendly compition or something?

I'm glad you had a great time! That is very reassuring to hear about the seas being calm--with all the poor weather on the news I was getting a little bit of cold feet about the time of year for our cruise!

I checked with my TA about availability for cabins and he agreed with what you found out on board. He says he can reserve specific rooms if they're open, but he only sees 10, 8, and 6 free, too. On one hand, it's neat that the boat is filling up; on the other, it makes me realize there's no way I'm getting the Cat 11 across from our room for my mom! Stinker! :rotfl: Oh well.

Bright shiny and cold here in Denver! We even had frost! :thumbsup2 We're going right back up to the 70s tomorrow, but it is nice while it lasts!

Oh, and DH got home at 9:30 pm on Saturday from work. Evidently he AND his co-worker uttered the famous words, "This will only take a little while." :rotfl: Doubly cursed!

DH is "working from home" today in order to babysit babygirl. Her day care is closed today for training. He's about to -lose his mind.- :rotfl:

Have a great day!
Brandie

What does this mean for those that have GTY assisngment? Is there still a chance of upgrade?

I don't think there's a rhyme or reason to upgrades, unless you're 4 people in a Cat 12. As far as I know, that's the only mandatory upgrade to Cat 11.

The lady on the boat actually told us that as far as upgrades go, SHE SAYS that the earlier you make a reservation, the better your chances are of getting an upgrade...whether you have an assigned room or GTY. I didn't buy it. I personally think (disclaimer: this is my opinion from reading many discussions on these boards about it....and my opinion only...no hard facts) that those without assigned staterooms (i.e. GTY categories) have a better chance of an upgrade. I just don't see DCL going through the hassle of upgrading lets say ten staterooms that are already assigned as opposed to upgrading the ten folks sitting in GTY status that do not have assigned staterooms yet. She gave this big long spiel about how the DCL "Inventory" folks evaluate the number of staterooms in any given category versus availibility versus the popularity of the cruise and then make the upgrades based on that criteria. But I will reiterate that it was her claim that the earlier you book the better your chances at an upgrade. We decided to take our chances with a GTY and see what we end up with.

I have read many, many posts about GTY's getting upgrades. And then again many, many posts of those with assigned rooms getting an upgrade also. In our two previous cruises, we had an assigned stateroom both times and did not receive an upgrade either time. We did speak to a gentleman behind us in the CC line checking in that had an assigned room last time and got upgraded from a 10 to a 5. I also overheard the family next to us on Castaway Cay talking about their upgrade from a 12 to a 6 (wow!). So it DOES happen. It just hasn't happened to us.....

YET;)

Happy Thanksgving Canada!!!!

As far as gty vs assigned room, I agree it would be easier to assign the GTY the upgrade, but who knows, we are a 6 so an upgrade doesnt seem to be in our future, Thats OK, I took the advice to book what you want to stay in

Hello all! We're finally back from our "Wonder-ful" trip! I can't say enough about this trip! We had a blast and only a few martini blackouts! We arrived at our Palo ressie about a half hour early and sat at the bar waiting for our table. Stani (the bartender) made us the best martinis then we went back to the bar after dinner for desert martinis! Then we went to Pirate Night - veeery happy!
We had so much fun we went back the next night for before dinner martinis at Palos before heading to Animator's Palate.

Jen - we were at every Bingo except the last one. When did you win? And was Savanna a Dwarf with Snow White at the Golden Mickeys? It was fun to meet you and I hate that it was so late in the cruise when we ran into eachother. How many pictures did you end up with?

I've never written a trip report, and don't think I can remember everything, but this was the best vacation I have ever had!!!!

Kimberly - I did raise my Sail Away drink for you!

I love the horn! I want it for my cell phone ring! It sounded 3 times before we left Cape Canaveral.

I also stopped by the rebooking desk to ask about rebooking with the onboard credit. I was told that this cruise is close to selling out and that if we rebooked it would cost us more than the onboard credit would give us. (we would also have to give up our SPR - and that's not happening!) When I got up from the desk a man came up to me and asked if I was asking about the Sept '08 double dip and wanted to know what GTY was. I think this is a very popular cruise!

Doug and I were so nervous the kids would never speak to us again once they found out we went on a Disney Cruise without them, so we brought them a "few" gifts to make it a little easier to swallow. Even though Megan was playing with her obvious Disney toys, she didn't realize we went on a Disney cruise until we were watching the pictures on our TV and saw the princesses. She yelled out that's where we went (meaning last year at WDW) and I said no, that's where Daddy and I went. The next picture was of the ship and she got this disgusted look on her face and said, "You went on a Disney Cruise without ME!" She didn't settle down until we reassured her we were still going next year and bringing her. :rotfl: Grady really could have cared less (That is once he saw the Star Wars Lego ship we got him).:darth: :yoda: :chewy:

We had a little bit of extra time before our train arrived, so we decided to kill some time over at Downtown Disney. That was fun and we were able to pick up some more Guilt Gifts for the kids.

I hope what I've written is not too confusing. I did not sleep well on the train ride home last night, and I'm suffering from Wonder withdrawl. But Stefi gave me the recipe for my favorite martini (of the 12 we tried) and I'm going to have to make some of these this week to help me feel better.

Erik and Hadley - I love the idea of putting our name and dis name on the cards. I also love Hadley's idea of putting my dis name with my family and friend that doesn't post. I confuse easily too. :lmao:

Welcome new cruisers! The cruise we just got off of was a blast, so I can only imagine that next September is going to be sooooo much better with this group! I kinda feel sorry for the people who don't DIS. They will be so confused.

Have a great day everyone!

Happy Turkey day to all my Canuck Double Dippers. Had and excellent dinner. Hubby puts the turkey on the barbeque and lets is rotate over and over result one yummy tender turkey.

Wow we never knew when we booked this trip that the after dry dock would sell so fast. We got it by fluke. Wanting to do a back to back starting in September.

I have never got an upgrade on anything with Disney. Since we have a disabled room. Do not need one. It is huge. We just love it. If anyone wants pics I can post them.

Anyone wanna set up a shuffle board game(s) a friendly compition or something?

I would love too.. if you explain the rules.. LOL

Last cruise hubby and i did to say we had done it but had no clue what we were doing LOL :confused3

Then I forgot to take pics of us to show that we did it :rotfl:

Hubby does... its all they do when they go to Iraq... Ok not ALL they do LOL. But they have big tournaments out there, along with dominoe's (our tax dollars hard at work LOL) Im sure he would be in for a game or 10 :lmao:

Sorry I have no desire to play Shuffle Board but I might consider being part of the cheering section. Let me know when you plan to play and I
ll be there if time permits. Lois

Hey Everybody,

Happy Thanksigiving to the Canadians.

Welcome back Tiffany and Jen. Jen, congrats on the Bingo win:thumbsup2

I haven't been posting because the other three members of my household have renwed their obsession with Roller Coaster Tycoon.
I wouldn't mind this at all if they did it on someone else's ocmputer:scared: Actaully, if Dave would just remember to bring his home form work so I could play on the DIS while they design amusement parks I would be very happy. No luck thus far:sad2: I have managed to at least get a few minutes here nad htere to keep up on reading the thread.
